한국적 이미지에 의한 장식 직물 디자인 개발과 적용에 관한 연구

Abstract

도의 정보화 사회로 전세계의 국제화가 급속히 진행되는 가운데 각국은 자국 보호의 일환으로 자기 동일성의 회복을 위한 전통성과 풍토성에 관심을 갖게 되었다. 건축 공간에 있어서도 국제화 시대에 부응하여 자국의 고유한 이미지를 실내외 공간에 부여함으로써 다른 나라와 구별되는 고유의 독자성을 가짐과 동시에 탈 문화적 공감대를 위한 공간 이미지의 형성 및 실내 환경을 질적 향상과 예술화를 지향하고 있다. 또한 고객의 생활 양식 및 가치관의 변화로 인해 발생하는 다양한 필요와 욕구를 충족시키기 위해 실내 공간의 보다 세분화되고 전문화된 목표 설정이 절실히 요청되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 우리 고유의 이미지에 의한 실내 공간 이미지를 개발하는 경제적이고 효율적인 방안의 하나로서 '한국적 이미지에 의한 장식 직물 디자인의 개발'을 시도한다. 이러한 연구는 우리 고유의 이미지에 바탕을 둔 국가적 독자성을 확립할 수 있는 매개체라는 점에서 그 의의가 있다고 본다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 다음과 같은 연구를 수행한다. 첫째, 한국적 이미지를 도출하기 위해 자연과학 패러다임과 조형 사조의 흐름에 따른 새로운 가치관과 의식의 흐름을 파악하고, 한국 전통 조형의 특징을 관련 문헌을 통해 연구하며, 영원한 현재로서의 전통성을 발견하여 전통성의 현대적 표현 방법을 모색한다. 둘째, 실내 공간 이미지 연출을 위한 장식 직물의 제반 요인을 제시하며, 사례 연구를 통하여 실내 적용 방안을 모색한다. 셋째, 사례 적용을 위한 디자인 전개 과정에 이러한 이론적 배경과 방법을 수용하여 프로그래밍하고 단계별로 디자인을 진행함으로써 장식 직물에 의한 공간 이미지의 질적 향상 및 예술화를 도모한다. 마지막으로, 이러한 연구를 종합 검토하여 디자인 방법 및 과정을 타당성을 검증하고, 실재 공간에의 적용을 통해 고유 이미지의 형성 및 공간을 질적 향상 가능성을 제시한다. 본 연구에서 장식 직물의 적용에 의한 사례 공간 디자인 과정은 다음의 단계에 의해 전개된다. 1. 이미지 형성 단계 이미지 구성 이미지 언어 ­색채 구성 ­디자인 모티브 2. 이미지 완성 단계 ­모티브 변환 ­2-D 이미지 3. 제품 적용 단계 ­연출 방법 ­3-D 이미지 4. 공간 적용 단계 ­평면도 ­마감재 ­투시도 이와 같은 연구 방법에 의해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같이 요약된다. 첫째, 전체 이미지를 계획하고 적용 범위별로 디자인하여 공간에 적용함으로써 총체적인 공간의 조화와 질적 향상을 유도할 수 있다. 둘째, 지역적 주변 환경과의 관계에 의한 주제 설정과 공간 및 고개의 특성에 따른 적용으로 다양하고 변화있는 공간 이미지를 형성할 수 있다. 셋째, 장식 직물과 공간 요소의 유기적인 연결에 의해 가변적이고 연속적인 공간 연출과 공간의 예술적 전환을 가능하게 한다. 넷째, 자연 소재의 사용과 과학적인 색채의 적용은 공간의 기능과 능률의 향상을 돕는다. 마지막으로 은유, 상징, 연상 등에 의한 표현의 추상화는 보는 시각에 따라 다양한 의미와 해석을 가능하게 한다. 본 연구는 우리 고유의 전통성에 의한 현대적 표현 방법을 모색하여, 과거와 현재는 물론 미래에까지 적용될 수 있는 우리 고유의 이미지에 의한 디자인 가능성을 제시하는 한편, 장식 직물 디자인의 개발 및 적용에 의한 실내 공간의 고유 이미지 형성 및 질적 향상과 예술화를 실험적 사례를 통해 입증하는데 그 의의가 있다.;Worldwide communications media tends to standardize person's taste globally. Alarmed by what was seen by many as an invasion of foreign culture, an effort to preserve their own culture and traditions has taken place. Many architects and interior designers are trying to find and apply their nations' traditional images to the exterior as well as the interior parts of buildings such as hotels, without loosing the worldwide tastes. However, it is not easy to satisfy the customers due to their various life styles and changing values. Therefore more specific and professional expertises are required. Traditional Korean images as design motives are characterized by their unique appearances, and through such distinguishing features, we may proudly present them to the international communities. In this paper, we attemt to search for Korean intricsic design images and utilize them for the development of textiles. This study was first inspired by exceptional beauty in Korean images as a potential medium to display and introduce traditional Korean style to the international communities. Note that textile design is usually an efficient and inexpensive method for the improvement of interior environments. In this study, some design motives are derived by studying our various traditional patterns and architectures as well as the unique characteristics of a modern city, Seoul. Harmony between the past and present features is first sought after, seeming paradigm between the two era is assumed to have some common ground. Its resolutions are essayed through consolidation of the differences in styles between the two on. In addition the characteristics of various textile materials and the case studies of actual applications are investigated. After that we attempt to develop distinguishing designs through the stepwise design processes: design planning, image construction (image collage, verbal image, color, scheme, design motives), image completion (motif variation, 2-D images), partial application (spatial imagery, 3-D images), overall application (floor plans, finishing materials, perspectives), comprehensive review and feed back, Such stepwise design method helps to yield high quality textile designs and stimulate in creating the designs at the level of artistic forms. From this study, the following conclusions are drawn. First the stepwise design method induces the balance of overall spacial harmony as well as raising the quality of the work. Second, various spatial images can be made by selecting the design theme much related to its environment, and by utilizing the characteristics of interior space and customers, Third, decorative textiles and those spatial factors in interior space especially in connection with continuous organic structures enables the display of continuity of space that has differential property with artistic value. Fourth, efficiency and practical use of space can be improved by the use of natural materials and implementation of scientific coloring techniques. Finally, expressions of warmth, symbolism and some patternings, which induces a memory of some distant past as well as abstract forms of patternings, enables people to form variety of meanings and understandings depending on how they were seen.
