탈춤과 노오(能)의 민족적 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

As unified cultural community composed with integrity of various social relationship, its national disposition or national characteristic means the nation's own cultural particularity. Therefore, to find out one nation's disposition, a culture which is the form of expression that the nation's own distinctiveness is fully reflected should be studied. As representing masked dances in two countries' cultural arts, masque dance of Korea and Noh of Japan can be said that both of dances have been commonly influenced by instrumental music in its original aspect, but its method of acceptance and developing type show different features respectively, and its main reasons can be watched from both nations' national characteristics. In masque dance Korean's creative, realistic, progressive, emotional, openness features and consciousness of 'we' through unification and forgiveness are strongly reflected. Optimistic and human cultural national character other than anything that enjoyed life by doing 'gushing out cheerful play' through large gathering dancing in which all peoples participate, at the same time working off grudge in people's heart through satire and humor of performers, are well reflected in aspects of mask, dance and performance. Traditionally Japanese take on formed role play, minuteness, passivity in prioritizing group community rather than individuals. Dualism like 'Honne' and 'Tatemae' expressed with chrysanthemum and knife is Japanese' representing character. These national disposition is reflected in aspects of Noh's mask, dance and performance, and this point can be found in visages that performers in Noh complete as an art by drawing positive and active participation of audience through abstract, symbolic, roundabout temperate expression. The purpose of this research is to know our national's unique character that should be first solved exactly, as one stop for globalization of Korea's creative dance after studying how national character is reflected on each culture by comparing Korea's representing masque dance and that of Japan's Noh.;민족은 다양한 사회적 관계의 총합으로 구성되어 있는 통일된 문화적 공동체로서, 민족적 특성이라 함은 그 민족만의 문화적 특수성을 말한다. 그러므로 민족적 특성을 발견하려면 그 민족만의 특수성이 그대로 반영되어 있는 표현 양식인 문화를 연구해야 한다. 한국의 탈춤과 일본의 노오(能)는 두 민족의 문화예술 중 대표적 가면무용으로서 그 기원적인 측면에서는 기악에서 공통된 영향을 받은 점이 있다고 할 수 있으나, 그 수용방식 및 발전 형태는 각기 다른 면모를 보이고 있는데, 주요한 원인으로는 두 민족의 민족적 특성을 살펴볼 수 있다. 탈춤에는 한국인의 창조적·현실적·진취적·감정적·개방적인 특징과, 화합과 용서를 통한 ‘우리‘라는 의식이 강하게 반영되어 있다. 무엇보다도 가슴 속에 품어왔던 ‘한’을 공연자들의 풍자와 해학으로 시원하게 풀어주는 동시에, 함께 참여하는 대동놀이를 통해 ‘신명풀이’를 함으로써 삶을 즐겼던 낙천적이고도 인간적인 민족적 특성이 가면, 춤, 공연 형태의 측면에서 잘 반영되어 있다. 전통적으로 일본인은 개인보다는 집단공동체를 우선으로 하는 데서 형성된 역할분담, 치밀함, 소극성을 띤다. 국화와 칼로 표현된 ‘혼네’와 ‘타테마에’와 같은 이중성이 일본인의 대표적인 특징이다. 이러한 민족적 특성은 노오의 가면, 춤, 공연 형태의 측면에 잘 반영되어 있는데, 노오에서 연희자가 추상적, 상징적, 우회적, 소극적인 절제된 표현으로 관객의 적극적, 능동적 참여를 이끌어내어 하나의 예술로 완성시키는 모습에서 이러한 점을 확인할 수 있다. 본 연구는 한국과 일본의 대표적인 민족 문화 예술인 탈춤과 노오를 비교하여 각 문화에 민족적 특성이 어떻게 반영되어 있는가를 살펴보아, 한국 창작무용의 세계화를 위한 일보로써 일차적으로 선결되어야 할 우리 민족 고유의 민족적 특성을 바로 알고자 하였다.
