연꽃을 소재로 한 안방용 염색작품에 관한 연구

Abstract

인류의 생활과 밀착하고 교류함으로서 발전되어온 염색공예는 본래 일상생활에서 사용되는 갖가지 도구로서 기능성에 중점을 두어 발달되어 왔다. 원래 공예에서 미술이 나왔으며 참다운 아름다움은 우리 일상생활과 결합되어 있다고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 우리나라의 현대염색은 대부분이 감상위주의 조형성을 추구하는 작품으로 생활에 이용되는 경우가 드물다. 생활 가운데 가장 기본이 되는 주공간에 대한 관심은 과거에 비해 날로 증가하고 있으면서도 수공예로서의 염색품은 대부분 대중과의 만남이 현실화 되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 아름다운 것을 만들지 못하는 시대는 허약한 시대라고 했다. 예로부터 한국미술은 순수미술이 아닌 공예미술에서 많은 걸작을 보여 왔으며 이 속에 우리의 참다운 민족의 정서나 미학이 깃들어 있는 것이다. 또한 염색공예는 일반 조형미술에서 느끼지 못한 그 나름대로의 독특한 아름다움과 표현양식을 찾아 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 이 점을 염두에 두어 고금을 통해 여인들이 사랑하는 연꽃을 표현소재로 연꽃이 지닌 청초하고 고결한 이미지를 안방 실용품에 표현하므로서 우리의 정신생활을 풍요롭게 해주는 조형적인 작품으로서뿐 아니라 안락하고 정서적인 생활을 도모하기 위해 생활용품으로서의 가능성을 모색해 보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 연꽃의 유래와 표현된 사례를 문헌을 통해 고찰하고 염색과 생활과의 관계를 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 작품을 제작하고 분석하는 과정에서 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째 : 연꽃은 그 정결한 특성으로 인해 조형적인 작품의 좋은 소재일 뿐만 아니라 여인들의 정숙한 이미지와 부합되어 주부가 거처하는 안방용품으로 이상적인 소재가 될 수 있었다. 둘째 : 꽃의 자연형태를 구체적으로 묘사하여 구상적인 요소를 강조함으로써 더 친근함을 느낄 수 있었다. 셋째 : 동일 색상에 의한 Gradation은 연잎의 부드러움과 생명감을 묘사하는데 효과적이었으며 공예염의 독특한 분위기를 연출할 수 있었다. 또한 문제점으로는 계절상의 이유로 날씨가 차가울 때 제작한 것은 방염제 비율의 미숙한 사용으로 아쉬운 점이 있었으며 제작상 수정이 불가능 했다. 그러나 이러한 미숙한 점은 꾸준한 작품활동과 연구로 좋은 작품을 만들 수 있으리라 생각한다. 본 연구를 통하여 한국인이 사랑해 온 전통적인 표현소재가 염색의 독특한 분위기로 표현되어 우리 생활에서 가까이 느끼고 감상할 수 있는 계기가 되었다. 또한 앞으로 수공예로서의 염색이 일품공예적인 제작으로 어려움이 있긴 하나 디자이너나 염색가들의 적극적인 배려로서 대중의 실생활 즉 산업공예의 방향으로 확대될 수 있을 것으로 믿어진다.;Dyeing craft naturally has been developing as the various implements which can be use for everyday life, focusing on its function and has been interchanging with humanm life closely. Originally, the printing has been from the craft, so we can say the true beauty is combined with our everyday life. But modern dyeing of Korea has no practical use because of pursuing its formation being subject to sentimentation. Although the interests about a space of houses is on the increase gradually, the dyeing works as a handicraft are not almost popular. The beautiful works of art is not made for a weak time. From the old times, the art of Korea have many masterpieces in the art craft than the pure art and we can find our true national emotion and aesthetics from this works. In dyeing works, we can find a elegant, unique mode of expression which is different from the general formative arts. The purpose of this study is to find the possibility that the dyeing works is used widely for comfort and emotional life as well as for a work of formative art through the noble and clear image of lotus flower is impressed as a necessaries of women's room as materials for living. And the origin of lotus flower and example was studied through the literatures on this subject, and the relation between dyeing and life was considered. Also in the process of making and analysis, the result of this study is as follows: 1. The pattern of lotus flowers is a ideal design as a necessaries of housecoives's room as well as a work of formative art. Because a pure character of lotus flower harmonize with a chaste image of women. 2. The intimacy is felt by flower's natural forms are concretely described emphasizing on formative sketch. 3. The graduation by similar color take effect to express softness and lifelikeness of lotus leaves. Also a unique mood of dyeing is made by a nature expression of waves. In process of making dyeing works, there are some problems. Because of making when it was cold, the percent of material to prevent dyeing is inexperienced still but amendment is impossible. However, I think that above mentioned problems are possible soultons by the other ways with paraffin and continual study and activity. The opportunity which feel ana appricate a unique mode of dyeing works of traditional lotus flower pattern easely is made by this study. Although dyeing as a handicraft has mary difficulties to make the best craft, I believe designer and dyers can make it extend into real life; industrial craft.
