일제시기 官展 산수화 연구

Abstract

이 논문은 일제시기의 관전 산수화를 제국미술전람회와 조선미술전람회 출품작을 중심으로 살펴본 것이다. 새로운 회화를 추구하려는 움직임이 강력히 일고 있던 1920·1930년대에 그 변화의 중심에 일본화가 있었다는 것은 부정할 수 없는 사실이다. 조선미전 초기인 1920년대는 상당한 변화의 시기였지만 급격한 변화 속에서도 역사의식과 민족의식이 투철한 일군의 산수화가들이 독창적인 사경산수화를 제작함으로써 민족미술을 고수한 시기이기도 하다. 본 논문에서는 근대 한국 산수화단의 발전과정에 있어서 가장 큰 오명으로 남아있었던 조선미술전람회를 통한 일본화의 무분별한 수용과 모방에 대한 문제의식에서 시작하였다. 따라서 이 연구를 통해 두 화단이 일방적인 영향관계가 아닌 동시기 관전으로서의 관전 양식의 성립과 발전에 대한 연구를 시도해 보고자 하였다. 나아가 중앙과 식민지라는 이중 구조 속에서 나타나는 관전의 양식과 그 특색을 살펴보고 제전과 조선미전의 상호 관계성을 규명해 보았다. 따라서 당시 전람회에서 전통과 변화의 두 가지 요소를 동시에 가지면서 큰 비중으로 발전하고 있던 산수화를 같은 시기 일본의 관전이었던 제국미술전람회의 산수화와 비교하였다. 관전 산수화 양식을 살피고자 할 때 그 성립의 배경이 되는 것이 바로 심사위원이라고 할 수 있다. 조선미전의 심사위원들이 출품 화가들에게 끼친 영향은 항상 문제로 지적되어 왔다. 심사위원의 영향을 받은 화가들의 작품경향을 통해 관전에서 산수화 양식이 성립되었다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 심사위원의 구성과 그들의 역할, 심사위원의 작품 경향을 정리해봄으로써 관전 양식의 성립과정을 살펴보았다. 그리고 조선미술전람회에 나타나는 제전형 산수화의 유형을 두 전람회 출품작을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 출품작들은 모방형, 응용적 모색형, 새로운 양식의 도입 등의 세 부류로 나누어 살펴보았다. 조선미전의 출품작에서 일본화의 영향을 배제할 수 없지만 그렇다고 해서 그것이 작품에 그대로 영향을 미친 것은 아니었다. 일본화가 그대로 조선미전에 이식되었다는 시각에서 탈피하여 이미 한국 화가들에게 새로운 화풍을 추구하고자 했던 의지의 발현이었음을 다시 한 번 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 앞서 살펴본 관전 산수화 양식의 성립과 전람회 내에서 산수화의 경향과 그 위상, 출품작 분석 등을 토대로 ‘제전형’ 산수화와 ‘조선미전형’ 산수화의 영향관계를 정리한 후 관전 산수화가 근대화단에 끼친 영향에 대해 살펴보았다. 조선미전의 산수화단은 새로운 변화를 수용하여 다양한 양식의 작품을 발표할 수 있는 장이며, 동양의 산수화에서 서양의 풍경화로의 이행과정을 보여주고 있다는 점에서 그리고 한 시대양식을 이끌어내고 있다는 점에서 그 의의를 지닌다고 하겠다. 본 논문은 지금까지 항상 논의의 대상이 되어왔지만 객관적인 비교가 이루어지지 못하고 있던 부분을 두 전람회의 작품을 상호 비교해봄으로써 두 전람회의 관계성을 되짚어 보는 것에 의의가 있을 것으로 생각한다.;This study is about landscape paintings during the Japanese Occupation Period concentrate on entries for Joseon Art Exhibition. It's an obvious fact that there is a Japanese print in the middle of change in 1920~1930s. When there are strong activities for fresh landscape painters. Although 1920's, in the beginning of Joseon Art Exhibition, is a period of considerable change. Artists who has through historical consciousness started to make a in order to preserve traditional art in spite of a sudden change. This study starts from a critical mind about an indiscreet accomodation for Japanese paint through Joseon Art Exhibition which remains worst disgrace during the process of development for Korean landscape paintings scale. So that this study tries to make completion and development of paintings styles under Government-organized Exhibition clear in terms of Government-organized Exhibition in the same age. Furthermore, looks through a form and a feature appears in dual structure which combines central and colony. Landscape paintings which simultaneously tradition and change were compared with the Art Exhibition Imperial period landscape paintings in the same time. When it comes to taking a look the form of Government-organized Exhibition landscape paintings, the thing which could be a background of completion is an examiner. The examiners who influenced painters presented their works to Joseon Art Exhibition were always pointed out as a big problem. Through a tendency of works from painters influenced by examiners, the structure of landscape paintings were set up in Government-organized Exhibition. So that this study examines the procedure of Government-organized Exhibition structure by arranging based on completion of paintings styles under Government-organized Exhibition, tendency in Joseon Art Exhibition. Landscape paintings scale is a part where variety of works could presented with new style. It has a great meaning as we can check the procedure of movement from Eastern to Western style. Also this study objectively examines the relation between two Art Exhibitions by comparing the presented work in both of them.
