다문화 가정 초등학생을 위한 읽기 자료 개발 연구

Abstract

국내 여성 이민자와 외국인 노동자의 수가 급증함에 따라 한국은 빠르게 다문화사회로 진입하고 있다. 이렇게 다문화가정의 수가 증가하면서 다문화가정 자녀들의 한국어 교육의 중요성은 더욱 커지고 있다. 다문화가정 자녀들은 그들의 부모가 외국인이기 때문에 국내 일반 가정 자녀들과 비교해 한국어 능력 향상이 느리고 부족한 점이 많으며 특히 구어적 능력 보다는 문어적 의사소통 능력에서 이러한 문제점이 더욱 극명하게 나타난다. 따라서 일반 가정 자녀들과 다문화가정 자녀들의 한국어 능력 차이를 극복하기 위해 한국어 교육은 구어와 문어의 균형을 이루어 체계적으로 이루어져야 한다. 읽기는 다문화가정 초등학생들이 그들의 일상생활에서 뿐만 아니라 학습할 때 다양한 정보와 지식을 얻고 활용하는데 중요한 기능을 한다. 그러므로 한국어 읽기 수업에서 다양한 유형의 읽기 자료를 접해보고 이를 실생활과 그들의 교과학습에 활용할 수 있도록 지도해야 한다. 본 연구는 현재 다문화가정 자녀들을 위해 개발된 교재에 충분한 읽기 자료가 포함되지 않다는 점을 문제로 제기하고, 학습자와 교사의 요구를 바탕으로 하여 학습자의 읽기 능력을 향상시키기 위해 사용할 수 있는 읽기 자료를 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. Ⅱ장에서는 다문화가정 자녀들을 위한 읽기 교육의 특성을 학습자로서의 다문화가정 자녀들의 특성, 읽기 자료의 유형과 내용 등을 정리하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 본 연구의 서울시 소재 초등학교의 다문화가정 자녀들과 담당 교사를 통해 설문조사를 실시한 결과, 학습자의 읽기태도, 읽기 자료에 대한 요구를 알아보았다. Ⅳ장에서는 다문화가정 자녀들을 대상으로 개발된 교재인 ·한국어가 좋아요1, 2· 교재 내 읽기 텍스트의 유형과 주제를 분석하였다. Ⅴ장에서는 Ⅲ장에서 실시한 요구조사의 결과와 Ⅳ장에서의 교재분석 결과를 바탕으로 읽기 자료 개발의 원리를 다음과 같이 설정하였다. 첫째, 실생활에 자주 접하는 실제적인 텍스트를 사용해야 한다. 둘째, 다문화가정 자녀들이 국내 학교생활과 나아가 한국사회에서 적응하여 살아가는 데 도움이 되는 주제와 내용으로 읽기 자료를 구성해야한다. 셋째, 학습자가 아동이기 때문에 읽기 자료는 다양한 삽화와 실질적인 도표 등을 포함해야 한다. 넷째, 듣기, 말하기, 쓰기로 연계되어 다양한 의사소통 기능을 익힐 수 있는 유형의 읽기 자료를 개발한다. 다섯째, 다문화적 가치가 존중될 수 있는 내용과 방법으로 구성한다. 그리고 실제적인 읽기 자료를 얻을 수 있는 매체로는 초등학교 교과서, 인터넷, 아동 도서, 신문 등을 제시하여 그 효용성과 사용상의 유의점을 밝혔다. 본 연구를 통해 다문화가정 자녀들의 읽기 교육의 중요성과 읽기 교육이 체계적으로 이루어져야 할 필요성을 밝히고, 교사들이 실제 교육 현장에서 다양한 읽기 자료를 개발하여 다문화가정 자녀들의 실제적인 읽기 능력을 향상시키는 데 도움을 주고자 하였다.;As the number of domestic female marriage immigrants and foreign workers increase rapidly, Korea is changing into the multi-cultural society as well. As the number of multi-cultural homes increase, the Korean education issue of multi-cultural homes' children has emerged as a social issue. Children from multi-cultural homes have been brought up under foreign parents, and their pace of Korean language development is slower than regular Korean homes' children of the same age. Such issue was found to be more critical in elementary school. In other words, the difference in Korean language ability between children from multi-cultural homes and from regular Korean homes is getting larger. In order to reduce such differences, Korean language education for them has to be accomplished in well-balanced spoken and literary language. Reading is very important to get various informations and knowledges for their study as well as living. In Chapter Ⅰ, the purpose of this study is the developing of reading materials which can be used as a supplementary text, for enhancing reading ability of children from multi-cultural homes. In Chapter Ⅱ, the distinctive features of reading education for children from multi-cultural homes are presented; charateristics of learners, types and contents of reading text. In Chapter Ⅲ, And through the survey which is conducted in one elementary school in Seoul, learner's attitude of reading Korean and demand for Korean learning and teaching materials for reading have been analyzed. In Chapter Ⅳ, it is presented that the type of text, contents in the textbook through the analysis of current textbooks for children from multi-cultural homes. In Chapter Ⅴ, the basic principles for developing reading text are proposed as follows. First, the authentic text in actual life should be used. Second, the topic and the content of text should be helpful for adjusting to learn's school life and Korean society. Third, as the learn's are children, reading text should be with the various illustration and authentic diagram in order to draw learner's interest. Fourth, it should be possible to practice the reading activity through the tasks connecting listening, speaking and writing. Fifth, the content of reading text should respect various cultures. Moreover, it is also presented that sources to get authentic reading text such as elementary school textbook, internet, children book for regular Korean kids, newspapers and so on. This study is presenting the necessity and importance of reading education for children from multi-cultural homes and help teachers practically develop reading text.
