Chopin의 Ballade에 관한 연구

Abstract

Frederic Francois Chopin(1810-1849)은 폴란드 출신의 19세기 중기 낭만파 작곡가로 써 피아노를 통해 낭만주의의 음악을 표현한 작곡가이다. 낭만주의는 고전주의와 완전 한 대립개념이 아니라 하나의 연속된 음악적 흐름으로 고전주의의 음악언어, 장르, 화 성 등을 계승하여 발전시키면서, 고전주의의 형식적 명료성과 합리성으로부터 벗어나 주관적 표현을 위해 자유로운 형식을 추구하게 되었다. 이러한 이유로 예술가곡, 성격 소품, 교향시, 음악극 등의 새로운 음악 장르들이 생겨나게 되었는데 낭만파 작곡가들 은 이런 음악의 표현수단으로 피아노를 애호했다. 피아노는 작곡가의 생생하고 때로는 극적인 정감은 물론 그의 가장 내적인 감정까지도 전달할 수 있기 때문이었다. 따라서 수많은 독특한 작품들이 피아노를 위해 작곡되었다. 특히 쇼팽은 마주르카, 왈츠, 폴 로네이즈, 프렐류드, 스케르쪼, 녹턴, 발라드 등의 피아노를 위한 여러 종류의 성격소 품을 작곡함으로써 피아노를 낭만주의 음악의 가장 중요한 표현수단으로 부각시키는데 결정적 역할을 한 작곡가였다. 본 논문은 그의 다양한 작품 중 “Ballade No. 4 in f minor, Op. 52"를 중심으로 그 의 음악적 특징과 발라드라는 장르의 특징을 다루고 있다. 발라드란 19세기 이전에 성 악곡으로 발전되어 사용되다가 쇼팽에 의해 처음으로 기악곡에 적용되어 이후의 작곡 가들에게 지대한 영향을 주었다. 쇼팽은 4곡의 발라드를 썼는데 이 작품들은 1831년에 서 1842년 사이에 작곡되었고 괴테(Wolfgang Von goethe), 쉴러(Friedrich Schiller), 미키에비츠(Adam Mickiewicz) 등의 문학작품에 영향을 받았으며 소나타 형식에 바탕을 두고 있다. 또한 네 곡의 발라드는 3박 계통의 복합박자로 되어있고 화려한 코다를 가 졌다는 공통점이 있다. 쇼팽은 고전음악에 낭만주의 음악의 특징인 서정적 선율과, 자 유로운 형식을 기초로 하여 민족주의적 요소가 깃든 작품들을 작곡함으로써 그의 음악 세계를 표현하였다. 발라드 작품52는 낭만주의 소나타의 영향을 받은 자유로운 소나타 형식을 바탕으로 한 곡으로 제시부, 발전부, 재현부 그리고 코다로 구성되었다. 벨칸 토적인 성격을 가진 감7화음, 9화음, 불협화음 등의 대담한 화성을 사용하였으며 또한 반음계적 진행, 템포 루바토, 페달의 사용, 모방기법과 대위법적 기법 등 쇼팽음악의 특징을 충분히 발휘한 작품이라고 하겠다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 Ballade No. 4 in f minor, Op. 52를 분석함으로써 Chopin의 개 성적 요인 및 음악적 특징들이 발라드에서는 어떻게 나타나고 있는지를 살펴보고자 한다. ;Frederic Francois Chopin(1810-1849), born in poland, represents the very spirit of Romanticism through his piano compositions. The Romantic Era, following on the heels of Classicism, not only succeeded many elements from the previous period but also further expanded and developed those musical ideas, genres, and musical languages. However, Romanticism differed from classicism in its subjective expression. It escaped from the strict structures, well-balanced thematic materials, and symmetry in form of the classical period and pursued free forms. The representative genres of the Romantic era were art songs, character pieces, symphonic poems, and program music. In instrumental genres, piano music was favoured both the creators and the listeners, particularly by the composers as a means of expression their inner feelings. Especially Chopin took the important role in making piano of the most representative instrument and maximally developed the expressive potential of the piano. In this thesis, I investigated his musical characteristics and studied 4 ballades with op. 52 that is the last piece of Chopin's ballades. The Genre, ballade is already used form in the middle ages, but at first Chopin applied this genre to the instrumental music. After that time, many composer are affected by him and composed pieces in the same genre. Chopin's ballades made from 1831 to 1842, in his the most active time, are his representative works together scherzos. They sufficiently represent romanticism by a narrative mood as well as his musical character-chromatic melody, bold harmony, tempo rubato and so on-in liberal sonata structure of classical form. In particular, Chopin enormously influenced later generations up to Wagner, Debussy in that he used abnormal harmony in those days, so he has the prominent position in musical history. Written in a free sonata form, Ballade op. 52 represents the main characteristics of his piano music. It consists of three parts, exposition, development, and recapitulation including coda, with hints of variation and fantasy. His highly subjective musical language, shown in ornamented cantabile melody, innovative harmony, various rhythmic interests, tempo rubato, and abundant use of pedal, however, reveal his desire to express his inner most feelings through the medium of piano. Therefore, Chopin has been regarded as the poet of piano music.
