열매의 이미지를 조형화한 도자표현

Abstract

예술은 자연의 이상화이며 예술가들이 조형적 표현으로 실현할 수 있는 모든 이상의 대상이다. 이렇듯 자연은 모든 예술의 근원이고 자연을 토대로 창출된 예술은 또 하나의 자연이라고 할 수 있다. 열매로 주제를 정하게된 동기는 학부 4학년때 과제를 접하게 되면서 자연에 대하여 깊은 관심이 생겼고 결실을 맺게하는 열매에 대하여 매료되었다. 특히 인공적인것보다는 자연적인것을 지향하는 작품관을 가졌으므로, 만족스런 소재가 될 수 있었다. 관념적 사고를 조형화함에 자연속의 열매라는 주제를 통하여 진솔하게 표현함이 연구의 목적이다. 열매의 자연적인 외형, 좌우대칭 형태의 구조적인 대비는 열매의 딱딱함과 조직적인듯 하면서도 자연스러운 응집력, 단순한 윤곽들에서 신비로움까지 느끼게 되었고, 삶 전체를 깊이 통찰하게 되었다. 열매는 자연속에서는 생명의 반복이고, 결실의 핵심이나 인생에서는 시작과 끝을, 생명의 존재와 가치를 완성과 유종의 미를 의미하므로 새로운 가치관을 정립할 수 있고 얻어지는 더 큰 가치였고 수확이었다. 또한 신기한 발견은 흙에서만이 생명을 가질 수 있는 자연과 종국에는 흙으로 돌아가야만 하는 인간과 그 흙으로 빚어 표현하게되는 도자의 상호관계와 조화를 느끼면서 열매라는 소재 선택에 숙연해지는 마음과 흡족한 자부심으로 출발할 수 있었다. 본 논문에서 연구의 내용은 이러한 열매를 조형화하기 위하여 열매의 개념적 정의를 고찰하고 각종 문헌, 참고 자료들을 바탕으로 작품 제작에 임하였다. 태토로는 백자토, 청자토, 내하물이 혼합된 점토를 사용하여 다양한 방법의 변화를 나타내고자 했다. 작품 제작의 성형 방법으로는 coiling 및 판 성형, 압축 성형, 이장주입기법, 물레 성형등 다양한 기법을 이용해 유기적 형태로 혼합 성형하였으며 가능한 한 기능성도 배제하지 않았다. 표현방법으로는 열매 본연의 이미지를 부각시키기 위하여 갖가지 도구를 사용하여 질감을 연출하였고 유약은 열매의 차분하고도 단순한 외적 이미지를 살려 중간 배색의 무광택유로 담금법과 분무법을 하였으며 부분적으로는 도자기용 물감으로 작품의 특성이 표현될 수 있도 록 하였다. 열매의 실제적인 색깔과 비슷한 밤색계열의 분위기를 주어 열매자체의 이미지를 부각시켰다. 소성에서 1차는 1.5m^(3) 가스 가마에서 8시간에 걸쳐 마침온도 900℃ 소성하였고, 2차는 1.5m^(3) 가스가마에서 환원 소성으로 소성하여 1250℃에 마쳤다. 3차는 0.5m^(3) 가스가마에서 7시간동안 1000℃로 구워냈다. 열매의 이미지와 가장 밀접하게 접근할 수 있는 것이 도자로서의 표현이라고 생각했고 열매를 맺게하는 근원이 흙에서 비롯됨으로 마치 환상의 커플인 양 작품을 시도하였으며 적절한 대상이었다. 제작과정을 통하여 직접 체득한 경험들이 앞으로의 작품제작이 발전할 수 있는 밑거름으로 삼고자한다.;Art is an idealization of nature, and it is the object of all ideal things which artists can realized with modeling expression. Accordingly, nature is root of every art, and the art based on nature can be called as another nature. My senior project in college made me start to realize the beauty of nature, and discover the amazement of fruit. Specially my affection to natural things rather than artificial things made great subject for my thesis. The purpose of this essay is to use fruit in nature as a subject. contrast between natural form and symmetry form, structure, hardness, bit structural and natural cohesion simple contours all this character made me miraculous. Fruit in nature is a living cycle, the core of fruition but starting and ending of life, existence and value of life, completion and crowning glory makes one's new sense of value be in triangular position and receiving valuable harvest, Also discovering nature could only survive in soil and human being at the end has to go back to soil and from that soil we create a pottery. All this relation satisfy me of choosing fruit as my thesis. To start my work I had to study through pictural data and works which was design from fruit. In my work I used porcelain clay, celadon clay, and mixed body clay. For making various kinds of methods were used such as coiling, slab building, compressing, modeling, casting and throwing. If it was possible I tried to focus on making functional objects. To express an image of fruit I made texture by using variety of tools and for glazing I used medium tone of matt glaze most of them using spraygun. Bisque firing was done in a 15m^(3) gas kilm in 8 hours finishing at 850℃ and reduction firing was done in a 15m^(3) kilm in 11 hours finishing at 1250℃. Lowfiring was done in 0.5m^(3) kilm in 7 hours firing at 1000℃. I thought ceramic was a good choice for expressing an image of fruit and also thinking fruit only can survive from soil made a great reason to start the project. As ending my thesis the experience through the work process hopely would help my future work.
