매체를 활용한 고전문학 지도방안

Abstract

고전문학 교육의 목표는 고전문학 작품을 통해 선조들의 삶을 간접적이나마 경험하며, 그 경험을 바탕으로 선조들의 사상과 정서를 파악하여 현재 자신의 삶을 성찰하고 나아가 미래의 삶에 도움이 되도록 새로운 창조력을 발휘하기 위한 것이다. 하지만 이러한 고전문학에 대한 필요성에도 불구하고 현재 교육 일선에서는 고전문학이 상당히 외면 받고 있는 것이 현실이다. 그것은 바로 고전문학의 해석상의 어려움 때문일 것이다. 그리고 현실과의 괴리감도 학생들의 흥미를 떨어뜨리는 이유가 된다. 그 동안의 고전문학 수업은 어구 해석, 어구 암기, 암기한 어구를 바탕으로 한 내용의 심층적 분석, 장르에 대한 구체적 인식 등으로 진행되었다. 이러한 암기 위주의 수업으로 학생들은 고전문학을 입시를 위한 맹목적 수단으로 접근하게 되었고 졸업 후에는 그러한 나쁜 인식으로 고전문학 자체에 대한 거부감으로 이어지게 되었다. 멀티미디어 시대에 살고 있는 학습자들에게 구시대적 교육방법으로 무언가를 교육시키기란 쉽지 않다. 특히 고전문학은 교육 방법뿐만 아니라 내용 면에 있어서도 아이들에게 충분히 거리감을 줄 수 있는 영역이기 때문이다. 따라서 고전문학의 가치를 학습자들에게 제대로 전달하기 위해서는 무엇보다 시간적 거리를 극복하고, 학생들이 고전문학을 친숙하고 흥미 있는 것으로 받아들이도록 해야 한다. 그러기 위해서는 무엇보다도 학습자들이 작품 자체를 감상하며 그 속에서 즐거움을 느낄 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 활자매체보다 영상매체에 친근감을 느끼는 학습자들에게 효과적으로 문학 교육을 하기 위해서는 교과서에만 매여 있을 것이 아니라, 다양한 매체 자료를 폭넓게 활용해야 하는 것이다. 다양한 매체 중 그 단원의 수업 목표를 가장 효과적으로 도달할 수 있는 매체를 선정하여 최대한의 흥미와 관심을 유도해내도록 해야 한다. 각 단원의 수업을 설계할 때, 어떤 매체를 이용하여, 어떤 식으로 꾸며나갈 것인가 하는 교사들의 노력이 필요하다. 본고에서는 이러한 사항에 중점을 두어 <관동별곡> 한 작품에만 집중해서 논의를 전개해 보았다. 교사는 어려운 어구를 주입식으로 가르치는 것이 아닌, 학습자들이 작가 정철과 함께 관동팔경을 실제로 여행하는 것과 같은 기분을 느끼도록 최대한의 영상 매체를 활용한다. 학습자들은 지도를 통해 여정을 살펴보며 자연의 아름다움을 노래하는 정철과 하나가 되어 관동 기행을 하게 되고, 관동팔경의 실제 사진과 18-19세기에 그려진 관동팔경의 그림 자료, 비디오와 동영상 자료 등은 학습자들의 <관동별곡>의 이해에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 마무리로 학습 과제인 ‘관동별곡의 내용 중 일부를 랩으로 만들어 보기’나 ‘관동팔경 관광 상품 광고’를 만들기를 통해 학습자들이 직접 매체를 다루어 생산물을 만들어 내는 활동까지 연결시켜 <관동별곡>을 재미있는 작품으로 기억되도록 지도할 수 있다. 아직 모든 고전문학 작품에 필요한 매체활용 방안이 마련되어 있지 않은 현재의 상황을 고려할 때 작품 하나하나에 대한 수업 지도안이 마련되고 검증이 되어 간다면 향후 일선 현장에서 매체를 활용한 수업이 활성화될 것이다. 그리고 학생들은 좀 더 적극적으로 고전문학에 접근하게 될 것이고 그것을 바탕으로 우리 역사와 전통에 대한 인식을 넓혀갈 것이다. 이는 고전문학 교육이 추구하는 바이고 문학교육이 얻고자 하는 목적이며 나아가 국어교육의 궁극적 방향이 되는 것이다.;The aim of classical literature education is to make students experience the life of ancestors through classical literary works, however indirect it might be, to introspect their present life by grasping ancestors' though and emotion on the base of the experience, and to display new creative power so that it can be used in their future life, in advance. However, even though there is necessity of classical literature education, it is disregarded at the sites of education considerably at present. Maybe it just comes from the difficulty in explanation of classical literature. And also there is a reason that the gap between those days and these real worlds makes students disinterested in it. The classical literature class has been preceeded with the method of annotating interpretation like as explaining phrases, memorizing phrases, and analysing contents in depth on the base of the memorized phrases. It is not easy to teach students, who are living in the age of multi-media, something with this old fashioned method of education. And the more, the classical literature is the subject which can bring the students feeling of gap fully not only in the aspect of education method but also in the contents. We have to make them appreciate the works of classical literature and experience pleasure in the way of this activity so that they may receive it as intimate and interesting subject and participate in the class actively. That is to say, we have to apply various media materials widely to education, not merely cling to the textbook, in order to afford effective literature education for the learners who are more familiar with image media than printed media. It needs to extract maximum interest and attention from them by selecting materials, among the various media materials, which can reach the aim of the unit of the subject. This study has focused on these issues and displayed the research on the base of one work, <Kwandongbyeolgok>. In the study, the teacher uses image media at maximum for the learners to feel like as going sightseeing to Kwandongpalgyeong in reality with the writer, Jeong cheol, not teaching them with cramming method for the difficult phrases. The learners are going sightseeing through Kwandong along with Jeong cheol who is singing the beauty of nature as one with consulting the journey by map, and the materials like as real picture of Kwandongpalgyeong, the painting which described them in 18-19C, Video, and screen would be helpful for the learners to understand <Kwandongbyeolgok>. We can teach it by having students 'to make Rap music with a content of <Kwandongbyeolgok>' or 'to make advertizement for the tour production of <Kwandongbyeolgok>' so as to the subject to be connected with the work which the learners produce production directly with dealing the media as the last part of learning for the subject, <Kwandongbyeolgok> to be memorized as an interesting work. As considering the present status where the plan for applying media necessary to every classical literature is not yet prepared, if we supply and identify the teaching plan for every work, the education applying media would be activated at the sites of education afterward. Then the students would approach the classical literature more actively and broaden their recognition about our history and tradition on the base of it. This is the pursue of classical literature education and the goal of literature education to achieve, and in addition, this is the ultimate direction for Korean language education to take.
