아르데코양식을 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

Fashion goes through change continuously and advances in the current of the era, affected by the political, economical and social situation of the times. Therefore fashion reflects the spiritual findings and the ideas of the era and stands on the basis of the cultural and social situation and the style of art. The Art Deco style is a trend of art which is also the name of the formative arts that prevailed in the 1900s. It is the international trend of art that lasted until the beginning of the early 20th century. It came after the Art Nouveau style which is mainly an expression of fantastic and symbolic ideas using curves, seeking reasonableness and simplicity with structural faculty. Thus featuring the aesthetics of straight lines, geometric figures and smooth curves altogether, the Art Deco style was introduced. After that, the Art Deco style went through the first and second World Wars and affected the art and the human culture on the whole. And the affect of Art Deco is still effective now in the 21st century and it is endlessly recreated through adaptation of new modern views with past traditions. The Art Deco style along with the Art Nouveau style has been frequently put into use by modern fashion designers affecting the silhouette(line), color, material and so on directly. So we can inquire into the aspects of silhouette, color, patterns and textiles as the areas that Art Deco has affected with Art Nouveau. The following is the summary of the result of this study on the affect of Art Deco in the environment and trend of modern fashion. First, in the silhouette, there are a variety of examples; empire style, hubble skirt, minare style, kimono style, harem style, boyish style and so on; among which the boyish style is the most frequent. Second, about the color, with the pastel tone and primary colors of Art Nouveau the gold and silver of Art Deco are reflected in the fabric design and diversly applied in modern fashion colors. Third, in textiles and patterns, the geometric patterns of Art Deco and foreign motifs are used in modern textiles, and the golden and silver threaded fabric, metallic material etc. can be seen in various parts of clothing. ;오늘날의 패션은 스타일의 세분화 혹은 다원화 경향을 보이고 있으며 끊임없이 이에 대한 대상(motif)을 요구하고 있다. 그 양식들은 곧 대중환경 속에서의 지속적인 절충주의적 대안으로서 재창조 가능한 원천으로서 제시되기도 하다. 패션은 정신문화와 예술 사조를 반영하며 문화적, 사회적 상황과 예술양식을 기반으로 형성된다고 할 수 있다. 이런 의미에서 패션은 미학과 예술 그리고 디자인이라는 세 가지 맥락에서 볼 수 있는 시각이 필요할 것이다. 또한 변화와 새로움의 추구라는 패션 디자인의 속성은 필연적으로 미래를 예측하는 예언자적인 감각을 요구하며 이는 과거와 현재로부터 영향을 받은 양식으로서 표현된다. 따라서 한 시대를 풍미하고 현대에도 지속적으로 많은 영향을 미치고 있는 문화와 예술양식의 근원에 대한 고찰을 통해 예술과 패션의 상관관계를 파악하고 창의적 디자인 감각을 증진시킬 수 있는 바탕이 되리라고 본다. 본 연구는 모더니즘을 발현하게 한 아르데코 패션에 대한 이해를 근간으로 이를 작품의 모티브로서 응용하기 위하여 1910년대에 나타난 패션양식을 중심으로 연구하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 아르데코 패션이 출현하게 된 배경을 고찰하고 이에 대한 조형적 특징을 분석함으로서 작품제작에 응용하여 디자인의 원천으로 활용하기 위한 것이다. 20세기 모더니즘의 상징으로 해석되는 아르데코 양식은 한 시대를 이끌고 간 예술사조로서 1910년∼1930년대 유행했던 조형예술의 총칭이기도 하다. 주로 곡선을 이용하여 환상적이고 상징적 표현을 나타낸 아르누보 양식 이후 합리성과 단순성, 구조적 기능성을 추구하며 직선미와 기하학적인 특성 그리고 유선형의 매끄러운 선을 특성으로 전개되었다. 아르데코 양식은 현대의 기능주의와 모더니즘을 대변하는 중요한 모티브라고 할 수 있다. 이에 본 논문의 내용과 연구방법은 다음과 같다. 본 연구는 문헌조사와 사진자료 수집,인터넷 검색 등의 연구방법을 활용하였으며 아르데코 양식의 시대적인 배경과 특성 및 유래를 파악하고 그 시기의 복식특성을 분석하였다. 초기 아르데코패션 양식에 나타난 특징적 실루엣과 문양 등의 조형성과 이미지를 디자인에 응용하여 총 8점의 작품을 제시하였다. 이 장에서는 아르데코 패션에서 대표적으로 나타나는 실루엣과 아르데코 예술작품에 나타난 문양을 작품에 실제로 응용함으로서 럭셔리한 감각의 엘레강스와 여성미를 표현할 수 있는 조형이미지를 패션 디자인에 도입하고자 하였다. 결론에서는 연구내용을 요약하고 연구의 의의와 본 이론적 고찰 및 작품제작을 통한 시사점에 대해 살펴보았으며 유추된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아르데코 양식은 모더니즘의 발현을 가능하게 한 20세기 대표적 예술사조로서 이를 디자인의 모티브로 응용하는 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 둘째, 아르데코 패션에 나타난 선, 색채, 소재와 문양 등 디자인요소의 분석을 통해 전통을 통한 현재의 창조와 조형예술로서 표현된 패션의 본질을 파악할 수 있었다. 셋째, 인체를 구속하지 않는 자연스런 실루엣을 바탕으로 한 작품을 전개함으로서 럭셔리한 감각의 엘레강스와 여성미를 구현하는 작품을 표현할 수 있었다. 넷째, 유연한 드레이프 기법과 자연의 선을 사용함으로써 입체조형으로서의 '순수성'을 추구한 당시의 미적 감각을 재창조하는 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 다섯째, 아르데코 양식에 나타난 식물문양과 기하학적 모티브를 디자인의 원천으로서 패션 디자인에 수용하고 표출시킬 수 있었다. 본 연구는 아르데코 양식의 이론적 배경을 고찰하고 작품제작을 통해 현대적 의미의 재해석과 대중성과 복식미를 겸비한 패션미학을 추구하였으며 현대 패션의 경향에 다양한 형태로 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 모색하는 데에 의의를 두고 있다.
