Abstract
Romanticism is one of the movements of the western art and literature awoked by the repulsion of classicism from the end of 18th century to the early 19th. French J. J. Rousseau cried out "to return to the nature".and upon this opportunity of the paradox with the natural feeling, it was developed throughout the western countries. After the freedom of speech was admitted somewhat since the attempt of 3. 1. independence movement of Korea and its failure, the trend of the western art and literature had been introduced. Aa a result, the trend of all the western arts and literatures were introduced, among which romanticism is one of trends. Due to the fact that Korea once was under the control of Japanese and the colonialism, we were in the state of backward country, and could not receive the literary trend from foreign countries in order. At the same time, we accepted Romanticism, realism, naturalism, symbolism and decadence bv mixture. Therefore, before and after 1920, centering the magazines, "Paehu"and "baikjo", the romanticism of Korea was developed which was not possessed by as complete romanticism as that of western countries, but Should be Called as the beginning stage Of men Of art works assisting the romantic elements. From the point of qualities of men of art works, it was not only in chidish stage but there was so variety though it was roman-tic elements. The magazines,"Paehu" was the symbolic trend of decadence, and "Paikjo" showed the sentimental tread. But the both magazines harbored a complaint against the reality, attempt to escape from it with dream longing for ideal, possessing a hope of tomorrow and trying forgetting the reality, for which it is the same of the both point of views. It is not only "Paehu" and "Baikjo" but this time of an organ of magazine of an association mostly had the romantic elements in the works, and among them, particularly, those who wrote romantic elements in the works are Kim UK, Nam Koong Byuk, Oh Sang Soon, Whang Suk Woo, Park Jong Whoa, Hong Sa Yong, No Ja Young, Park Young Heui, Lee Sang Whoa, Byun Young No and Kim Dong Hoan, etc. Of course, the movement of romanticism of Korea started like this is not ended in a certain period, and replaced with other ism but has maintained the existence to the present with mixed flow of other "ism".This is a characteristic phase of the Korean literature.
