이상근의 연가곡 『가을 저녁의 시 Op.19』 분석 연구

Abstract

한국가곡은 서양 예술가곡의 영향을 받아 그 음악양식을 기반으로 하여 발전해 왔다. 한국가곡은 조성음악과 서정적 가곡에 기반을 둔 제 1세대 작곡가들과 후기 낭만적 성향과 현대적 기법을 바탕으로 활동하였던 2세대 작곡가로 나눌 수 있는데, 그 중 근래에 조명되고 있는 이상근은 영남지방을 중심으로 활동하며 음악적 업적을 남긴 2세대의 대표적인 작곡가라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 그는 업적에 비하여 많이 알려지지 않았을 뿐만 아니라 그의 작품들도 또한 묻혀있는 것들이 많이있다. 본 논문은 그의 작품 중『가을 저녁의 시 Op.19』의 전곡을 서양음악에서의 인상주의 성향과 여러 가지 한국적인 음악표현의 기법들을 중심으로 시와 노래의 특징들을 분석 연구 하였다. 급변해 가는 한국 근대 음악에 있어 그의 가곡의 성향이 어떠한 발전과 변화를 보여 주고 있는지 살펴보고,『가을 저녁의 시 Op.19』를 더욱 잘 이해하기 위하여 인상주의적 기법들의 관점에서 분석함으로서 각 곡의 특징과 시를 통한 심상의 표현, 서양 양식에서 국악적 기법의 특징들을 연구해 보았다.『가을 저녁의 시 Op.19』는 시와 노래가 서로 대조적이면서, 때로는 상호보완적 형태를 이루고 있으며, 인상주의적 성향은 선율이나 반주에서 무조성, 박절해체, 불협화적 화성의 사용을 통해 표현 하였다. 반주부의 국악적 연주 기법이나 선율의 시김새적 표현이 시와 곡의 특징을 보여준다. 또한, 반복적 반주 패턴을 통하여 가사와 노래 분위기의 심리적 묘사를 알맞게 표현하고 있음을 발견 할 수 있다. 위와 같이 『가을 저녁의 시 Op.19』는 이상근의 개성과 현대음악 중에서도 인상주의적인 성향과 정서, 그리고 여러 가지 기법의 활용을 나타내고 있는데, 본 논문을 통해 작곡자의 성향과 기법을 통한 표현의 특징들을 연구하고 분석함으로써 이 곡에 대한 한층 더 깊은 이해와 올바른 연주를 할 수 있을 것이라 결론 지어 본다.;Korean Art Song has had a development based on the effect of Western Art Song. It is divided into two styles; the first generation stands on harmonic music and lyrical song, and the second generation stands on music of post-romanticism and contemporary music. Lee, sang-geun is typical second generation composer in Yeongnam province who has an attraction these days for his musical achievement. Lee, Sang-geun, a korean composer, took lead a contemporary techniques with Yun, Isang and Na, Woon-yeong.『The Poem of Autumn Evening Op.19』which is one of his works is a classical song to show how he combine korean songs with the characteristic of impressionism and contemporary techniques. His early songs are similar to works of Debussy, Faure, and Schoenberg that means he pursued french symbolism. The expression of Choon-su Kim's poems is matched with the character in this period. Therefore, Sang-geun Lee combined this feature and western music's school of composition, and applied it to korean rhythm and melody. Also, to close gap between performers and audiences, he used simple voice melody instead of the harmony of ambiguous and difficult piano accompaniment. Moreover, he mainly expressed the relationship between poetic diction and music, and the contrast between voice melody and piano accompaniment. 『The Poem of Autumn Evening Op.19』shows the image of poems with various ways based on an impressionist tendency. Each poem has both Korean traditional technique and contemporary music, and this techniques put korean's heart and soul into his works. The works of Lee, Sang-geun have elements both late romantic and contemporary, so interpreting and understanding his works and purpose are requirement for performers. This paper is the study about 『The Poem of Autumn Evening Op.19』, analysed characteristic of its poem and song focusing on its music style based on impressionism and contemporaries and its various way using korean traditional music methods as well. I took a process researching the progress and alteration of music style and art song that the composer had, throughout korean modern music period which had a rapid changes while he had been through. At the same time, to understand 『The Poem of Autumn Evening Op.19』 well, I studied korean music technique in the work of western music and imagery articulate of literature in the view of impressional trend and contemporary music feature. For the conclude, 『The Poem of Autumn Evening Op.19』 shows impressional styles includes the own characteristic of Lee, Sang-geun and his sentiment through his various music performing technique. It would be possible to perform in accurate way understanding tendency of composer and his description using the musical methods through this paper.
