시간을 주제로 한 시각표현 연구

Abstract

예술작품이란 인간의 경험에 대한 시각적 이미지를 만들어내는 것이다. 작가가 하나의 이미지를 생산하여 그것이 감상자들로부터 반응을 일깨우는 문제로 승화될 때, 그것은 하나의 시각적 전달언어가 된다. 인간의 경험은 주관적인 것이므로 표현된 이미지가 감상자에게 전달될 때, 감정의 반응이 같을 수는 없다. 하지만 이미지의 핵을 유지한다면 작가와 작품사이의, 작품과 감상자사이의 시각적 대화는 원활히 작용하여 이미지의 핵 속에서 커뮤니케이션의 무한한 가능성을 얻을 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구자는 인간의 경험에 대한 시각적 이미지의 표현을 위한 하나의 제시로서 인간 삶 속에서의 시간에 관심을 가졌다. 인간은 시간과 공간, 에너지의 환경속에서 삶을 전개해 나가며, 그 중에서 시간의 심리적인 측면은 인간내면의 의식을 포함한다는 점에서 삶의 형성에 중요한 역할을 한다. 시간을 인간의 경험중에서 가장 특징적인 것으로 볼 수 있는 것은 그 속에 자아의 개념이 내재되어 있기 때문이다. 본 연구에서 다루고자 하는 시간은 마음 속에 자리잡고 있는 기억에 대한 것으로, 본인의 관심사는 시지각의 심리적 효과를 통하여 정서와 감정을 시각화하는 것이다. 따라서, 본 논문의 구성은 다음과 같다. Ⅱ 장에서는 본 연구의 논리적 전제로서 먼저, 시간의 개념으로 물리적시간과 심리적 시간, 기억과 시간에 대한 고찰을 하였다. 다음으로 시간 표현의 사례를 살펴보았다. Ⅲ 장에서는 작품제작 및 분석으로 제작의도를 밝히고, 이미지의 전개에서는 작품표현상의 이론으로 시지각의 특성, 형태와 배경의 관계, 투명성과 조형에 대하여 살펴보았다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 본인의 작품에서는 어떠한 관점에서 표현되었는지의 전개과정을 제시하였다. 다음으로 표현되어진 작품 7점에 대한 분석을 하였다. 이 연구의 시각표현들은 본인의 주관적인 경험의 단편과 기억들을 바탕으로 한 것이지만, 평범한 일상에서 도출해 낸 개념이기에 정신적인 연상작용은 유사할 것이라는 가능성을 가진다. 이미지의 전달에 있어서 일방적 전달로서 끝나는 것이 아닌 인간의 상상력을 통한 커뮤니케이션의 가능성을 찾고자 하였다. 본 연구는 기억에 내재되어 시간에대한 정서를 시각화하기 위한 효과적인 표현 가능성을 찾고자 하는 노력이었으며, 기억 속에 축적되어 있는 이미지들 간의 구성으로 자신의 조형언어를 발견하는 과정이었다.;A work of art is born by creating visual images based on human experience. When an artist creates an image that receives reaction from the audience, the art itself becomes the language for visual communication. Since everyone's experience is subject to differ by different attitudes of particular human being, the reaction to particular work of art may not be the same for everyone. When the core of any image is controlled throughout, the endless possibility of communication between the artist and his/her work, or between the work and the audience could be achieved. This study suggests “time” as the theme for expressing human experience in visual image. Human beings live in time, space, and surrounded by energy, and among these, the psychological aspect of time includes the human consciousness and spirit. In this aspect, time plays an important role in life. Time is the most particular of all human experience in the way that it includes the awareness of human beings's inside world. This study focuses on time's character of being remembered in one's mind. the particular interest lies on the visualization of emotion and feeling through psychological effect of sight and knowledge. The major composition of this thesis is as follows: In the second section, the logical premise of this study, the concept of physical and psychological time, and also, the concept of memory and time were reviewed and defined. After that, a few cases of expression of time were reviewed. In the third section, through analysis and production of works, the intention of this study was proved. As a theory of expression in the evolvement of images, the relationship between figure and ground, transparency and formativeness were reviewed. Based on this, the evolvement process was suggested, concerning what point of view were expressed in some works of the artist. Seven pieces of original works for this study were analyzed. Since, through such visual expressions were based on the fragments and memories of artist's personal experience, they were the concepts derived form ordinary, daily life. It is possible that the spiritually associable effect is likely to happen. In this study, it was intended to expect the possibility of communication through human imagination that does not end in one-way communication in the communication of images. This study was an effort to find out the possibility of effective expression to visualize the emotion of time immanent to memories, and it was a process to find out the formative language of the artist through composition of the images accumulated by memory.
