Johannes Brahms Violin Sonata No.2, Op.100에 관한 분석 연구

Abstract

브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833-1897)는 신고전주의의 대표적 작곡가로, 고전적인 형식 및 전통과 낭만적인 표현양식 및 요소들을 잘 융화시킨 작곡가이다. 그의 이러한 음악적 성향은 다양한 음악 장르 중 실내악 음악에서 잘 드러난다. Violin Sonata No.2, Op. 100은 브람스의 대표작으로 오늘날에도 널리 연주되고 있다. 이 곡은 브람스가 스위스 튠(Thun)에서 여름 피서를 즐기며 작곡한 곡으로, 스위스 대자연의 광활함과 여유로움이 그대로 묻어나는 곡이다. 고전적 형식을 바탕으로 하여, 낭만주의적 요소들이 곳곳에 배치되어 있다. 당시 다른 낭만주의 작곡가의 작 품과는 차별되는 작품으로 평가된다. 이 곡은 총 3악장으로 구성되어 있고, 각 악장의 특징은 아래와 같다. 제 1악장은 전형적인 소나타 형식으로, 제시부, 발전부, 재현부를 가지고 있다. 제시부에 등장하는 주제선율은 제 1악장 뿐만 아니라, 곡 전반에 걸쳐 사용되어, 곡의 통일감을 준다. 또한, 고전적인 형식을 사용하였지만, 낭만적인 선율선과 곳곳에 배치된 요소들은 이질감 없이 잘 어우러진다. 제 2악장은 3부 형식으로, 각 부분마다 대조되는 빠르기와 박자, 분위기를 사용하여, 색다를 분위기를 연출한다. 또한, 다양한 주제선율의 변용은, 곡이 전혀 지루하지 않게 만든다. 제 3악장은 전형적인 론도 형식이지만, 브람스 특유 조성의 모호함을 주어, 기존의 론도 형식과는 차별화 하였다. 또한, 주제 선율이 제 1악장의 주제 선율과 흡사하여, 연장선에 있다는 느낌을 확연히 준다. Violin Sonata No.2, Op. 100은 브람스의 음악적 어법이 잘 드러난 곡이다. 2:3의 복합리듬 사용, 특수한 전조를 통한 조성의 모호함, 붓점 리듬과 지속음의 사용 등으로 브람스의 개성이 확연히 드러난 작품 중 하나로 꼽힌다. 본 논문은 Violin Sonata No.2, Op. 100의 화성, 리듬, 선율을 다양한 각도에서 분석하여, 브람스의 음악적 어법과 신고전주의 작품을 이해하는 데에 그 목적이 있다.;As representative composer of Neo-Classicism, Johannes Brahms harmonized classical and romantic musical expression and elements in his masterpieces. His music style is well shown in chamber music among many genre. Violin Sonata No. 2 Op. 100 is his major work which is widely played until today. This music is composed by Brahms during his summar vacation in Thun, Swiss, expressing extensive and relaxing mother nature. This music is based on classical style with romantic elements combined throughout and considered as the piece differentiates from other comtemporary romanticism composers. This music is composed of three movements with charateristics as follow. The first movement is written with the typical Sonata style; exposition, development and recapitulation. Main melody in exposition appears not only in the first movement but throughout the whole sonata which presents united style. Although using classical style, romantic melody line of the music fits well into it. The second movement is composed of three segments with each part expressing unique mood through different speed, rhythm and atmosphere. Variations of main melody eliminates any dullness in the music. The third movement uses standard Rondo style but he adds Brahms' ambiguity to the music which differentiates with typical Rondo style. Also, main melody is similar to that of the first movement such that it clearly gives a feeling of unification in the third movement. Violin Sonata No.2, Op. 100 is also famous for showing Brahm's musical expression by using 2:3 complex rhythm, dotted note rhythm and continuant note. The objective of this thesis is to understand Brahms'musical expression and Neo-Classical music by analysing harmony, rhythm and melody line from various perspective of Violin Sonata No.2, Op. 100.
