꽃 이미지의 환상적 표현

Abstract

As one of the most satisfiable expressional objects of nature, the flower has come under a endless subject matter to artists, for it has not only such unique beautiful elements as its own shape, color and texture but also a fantastic colour and structural character. Modern senses and oriental feelings of the flower are well matched ecologically, but more should he emphasized that it takes on lyrical beauty and vitality. When visualizing its image, therefore, a pursuit for an original figurative beauty was conducted by expressing not mere a copy from a flower but an image world of the artist. As a theoretical background for this insight, the objects and images, metamorphosis and expressions, image of a fantasy appeared in the history of art were inquired into. Art-pieces were made according to the theoretical survey and the results of the survey through analysing them could be summarized as follows : First, a predominantly original world of figurativeness could be pursued by shaping the flower not as it is seen but as an image language of the artist. Second, the theme could be brought into relief strongly by transforming the realistic forms of the flower into some primitive lines or faces through processes of abbreviation and metamorphosis. Third, fantastic effects on the canvas could be transcription by abbreviating some forms in the copying process. And, fourth, a beauty of new harmony and order could be obtained by the encounter of the soft, lyrical flower forms with the geometrical faces.;예술가에게 자연은 언제나 표현대상이 되고 있는바, 이 자연 대상물 중에서 가장 우리의 미감을 만족시켜 주는 것을 찾을 수 있다면 그것은 「꽃」일 것이다. 꽃은 그 자체의 생김새, 색채, 질감과 같은 고유한 아름다움 뿐 아니라 그가 갖는 환상적 색채와 구조적 특질 때문에 예술가에게 끊임없는 연구대상이 되어 왔다고 하겠다. 꽃은 그 생태 자체가 현대적인 감각과 동양적인 느낌의 매치가 좋은 까닭도 있겠지만 꽃에서 느껴지는 서정적 아름다움과 생명력에 있다. 따라서 본 연구자는 꽃을 대상으로 그 꽃의 이미지를 시각화하는 과정에서 꽃의 단순한 모사가 아닌, 연구자의 심상언어로 표현함으로써 독창적인 조형미를 추구하는데에 연구의 목적을 두고자 한다. 이를위한 이론적 배경으로 미술사에 나타난 대상과 심상, 변형과 표현, 환상적 이미지에 대하여 고찰해 보았고, 이러한 이론을 토대로 작품제작과 이의 분석을 통해 이론적으로 연구한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 꽃을 보이는 대로가 아닌 연구자의 심상언어로 형상화시킴으로써 독자적인 조형세계를 추구할 수 있었다. 둘째, 사실적 형태의 꽃을 생략과 변형을 통해서 원초적인 선이나 면으로 변형함으로해서 주제를 더욱 강하게 부각시킬 수 있었다. 셋째, 전사하는 과정에서 부분적으로 형태를 생략함으로해서 화면에 환상적 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 넷째, 부드러운 꽃의 서정적 형태에 기하학적 면과의 만남은 새로운 조화와 질서의 미를 얻을 수 있었다.
