타피스트리에 표현된 기하학적 형태에 관한 연구

Abstract

현대미술의 조형요소로서 기하학적 형태는 자연을 분석함으로써 얻어진 형태이다. 이것은 이미 자연의 질서를 포함하고 있는 논리적인 기본형태라 할 수 있다. 다시 말하면 객관화된 간결성으로 인해 시각전달이 용이한 조형언어로서의 역활도 담당한다. 형태의 구조적 간결성의 요구는 시지각의 필요조건이며, 실제적 표현의 측면에서 보편적이고 객관적인 역할을 담당한다. 그러므로 이러한 기하학적 형태가 섬유의 조형적 특성과 작가의 내면세계와 결합되어, 어떻게 타피스트리에 표현되었는지를 분석할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 산의 이미지를 작가의 내면의식에 의해 재구성한 기하학적인 간결한 형태로 분석하였고, 이 형태를 타피스트리에 적용하여 그 조형성을 연구하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용은 이론적 배경에서 크게 둘로 나누어, 첫 번째 장에서는 기하학적 형태의 조형 및, 사적측면을 고찰하고, 두 번째 장에서는 기하학적 형태의 조형적 특성을 바탕으로 하는 바우하우스의 직물에서부터 현대의 타피스트리 작품을 연대별로 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구의 방법으로는 문헌조사와 작품제작 및 분석을 병행하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 기하학적 형태가 주는 시각적 단순성, 합리적이고 논리적인 질서를 통해 산의 이미지의 표출에 중점을 두었고, 이를 조형적으로 분석하였다. 즉, 산의 이미지와 기하학적 단위형들의 반복, 변형, 배열과 색상의 대비를 통해 평직(weft face), slit기법을 사용하여 표현하였다. 이러한 연구과정을 통해 도달한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 작가가 포착한 대상의 본질적 특성을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 형태로 창조하기 위해 대상의 형태에서 불필요하거나 무의미한 부분들을 배제, 단순화시킨 기하학적 형태는 작가의 내면세계와 미의식에 따라 다양하게 변형할 수 있는 조형언어이다. 둘째, 변형을 통해 간결하게 표현된 산의 이미지는 시각전달이 명쾌하며 동시에 타피스트리 제작에 있어서 용이하게 표출할 수 있는 특성이 있다고 할 수 있다.;A geometric form, which is one factor of modern plastic art is obtained by analyzing nature. It is a logical fundamental form which already includes the order of nature. Through objective simplicity, this plastic language makes visual communication easy. The need for simple structural form is a requirement for the visual sense and in terms of practical expression, it plays a universal and objective part in it. Therefore it needs to be analyzed how it is expressed on a tapestry, combining the plastic characteristics and geometric forms. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the imagery of mountains with simple geometric forms and study plastic art by adapting the artist's spirit to a tapestry. The contents of this study can be devided into 2 parts of a theoretical background. Chapter Ⅰ reviews the plastic and historical side and chapter Ⅱ deals with the weavings at Bauhaus, which we based on the plastic characteristics of geometric forms that have been gathered and analyzed in chronological order. In manufacturing works, the unified visual simplicity from geometric forms, the rational and logical order, and the sensitive familiarity of a plain tapestry were analyzed. The methods of thesis were referring to documents, manufacturing-weaving, and analyzing work. Repetition, transformation, arrangement and contrasting colors of geometricunits of mountain image were all expressed by weft face and slit technique. This study drew the following results : First, geometric form is a language which can express various artist's spirit and sense of beauty. Second, plastic form portrays the image of mountain to be simple and it has a characteristic of easy visual communication.
