아동의 유능감 지각이 내적동기에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 자신의 유능감 지각이 내적동기에 주는 영향과 내적동기의 관련 변인들을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구는 흥미로운 관계에서 상황이 통제적일 때 개인은 유능감 지각을 기반으로 하면서 내적동기가 변화할 것이라는 가설을 검증해 보았다. 즉, 통계적인 상황일 경우 낮게 유능감을 지각하는 아동적 경우는 흥미로운 과제에 대한 내적동기가 감소되지만, 높은 유능감 지각의 아동은 내적동기를 그대로 유지시킬 것으로 예견하였다. 반면에, 비통제 상황의 경우는 유능감 지각의 수준에 따른 차이가 없을 것으로 보았다. 또한, 내적동기와 여러 변인들 (개인적 중요성, 난이도, 과제 유능감, 긴장, 도전감)의 관련을 알아 보고자 하였다. 연구의 피험자는 국민학교 3 학년 아동 82명으로, 유능감 지각 수준과 홍미의 기저선을 측정한 일주일 후에, 이들은 통제적 집단과 비통제 집단의 2조건으로 나누어 졌다. 홍미있는 과제로는 미로퍼즐이 사용되었으며, 내적 흥미점수와 자유선택에서의 미로퍼즐의 선택여부가 작 집단에서 비교되었다. 또한 관련된 변인들과 내적 흥미와의 상관을 알아보았다. 이러한 비교들은 2×2×2 (집단×유능감 지각×흥미 변화)의 실험설계로 변량분석되고 결과처리 되어 졌다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 결과는 다음과 같다. 1 . 상황이 통계적일때 아동은 유능감 지각에 의존해서 내적동기가 변화되는데 높은 유능감 지각 아동이 내적동기를 그대로 유지시키는 반면, 낮은 유능감 지각 아동은 저하됨을 보인다. 한편, 비통제 상황에서는 모든 아동들이 높아진 내적동기를 보고했다. 2. 행동척도로 알아본, 자유선택에서 미로퍼즐 선택의 여부는 큰 차이를 보이지는 않지만, 유의한 차에 근접점하면서 (p<.1) 통계적 집단의 낮은 유능감 지각 아동들만이 미로퍼즐을 적게 선택하는 결과를 보이고 있다. 3. 집단조건과 유능감 지각 수준의 각각에서 나누어본 흥미와 관련 변인들간의 상관도는 우리에게 유능감 지각이라는 개인변인이 내적동기에 영향주고 있음을 암시해 주면서, 결국은 내적동기가 과제에서의 도전감과 유능한 수행에 대한 개인적 중요성과 큰 정적 관련이 있음을 밝혀 주고 있다. 이러한 결과들은 자신의 유능감 지각이라는 인성적 특성이 내적동기에 영향을 준다는 맥락으로 논의되어지며, 또한 내적동기와 관련 변인들, 통제·비통제 상황간의 차이가 논의된다.;The purpose of this study was to examine the children's perceived competence and the various variables on the intrinsic motivation. It was hypothesized that when an interesting task was given under controlling situation, the intrinsic motivations of the children will be changed on the basis of the perceived competence. Total of 82 third graders were pre-tested on the perceived competence level and the baseline for interest were estimated. Them the subjects were divided into controlling situation and uncontrolling situation. Maze puzzles were given to subjects as an interesting task. The intrinsic interest scores and the selection of the maze puzzle were compared and analyzed by 2×2×2 (group×perceived competence×interest change). The results are as follows: 1. Under the controlling situation condition the intrinsic motivation was varied according to the children's perceived competence. Children with high perceived competence was induced. Under the uncontrolling condition, the intrinsic motivation of the children were enhanced. 2. The selection of maze puzzle under the free choice situation by behavior scale shows almost significant differences(p<.1). Only children with low perceived competence under controlling situation selected fewer maze puzzles. 3. When the conditions were seperately analyzed by levels, the interest and the related variables were related. This results shows that the perceived competence which is an individual variable effects intrinsic motivation. Therefore, there is a positive relation between the degree of task challenge and the personal importance in intrinsic motivation. The results of this study shows personality characteristic of perceived competence does effect the intrinsic motivation and the implications of these results are discussed.
