Abstract

This thesis is a study on the Korean proverb pertaining to family and home. The proverb is the most precise and perfect inherited folklore language which has been acquired by the experiences in common people's daily lives. Therefore the main idea of this thesis si is to observe the thought and family life values of the traditional Korean families through the human affairs reflected to proverb language in the basic unit of 'family'. In chapter Ⅱ the background of the origin of the proverb and the category which can be classified as family related proverb are examined. In chapter Ⅲ family related preverb are classified by two different ways, first by the subject and second by the function. The first classification is again divided into small subject areas like conception of ancesters which is the spiritual mainstay of a family, of living and housing, of economy and labor, of by human relations etc. The second classification is subclassified and observed by the function of transmission of the experimental truth, of education, of humor, satire and jest, of transmission of emotion. In chapter Ⅳ, by listing examples of family related proverb, the relationship between literature and proverb because of the character of the proverb. The conclusions from this study are as follows: 1. The god of ancestor worshiped by Korean people has the character of helper, protector of family and evils deity. 2. It is observed that the order of the in family home, if set up as the ideal. 3. The stringency of labor and the self-restraint of consumption of family economy are perceived. 4. The 'order' conception regarded as of great importance in society, is also considered seriously at home. And the function of proverb such as: the function of experimental truth, education, humor as well as catalysis are also examined.;본 논문은 한국 가정관계 속담에 관한 연구이다. 속담은 일반인이 일상생활을 영위하는 가운데 경험에서 얻은 가장 간결하고 완벽한 민간전승의 언어이다. 따라서 본 논문의 주된 관심은 속담언어에 비친 가정이라는 기본집단에서의 人間事를 통해, 전승집단의 사회보편적 가치관 및 사상을 살펴보는데 있다. Ⅱ장에서는 가정관계 속담이 생성하게 된 배경과 가정관계 속담이라 지칭할 수 있는 범주를 살펴보았다. Ⅲ장에서는 가정관계 속담을 유형분류하여 A항에서는 주제에 의한 분류와 B항에서는 기능에 의한 분류를 하였다. 주제분류는 가정의 정신적 원리인 조상과 제사 관념, 주거 및 가옥에 대한 관념, 경제와 노동에 대한 관념, 인간관계로 나누었고, 기능에 의한 분류는 경험진리의 전달기능, 교훈적기능, 유무어·풍자·해학의 기능, 감정삽입의 기능으로 분류 고찰 하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 가정관계 속담의 예를 들어 속담이 가진 특성으로 인한 문학과의 교류를 살펴보았다. 이러한 고찰과정을 통해, 한국인이 숭배하는 조상은 祖靈的 성격을 띠고 있으며, 집안에서의 생활태도를 중히 여겨 가정질서를 이상적인 실천으로 삼고 있음을 알고, 가정경제의 소비형태의 절제와 노동의 준엄성을 인식하고, 사회에서 가장 중요시 하는 '질서 '의 개념이 구성원들 사이에도 작용하고 있음을 알았다. 또한, 그러한 내용을 가진 속담의 기능중, 경험의진리성, 교훈성, 어희성, 감정해소의 역할에 대하여 밝혀 내었다.
