The classification problem of assigning several observations into different disjoint groups plays an important role in business decision-making. One of the well-known classification problems is the prediction of corporate failure. This study applies Artificial Neural Networks (NNs) to the bankruptcy prediction modeling. In applying neural networks (NNs), pair-matched samples (1:1) have generally been used even though sample sizes are different between two groups. The problem arises because most records belong to one of two disjoint classes; for instance, the number of bankrupt group (small group) is much lower than that of non-bankrupt group. Moreover, few studies have questioned theoretical basis about that in NNs. This study, therefore, investigates the link between the ratio of one group (small group) to another group and the performance of the classification prediction modeling, and the link between the minimum number of small group and the performance of classification prediction modeling in neural networks (NNs). The study indicates that the pair-matched samples (50:50) are not the highest performance of this model and all of the ratio and the minimum number of small group have an influence on the performance of classification prediction modeling.;경영분류문제(BUSINESS CLASSIFICATION PROBLEMS)에서 양쪽 그룹의 수가 동수가 아닌 한쪽 그룹이 현저하게 구성도가 낮은 게 일반적 상황이며, 이는 DATA MINING 의 대부분의 문제이다.
