현실적 형상과 다원적 공간표현 연구

Abstract

In the reaction to the face that post-war Abstract Expressionism set value on expression of subjective internal world, the return to figurative expression named from Pop art rising on '60, Nouveau Re´alism, Nouvelle Figuration succeeded to Ne´o - Expressionism and to the latest Figuration Libre. Alfred H. Barr classified abstract painting into two groups. One is the stem of spirit, that is intellectual, geometric, straight, and classic : on the contrary, the other is the stem of material which represents natural world that is intuitional, emotional, curved, decorative and romantic. In the situation, that is the coexistence of pluralistic, contemporary art styles, the interest about rediscovery of figuration, human and world shows figures of diverse life through new method. And so, in my work, I tried to emphasize the contents and the material rather than spiritual expression and also continue to attempt experiment with formula by the pursuit of newness and the positive will of expressing human and life. Besides, in creating my work, while I take a serious view of induction of concrete figure for communication with the mass. I stand on open attitude that will be able to transfer any main subject to canvas, and pursue the plural expressions acception all several pictorial styles. And through such pictorial language, I tried to discover the recognition of this present time, in which we live in and everyday life experienced from the past and also, the nature world which is our fundamental environment. Simple and comfortable paintings for the mass in the aspects of content, I studied the various ways of expressions of the world in my paintings. Through figuration and visual experience in popularization period refering to Pop Art which for the mass and new movement called Nouvelle figuration. In the aspects of method, I examined on pursuing metaphorical images, figurative expressions and plural expressions to accomplish the liberal ways of creation by using diversified techinques. I compared and analyzed my works with three artists : Andy Warhol (1928~1987) who freely used silkscreen process, and Robert Rausenberg (1925~) who well unified figurative image and abstract expression, Anselm Kiefer(1945~) who shows the scenery of wild nature using mixed media. Finally, through this study, I will continue pursue my own freer and profound figurative world by continuous effort with investigating attitude for the communications of true art in this complicated art world today.; 전후 추상표현주의(Abstract Expressionism)가 주관적 내면세계의 표현에 치중한데 대한 반작용으로 60년대에 일어난, 외적현실에 대한 관심은 팝아트(Pop Art)를 비롯하여 누보레알리즘(Nouvean Realism), 신구상회화(Nouvelle Figuration)라는 구상적 표현의 복귀로 나타났다. 그리고, 이러한 인간과 세계에 대한 발견은 오늘의 신표현주의(Neo Expressionism)와 자유구상(Figuration Libre)이라는 새로운 형상을 창조하려는 움직임으로 이어져오고 있다. 알프레드 바(Alfred H. Barr)는 추상미술을, 지성적, 기하학적, 직선적 그리고 고전적이라 할 수 있는 '정신'의 줄기와 이와는 대조적인 직관적, 정서적이고 곡선적, 장식적, 낭만적인 것들로써 자연계를 지칭하는 '물질'의 줄기로 분류한 바 있다. 현대의 다원화된 양식의 공존이라는 상황에서 형상의 재발견과 인간, 세계에 대한 관심은 새로운 방법으로 다양한 삶의 모습들을 보여주고 있는데, 본인의 작품에서도 그러한 새로움에 대한 추구와 인간과 삶에 대한 적극적인 표현의지는 정신적 표현보다는 내용적이면서 물질적인 측면을 강조하고 동시에 형식적으로도 실험적 시도를 계속하고자 하였다. 또한, 본인은 작품제작에 있어 대중과의 소통을 위하여, 구체적 형상의 도입을 중요시하는 한편 화면에 어떠한 주제든지 옮길 수 있는 개방적 태도와 여러 회화양식을 모두 수용하는 다원적 표현을 추구하는 자세로 작품에 임하였다. 그리고 이러한 회화언어를 통하여 우리 모두가 속해있는 이 시대와 과거로부터 체험한 일상적 삶, 그리고 근본적인 우리의 환경인 자연세계에 대한 인식을 새롭게 발견해보고자 하였다. 누구나 쉽고 편안한 마음으로 대할 수 있는 그림이 되고자, 내용면에서는 대중을 위한 예술인 팝아트와 새로운 역사화로 불리는 신구상회화를 참고로 하여 대중화시대의 형상과 체험적 삶의 역사성에 대해 연구해 보았다. 방법면에서는 자유로운 예술창작에 도달하고자 다각적인 기법의 활용으로 은유적 이미지와 회화적 표현 및 다원적 표현의 추구에 대해 고찰해 보았다. 이에 실크스크린 기법을 자유자재로 이용한 앤디 와홀(Andy Warhol 1928~1987)과 구상적 이미지와 추상적 표현을 잘 결합시키고 있는 로버트 라우센버그(Robert Rausenberg 1925~), 또 여러 혼합매체를 이용해 거친 자연의 풍경을 잘 보여주는 신표현주의 작가인 안셀름 키퍼(Anselm Kiefer 1945~)와 연관시켜 본인 작품에 대해 비교 분석하였다. 끝으로 본 제작 연구를 통하여 복잡하고 다양한 오늘날의 미술 상황에서, 진정한 예술로서의 소통을 위해 끊임없는 노력과 탐구의 자세로 보다 자유롭고 깊이 있는 나름대로의 회화세계를 구축해 나가고자 한다.
