Abstract
In this thesis, gold-leaf pattern, one of the finest Korean traditional and cultural assests has emphasized on our modern fashion for the purpose of keeping "our Korean traditional work of art" by researching all the exsiting literature citation and actual model. This gold-leaf has no clear record however many scholars presume that it has introduced from China and observated through Chinese fabric, woven with gold thread and Korean have created gold-leaf pattern with their own technology. There ate various patterns such as animals, plants, fortune mark or sign, geometry and nature and these are net only for decorating purpose but they express directly a human being's wish-long life, wealth and honor, and a notion of preferring a baby boy. These valuable pattern was not at allowed to the general public to purchase until the treaty of the Japanese annexation of Korea in the end of Chosun Dynasty period where all laws had changed and became popular to everyone. As for the time change and development of modern technology, the production of this gold-leaf has a bland new process which is combinding traditional and modern process with an art of printing. As for the marking plan, the gold-leaf pattern has also rearranged with traditional and existed modern developed pattern. By using various subjects of material, each gets different effect. In conclusion, these are unlimited ways to adapt the gold-leaf pattern from the field of its traditional design to the modern dress and costume and to perspect the possibility of new modern image from where we are living on the tine of reactionism.
