섬유예술의 표현방법에 관한 연구

Abstract

다른 미술분야에 비해 짧은 역사를 지닌 현대 섬유예술은 다양한 재료와 기법등으로 무한한 발전 가능성을 지닌 순수 조형예술로 제시되고 있다. 섬유가 예술의 재료로 인정받기 시작한 것은 바우하우스시대(1919년-33년)로 볼 수 있다. 그러나 섬유예술이 현대 조형예술속에 새로운 개념으로 들어서기 시작한 것은 60년대 이후이다. 그후 약 10년간의 실험기를 거친 70년대에 이르러 입체형태가 나타 나면서부터 미국을 위시한 전 유럽국가에서 많은 작가들이 보다 새로운 방법으로 연구 제작하기에 이르렀다. 오늘날의 섬유예술은 자수, 직조, 매듭, 편물, 염색등의 여러 기법으로 표현되어 지는데 평면은 물론 입체형태로 발전되어 Relief, Soft Sculpture의 형태로까지 나타나고 있다. 즉, 대형작품으로 벽을 대신해 주거나 공간에 매달려 면을 분할해 주는 칸막이 역할도 하고 있어 현대미술속에 두드러진 새로운 조형양식으로 나타나고 있다. 이 논문에서는 다양한 섬유재료와 기법으로 제작한 작품을 분석하는데 주력하였다. 작품제작에 있어서는 꼴라쥬, 앗샹블라쥬의 영향을 받아 변화있는 표현을 시도하여 보았다. 결론적으로 우리나라에서 활동하고 있는 섬유예술가들은 모두 이땅의 선구적 의욕의 표현자들이라는 점에서 보다 현명한 판단과 실험정신을 굳게 다녀야 될 것이다. 그리하여 섬유예술의 새로운 조형세계를 향한 참신하고도 이념적 창조정신을 지향해야 할 것이다.;Modern fabric art which has a short history in comparison with other branch of fine art is suggested a pure plastic art which has infinite possibility of development with various materials and techniques and so on. It is known that the fabric has been acknowledged as a material of art since Bauhaus Age (1919-33). It is, however, since the sixties that the fabric art has been regarded as a new conception in modern plastic art. Thereafter, with the appearance of the solid form in the seventies through the experimental period of ten years or so, many makers of the whole Europe including the U.S.A. have come to study and to produce by more new method. Today's fabric art is described such many methods as Embroidery, Weaving, Macrame, Knitting, Printing and the like. Furthermore, it is described as even the forms of Relief, Soft Sculpture by its development into the solid form as well as the plane. It appears to be the remarkably new plastic mode of modern fine art. That is, a large-sized work replaces a wall or it serves as a partition dividing the plane in case it hung in the vacant space. In this thesis I applied myself to the analysis of the work produced by various fabric materials and techniques. In producing works I was impressed by College, Assemblage, so that I tried to make varied depiction. In conclusion fabric artistis who are working in our country should have the sound judgement and the firm experimental attitude. Therefore they should have unconventional and ideologically creativeness in mind, aiming at new plastic sphere of the fabric art.
