우리나라 신문의 과학기사에 대한 일반인들의 인식 정도

Abstract

In this paper, science news in daily newsparers were reviewed to promote the reader's interest and the desirable direction in editing science columns was suggested. For this study, following steps were processed. 1. Terminologies which are often used in science columns were collected for 6 months(from January to June in 1993) in the Dong-A Daily News. 2. To analyze the public concern about the science news, questionnaire were distributed to university students and general public and collected. 3. Through the telephone interview with the editing staff of daily newspapers, current status and problems of science columns were investigated. As a result, to promote science columns, the following conditions should be satisfied. 1) Helpful for the reader 2) Understandable languages 3) Concrete expression 4) Use of Korean terminologies as possible 5) Covers various topics 6) Specialization of science journalist Also, several recommendations are suggested as follows. 1) The establishment of the Science Information Network(SIN) to share science informations. 2) Managers have to change their mind to recognize the importance of science informations and allow more space for them. 3) Scientists have to try their effort to diffuse science information. 4) Government have to encourage for popularization of science.;본 논문에서는 여러가지 대중매체를 통한 과학의 대중화중 신문의 과학기사를 이용하는 것이 효과적이고 필요하다는 것을 전제로 하여, 앞으로의 신문의 과학기사가 지향해야 할 방향을 제시 하였고, 더 나아가 미래 과학사회에 대처할 수 있는 좋은 과학기사의 제작을 촉진시키기 위해 신문이 가지는 장점을 제시 하였다. 이를 위하여 1. 6개월간(1993.1-1993. 6) 동아 일보의 과학면에 실린 기사들에서 많이 다루어진 용어들을 추출하여 설문지 제작에 사용 하였고, 2. 설문지를 제작하여 20대, 30대 학생과 일반인들의 신문의 과학기사에 대한 인식을 분석하였고, 3. 신문의 과학기사에 사용된 용어들을 분류 분석하였으며 각 신문사 과학부 기자와의 전화면담을 통해 과학부의 현황을 조사 분석하여 앞으로의 개선점을 모색하였다. 그 결과 대중을 위한 신문의 과학기사는 다음과 같은 기본요건을 갖추어야 함을 알았다. 1) 독자에게 도움이 되어야 한다. 2) 이해하기 쉬운 언어가 사용되어야 한다. 3) 내용이 간결하고 구체적으로 표현되어야 한다. 4) 과학 용어의 순수한 우리말화가 필요하다. 5) 내용과 형식이 다양해야 한다. 6) 과학 기사 집필진의 전문화가 필요하다. 이상의 기본요건들이 실제로 신문의 과학기사의 제작에 적용되기 위해서는 다음과 같은 제반 조건이 형성 되어야 한다. 1) 과학 정보 네트워크(Science Information Network:SIN)의 설립 2) 신문사의 과학 기사에 대한 인식의 변화 3) 과학자의 과학 대중화에 대한 인식의 변화 4) 정부의 과학 대중화를 위한 노력
