중학교 신·구 과학 교과서 중 생물 영역에 대한 실험·관찰의 검토

Abstract

The biology course in the current and the former science textbooks (15 of 5 kinds) in the Korean Middle Schools revised recently by the new curriculum were analyzed with special respect to experiments and compared with the former ones (3 of 3 kinds). The results obtained are as follows: 1. The total numbers of experiment units were counted to be 182 (36.4 in average) in the current editions showing not a remarkable change as compared with the former ones (35 in average). Instead, the conspicuous difference of the experiment units were shown among the textbooks in the current editions. 2. A total of 86 experimental items were dealt with, among which only 8 units were found to be common in all 5 kinds of text-books and the remaining ones were variable each other. 3. The most frequently used experimental tools were found to be microscope, slide and cover glasses, glass dishes and the reagents were methylene blue, iodo-iodine pottasium and aceto carmin. 4. Organisms frequently involved in experiments were vertebral animals and flowering plants, it is noticeacle that algae and invertebral animals which were not shown in the former editions were used in the current ones. 5. The contents of experiments were well organized such that preparations and methods of experiments were explained in detail to confirm the contents through asking questions which is desirable for biology education.;1987년 5차 개정된 교육 과정에 따라 발행된 국내 중학교 과학 교과서 5종 15권과 1981년 4차 개정 이후 이번 개정이 있기 전까지 사용 되어온 과학 교과서 3권의 생물 영역에 대하여 실험 횟수·단원명·기구·약품·재료를 조사·비교한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 새로운 교과서 5종의 실험 가지수는 총 182회로 평균 36.4회를 나타내 종전 교과서 35회와 거의 비숫하나 각 교과서간의 차이는 상당히 크다. 2. 실험 항목은 총 86종인데 그 중 5종 교과서에서 공통으로 다룬 실험은 단 8개 뿐이고 나머지 실험은 각 교과서에서 산발적으로 다루고 있다. 3. 실험 기구 사용 빈도는 현미경 검경기구·슬라이드 글라스·커버글라스·샤알레 등의 사용 횟수가 많았으며 실험 시약 사용 빈도는 메틸렌블루 용액·요오드화칼륨 용액·아세트산카민 용액 등의 사용 횟수가 많았다. 4. 5종의 새 교과서에서 사용한 실험·관찰 생물 재료를 분류해 보면 척추동물과 꽃식물에 많이 치중되어 있었고 종전 교과서에는 다루지 않았던 무척추동물과 조류를 사용했다. 5. 실험 준비·방법 등을 자세히 설명하고 질문을 통해 내용을 확인 정리할 수 있도록 짜여진 것은 바람직하게 여겨진다.
