민속춤의 민중의식과 현대적 계승에 관한 예비적 고찰

Abstract

민속춤은 민중의식의 현장으로서 나타나고, 민중이 생활하고 생존하는 한 민중의식은 끊임없이 변화하는 역사속에서 시대를 반영하는 전승의 과정으로서 사회발전의 원동력이 되어왔다. 현대한국무용, 다시말해 한국무용의 현대화 작업이 어떠한 방향으로 나아가야 하는가의 문제는 민속춤의 민중의식을 통한 예비적 고찰로서 하나의 실마리를 찾을 수 있겠다. 민속춤의 근원에는 한국인의 정신, 즉 민중적 생활표현의 원천인 공동체적 신명이 깊게 뿌리내리고 있으며 그것은 시대변천의 삶 속에서 "살아있는 생명체"로 존재한다. 이러한 한국인의 정신과 표정인 민속춤은 이 시대에 맞게 계승되어야 하며, 그것은 국민 누구나가 함께 즐길 수 있는 민중예술로 한민족의 공동체적 일체감을 심어 줄 수 있어야 한다. 또한 이러한 민중의식의 일체감에서 유추되는 공감성, 다시말해 생활속에 살아있는 공동체험을 통한 공감대의 형성은 현대 한국무용이 갖추어야 할 하나의 요건으로 제시된다. 따라서 그것의 과제로는 오늘의 우리가 처해있는 역사적·사회적 상황내에서 민중의 정신을 살려내어 지난시대의 민속춤이 아닌 오늘의 민속춤으로 발전시켜야 하는 것이며, 그것은 오늘날 현대 한국무용이 지향해 나아갈 하나의 방법론적인 모식이고 오늘날의 무용인들이 재고해 볼 문제로 대두된다. 본고에서는 문헌을 중심으로 하여 민속춤 가운데 민중의식이 강하게 나타나고 있는 무속춤·탈춤·풍물굿춤에 대한 고찰과 이러한 자료를 토대로 민속춤의 현대적 계승에 있어서의 방법과 그 과제를 중점적으로 다루어 나가면서 결론적으로 이러한 공동체적 신명을 통한 민중정신을 오늘날 현대한국무용이 나아가야 할 하나의 방법론으로 제시해보고자 한다.;Folk dance is shown as a field of mass ceremony, which has been motive of social development as a process of transmission that reflects the period in the endless changing history, as long as people exist. With the question where the modernization of Korean traditional dance has to go for, we can get one of the clues, approaching Folk dance. In the origin of Folk dance, 'the Korean spirit', that is,'associative delight'-the origin to express the lives of people has been deeply rooted, which exists as 'living thins' in the changing lives. Folk dance, the Korean spirit and face, has to be succeeded in harmony with the flow of the period, and it has to give associative unification to people as "mass art". The "fellow feeling" (sympathy) analogized from unification of mass ceremony, that is, formation of the fellow feeling through living experience, is presented as anecessity, that Korean modern dance has to prosess. It's the task 1.hat we have to give a life to mass spirit ans develop it as toda's folk dance, not the folk dance in the past, in the social, historical condition we face. Also, that is what the Korean dance has to seek and today's dancers have to consider. In this thesis, the method and the task in the modern succession of folk dance in the base of the study about "Musok dance," "Mask dance" and "Nogak"-in there mass spirit is strongly presented -is mainly treated, and the mass spirit through "associative delight" is presented as methodology that Korean modern dance has to head for.
