센서 네트워크에서 효율적인 집계 연산을 위한 점진적 뷰 관리 기법

Abstract

센서 네트워크는 스스로 센싱하고 계산하고 무선으로 서로 통신할 수 있는 센서들의 네트워크이다. 센서 네트워크의 특징으로는 네트워크 자체적으로 관리가 되어야 하고 제어하기 힘들고 배터리 전원이여서 에너지 효율성을 크게 고려해야 한다는 것이다. 실제 네트워크상에서 사용자가 알고 싶어 하는 값은 순수한 센서의 순간적인 데이터보다는 평균값이나 최대값 같은 집계값을 필요로 하는 경우가 대부분이다. 그래서 데이터베이스 연산자 중 집계값을 구하는 서비스가 매우 중요하며 본 연구에서는 센서 네트워크에서 집계값을 효율적으로 제공하기 위하여 데이터웨어하우징에서 연구되고 있는 실체화 뷰를 정의하여 빠른 질의 처리를 가능케 하고 점진적 뷰 관리기법을 적용한 뷰 갱신 방법으로 메모리 및 에너지 효율적으로 집계 연산 질의를 처리하는 방법을 제안하고 구현하였다. 이를 위해서 집계 그룹화에 대해서 기존에 지원되지 않았던 DURING절을 추가하여 특정 시간 구간 동안 센서 값을 누적하도록 하였으며 센서 네트워크를 데이터베이스로 구현하는 시도들 중 네트워크상으로 질의를 주고받는 형태인 UC Berkeley에서 개발한 TinyDB를 기반으로 실체화 뷰를 구현하고 실험하였다.;The increasing interest on processing data created by sensor networks has evolved into approaches to implement sensor networks as databases. The aggregation operator, which calculates a value from a large group of data such as computing averages or sums, etc. is an essential function that needs to be provided when implementing such sensor network databases. This work proposes to add the DURING clause into SQL to calculate values during a specific long period and suggests a way to implement the aggregation service in sensor networks by applying materialized view and incremental view maintenance techniques that is used in data warehouses. In sensor networks, data values are passed from child nodes to parent nodes and an aggregation value is computed at the root node. As such root nodes need to be memory efficient and low powered, it becomes a problem to recompute aggregate values from all past and current data. Therefore, applying incremental view maintenance techniques can reduce the memory consumption and support fast computation of aggregate values.
