디지털일상을 바라보는 아날로그적 시선

Abstract

21세기의 디지털 기술은 과학, 예술, 문화 그리고 정치와 경제 사회전반에 영향을 미치고 있다. 우리의 일상도 디지털기기들을 이용한 것들로 바뀌고 있다. 이러한 상황은 빠르고 편리를 추구하는 디지털 기술의 이용이 늘어남에 따라 디지털 기기를 사용하기 이전의 느리고 정서적인 안정을 찾는 아날로그적 감성을 다시 그리워 하게 되었다. 디지털 기술로 이용한 일상적 삶이 늘어난다고 해도 우리가 살아가는 현실은 아날로그의 세계이며, 인간고유한 속성과 본질만은 완전히 대체 할 수 없다. 아날로그를 디지털로 완벽하게 재현할 수 없다는 점에서 아날로그에 대한 향수와 애정은 점점 깊어질 것이다. 본 연구는 현대사회의 아날로그와 디지털이 혼재되어 있는 상황을 아날로그적 시선에서 바라본 디지털의 이미지로 나타내고자 하였다. 표현방법으로 디지털 화면의 최소구성인 픽셀을 차용하여 색을 분할하고 반복하는 것을 통해 일종의 규칙성을 가지고 아날로그 감성을 일으키는 일상의 사물들에 덧씌워 표현하는 방식을 택함으로써 디지털과 아날로그가 나타나는 현실적 현상을 드러내고자 하였다. 작품의 제작 방법으로 일상의 사물들 중 아날로그적인 감성을 나타내기 위하여 연구자가 어렸을 때 자주 사용하였거나 디지털이 대신 자리를 차지해버린 사물들을 사용하고, 디지털의 이미지를 나타내기 위하여 화면구성의 최소단위인 픽셀을 선택하여, 색이 첨가된 pvc 점토, 인쇄물 등을 이용한, 모자이크 방식을 이용하였으며, 점차적으로 색의 변화가 일어나는 그라데이션 방법으로 나타내었다. 그리고 디지털의 이진법적 체계를 나타내기 위하여 흰색과 다른색의 조합으로 망점이 격자 배열이 되도록 구성하여 디지털픽셀의 이미지를 일상의 오브제에 표현하여 현실 공간에 구현하였다. 작품 분석을 통해 디지털 화면구성의 최소단위인 픽셀을 단위당 면적의 크기를 키워 시각적으로 드러내는 방법으로 입체 표현을 꾀하였다. pvc 점토를 밀대로 밀고, 그리드를 만들어서 그 면을 칼로 잘라 망점 형식으로 표현함으로써 작품이 가까이서보면 세부적인 부분은 모자이크의 픽셀로 보이고 멀리서 보면 일상의 사물에 디지털이 통하여 보이는 효과를 나타내도록 하였다. 이 논문에서는 현대사회의 아날로그와 디지털이 혼재되어 있는 상황을 아날로그적 시선에서 바라본 디지털의 이미지의 표현으로 일상의 사물에 디지털의 픽셀의 이미지를 덧씌워 디지털일상을 바라보는 아날로그적인 시선을 나타내었다.;Digital influenced not only a physical sector, technology, but also a sector of our mentality such as science, art, society, economy, culture and even politics. We are immersed into the society in which ‘digital' governs our everyday life to the extent that the life without digital equipments is hard to imagine. The frequent usage of digital equipments led people on the one hand to have a tendency to persue more rapidness and convenience in their daily lives. On the other hand, people come to miss the time before the digitalization started and the analog sensitivity of slowness and tranquility. Here comes out a sheer contradiction that people put their foot on the world of analogue, no matter how the daily life is becoming packed with digital equipments. That is, any physical form of the digital cannot substitute for the human nature and essence. From the harsh reality that there is no complete system to convert the analogue to the digital, the reminiscence and affection towards the analogue will be deeper and deeper. This study intends to present the coexistence of the analogue and the digital by way of digital image from the perspective of the analogue. A pixel which is the smallest area on a computer screen which can be given a separate colour by the computer is magnified to the order of substance as a molding expression which eliminates medium value and expresses daily analog objects with a rule of repetition of small units by colour separation like mosaic in order to express everyday with coexistence of digital and analog. Working method is to use daily objects which I used to use but now is old-fashioned in order to detect firm substance of it and draw haman attraction, and to use gradation painting with dots by way of mosaic using PVC clay or printings with colours on it to express pixels for digital image. White checkerboard array is used to express stable bond of binary system. Thus, the coexistence of digital and analog was embodied in real space. Finally, through the analysis of the work, molding expression attempted solid one by way of visualization of dimensions of unit area, and by expressing this visualized digital image with classic objects, it became clear that it is possible to express everyday with coexistence of digital and analog. Using classic daily objects enabled analog features more apparent, and white checkerboard mosaic pixels utilized digital features and the point of contact of the two concepts was found while suggesting actual existence of each other's subsistence as a molding factor. In this thesis, the coexistence of the analogue and the digital from the perspective of the analogue is presented by way of affixing the digital pixels to the daily objects, which makes the physical objects and the digital image overlapping.
