프로젝트 접근법을 중심으로 한 유아음악교육의 효과적 운영에 대한 실행연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 프로젝트 접근법을 중심으로 만 5세 유아들의 음악교육을 효과적으로 운영하기 위한 방안을 모색하여 실행하고, 운영방안이 유아들에게 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 데 있다. 연구 목적에 따라 설정한 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 프로젝트 접근법을 중심으로 한 유아음악교육의 효과적 운영방안은 무엇인가? 2. 프로젝트 접근법을 중심으로 한 유아음악교육의 효과적 운영은 유아들에게 어떤 영향을 미치는가? 본 연구는 서울시에 위치한 공립유치원인 바다 유치원 만 5세 학급 호수반에서 이루어졌으며, 연구 대상은 이 학급 유아 22명이다. 연구 기간은 2011년 8월 15일부터 2012년 1월 30일까지이다. 연구는 만 5세 유아들의 음악교육에 대한 문제점 인식, 문제 인식에 따른 해결방안 모색, 실행, 평가 순으로 진행되었다. 특히 본 연구에서는 문제 인식에 따른 방향 모색을 위한 문헌 연구를 통해 교수·학습 방법 측면에서 프로젝트 접근법을 선정하여 이를 중심으로 한 유아음악교육의 효과적 운영을 실행했다. 교육활동은 호수반 담임교사인 본 연구자가 실시했고 이를 녹화 및 전사하여 현장노트를 작성했다. 이외에도 일일 교육 계획안, 연구자 저널, 사진 자료, 보조 교사 면담 자료, 학부모 설문 자료 등을 수집하여 이를 범주화하고 부호화하여 연구 문제별로 분석했다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 만 5세 호수반 유아들의 음악교육을 효과적으로 운영하기 위해 전년도 교육과정 분석을 실시하여 음악교육의 문제점을 파악한 결과, 음악교육의 대부분이 교사 중심의 수업이 전개되는 경우가 많으며, 유아들이 직접 경험을 통해 탐색 활동을 할 수 있는 기회가 적다는 문제점을 발견했다. 또한 유아들이 음악적 경험을 통해 즐거움을 느낄 수 있도록 돕는 교육의 목표가 결여되어 있었고, 음악 활동 중 특히 악기 연주하기에서 유아들의 다양하고 창의적인 표현 활동의 기회가 많이 제한되고 있었다. 이에 연구자의 학급에서 나타나는 음악교육의 문제를 해결하고자 문헌연구를 통해 실행연구의 교수·학습 방법으로 프로젝트 접근법을 선정하게 되었다. 본 연구의 실행을 프로젝트 단계별로 살펴보면, 프로젝트의 계획 단계에서 주제를 '소리'로 선정한 후 연구자가 주제망과 활동 예상안, 자원 목록표를 작성했고, 1단계에서는 유아들과 주제에 대한 사전 경험을 공유한 후 유아와 교사의 공동 주제망 작성, 주제에 대한 궁금한 점 탐색하기, 프로젝트 안내 및 학부모 협조 요청을 실시했다. 프로젝트 2단계에는 소리의 전달과정에 대한 실험, 다양한 형태의 즉흥 연주와 그림악보를 활용한 연주, 현장 체험학습, 그림책을 활용한 사후활동과 같이 유아들의 직접 경험을 통한 실제적인 활동이 전개되었다. 프로젝트 3단계에서는 전시회를 준비한 후 학부모를 초청하여 프로젝트의 전 과정을 공유하고 평가하는 시간을 가졌다. 둘째, 프로젝트 접근법을 중심으로 한 유아음악교육의 효과적 운영 방안이 유아들에게 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 유아들은 소리의 전달과정을 관찰할 수 있는 다양한 실험을 통해 소리에 대한 과학적 지식을 습득했고, 배려하는 사회적 기술이 증진되었다. 일상생활에서 다양한 소리탐색활동이 이루어지며 소리에 대한 호기심과 민감성이 증진되었다. 수업참여에 있어서 유아들의 주도성이 향상되었고, 다양한 즉흥 연주를 통해 창의적인 표현력이 향상되었다. 또한 유아들은 음악에 대한 긍정적인 인식 및 태도의 전환으로 음악적 경험을 통해 즐거움을 느끼게 되었다.;The purposes of this study were to find and implement plans to effectively run music education for five-year-olds with the project approach and investigate their effects on young children. For those purposes, the following research questions were set: 1. What are effective operational plans of music education for young children with the project approach? 2. What kind of impact does the effective operation of music education for young children with the project approach have on young children? The subjects include 22 young children in Class Hosu for five-year-olds at Kindergarten Bada, a public kindergarten in Seoul. The research period spanned from August 15, 2011 to January 30, 2012. The research progressed in the order of recognizing problems with music education for five-year-olds, searching for their solutions, implementing the solutions, and assessing the solutions. The investigator conducted literature study to find directions according to the problems recognized and selected the project approach in terms of teaching and learning methods to effectively run music education for young children. The investigator, who was the homeroom teacher of Class Hosu, administered the educational activities, recorded and transcribed them, and wrote field notes. In addition to them, she collected data through daily educational plans, researcher journal, photographs, interviews with teaching assistants, and parent survey, categorizing, encoding, and analyzing them according to the research questions. The research findings were as follows: First, for effective operation of music education for the five-year-olds in Class Hosu, the curriculum of the previous year was analyzed to identify problems with music education. As a result, a couple of problems were identified including music education being teacher-centric in most lessons and young children having only a few chances to do exploratory activities through first-hand experiences. Moreover, there was no educational objective to help young children feel happiness through musical experiences. The musical activity section of playing instruments provided young children with much restricted opportunities for diverse and creative expressive activities. In an attempt to solve those problems with music education in her class, the investigator conducted literature study and selected the project approach as a teaching and learning method for her action research. As for research implementation in each project stage, the project planning stage involved choosing "sound" as the topic, building a topic network, and making up an projected activity plan and resource list. In Stage 1, the teacher shared previous experiences about the topic with young children, built a common topic network with them, helped them explore what was curious about the topic, introduced the project to the parents, and asked for their cooperation. Stage 2 proceeded with actual activities through young children's first-hand experiences including experiments with the process of sound transmission, improvisations of various forms, performance with a picture score, experiential field study, and follow-up activities with picture books. In Stage 3, the parents were invited to an exhibition to share and assess the entire project process. Second, it was examined what kind of influence effective operational plans of music education for young children with the project approach would have on young children. The results show that young children obtained scientific knowledge about sound and improved their social skills of being considerate of others in a range of experiments to observe the process of sound transmission. They also engaged in various sound exploration activities in daily life and increased their curiosity about and sensitivity to sound. They improved in initiativeness in class participation and creative expression through diverse improvisations, as well. In addition, they felt happiness through musical experiences by growing positive about music and changing their attitude toward it.
