The Immigrants were the largest portion that composed American people. Some groups were more successful than others in the adaptation process in America. Culturalists, including Nathan Glazer, Milton Golden, Thomas Kessner and Thomas Sowell, have said that success goes to those who exemplify the correct values, thereby creating a myth regarding ethnic success. They tended to emphasize that ethnicity was simply something premordial and that ethnic differences was to be understood in cultural realm. In short, culture dictates a group's every phase of life in the new world. According to the culturalists' observation that created the myth of ethnic success, whether or not ethnic groups rise in the class system depends on their value systems. To get near to this issue, I studied Russian Jews who came to America in the era of new immigration, putting special emphasis on New York city where 70 percent of those settled. There seems no debate unquestionably done well. The with the fact that Jews in America main issue is why Jewish immigrants and has their offsprings' mobility was more rapid and widespread than other groups those who came to the U.S. in the same time and same areas. It seems that the fact gives way to myth. In my opinion, the importance of cultural values is not to be denied, but they were overestimated sacrificing other important factors. Contrary to culturalists' general assumption, Jews and non-Jews did not start on an equal footing. Jews had occupational skills that gave them a significant advantage over other immigrants who were entering industrial economy for the first time and that enabled them to take advantage of the opportunities in the U.S. And permanent immigration in family unit helped them in getting accustomed to industrial economy. Their economically favorable start and economic stability offered economic power needed for education and occupational mobility of their next generation. Another issue that I want to emphasize is that Jewish success in America was also a matter of historical timing. There was an excellent match between the experience and skills of Jewish immigrants, on the one hand, and the work force needs and opportunity structures in the new world, on the other. The combination of these various factors resulted in Jewish success in America. In order to understand ethnic experiences in a new light, it is necessary to explore the interaction between cultural and structural factors and the interface between premigration experiences and the U.S. social structure in particular time and place. And then we can talk about ethnic success without mystifying it.;19세기말 미국으로 들어온 신이민 집단 가운데 러시아계 유대이민들은 같은 시기의 다른 이민 집단들보다 빠른 경제적 상승을 경험하였다.
