거미줄의 조형성을 응용한 의상디자인 연구

Abstract

Art is not external imitation of what is seen but the molding of nature`s beauty discovered from observation of the world around the artist. In this respect, Art work provides insights to find the fresh beauty in nature which we might fail to recognize in normal viewing. With this mind, the researcher have chosen to present the new, fresh and changing insights of nature. Specially it can be found in a spider`s web. People generally have the idea that spider`s web is a mass of regularly radiated shapes and has the same kinds of line. It is viewed as a static, repeating shape and form. To see one spider`s web is to see all spider`s webs. This stereotype ignores the individuality and demonstrate that spider`s web consist of many different kinds lines and they contain various shapes affected by numerous factors. Therefore, the researcher focus specifically on the effect of two factors: new molding world by shaping the image of spider`s web, using burn-out technique for different lines and patterns of spider`s web to fashion design. This study, an approach to mold of spider`s web, is classified form of spider`s web according to molding theory of formative arts The process of study is given below: First, the kind, the form, and the character of sider`s web are researched by the literature survey and periodical. The second, the modern works presenting the motivation of spider`s web are collected, arranged, and analysed by fashion magazine. Then, about fifty different fabrics, wool and cellulose, are tested by burn-out technique Eight works are produced based on the above theoretical survey. New techniques for representation will be extended in the reconstruction process of spider`s web. This works puts emphasis on the character of dress as formative art. Materials are selected with the image of each works such as velvet, silk, wool, linen. Also technique like burn-out, knitting, quilting, tapping, patchworks are used. The results of this study are as follows: The first, nature which involves unlimited possibility can be used as the motivation to the formative arts. The fact is that creative and high aesthetic work can be produced by reinterpretation to nature and the selection of material found. The second, New image of spider`s web can be represented by transforming and remixing the basic form of the spider`s web. So, not only external shape but also a hidden beauty of the spider`s web presents a possibility to be the design and molding The third, the researcher examine various different fabrics and techniques for express of spider`s web. Among them are fix burn-out, dyeing, beading, patchworks for specific molding of spider`s web The forth, these days, we recognize that fabric development is prerequisite for fashion molding arts: the researcher test about fifty different fabrics both cellulose and wool. The result, the researcher can certify that to study burn-out technique is not only to make high value added, but also to help express of modern fashion. As the researcher mention above, it is possible to use spider`s web as motivation of fashion design. Also, we do not only focus on function and useful clothing, but one part of formative arts when we study about fashion design. Therefore, the researcher conclude that fashion has been extended by the development of news subject and fabric, also dress as formative arts will be advanced.;예술가가 자연을 표현하려고 할 때는 눈에 보이는 외관만을 묘사 하는 것이 아니라, 무엇인가를 말하고자 하는 예술가의 의지를 표현한다. 그래서 인간의 예술 행위는 새로운 아름다움을 창조하는 대상을 그대로 복사하는 재현이 아니라, 주관에 의해서 다시 구성하는 표현인 것이다. 사실 자연을 있는 그대로 모방 한다는 것은 불가능하며 의미도 없기 때문에, 예술가는 다만 자연에 끊임없이 접근하여 새로운 미를 발견함과 동시에 작가 나름대로 주관적 표현을 하는 것이다. 이렇게 자연의 섭리 안에서 생겨나고 존재하는 인간은 자연의 끊임없는 변화와 생성, 소멸 속에서 미의식을 갖게 되고 예술이란 형식으로 다양한 조형 작업을 하게 되는 것이다. 다시 말해서 예술가는 각자의 눈에 보이는 자연 대상을 마치 처음 본 듯 봄으로써, 지금까지 발견하지 못한 새로운 미를 발견 하도록 부단한 시도를 하지 않을 수 없는 것이다. 결국 조형의지는 단순한 자연의 관찰과 탐구, 인간의 미의식을 통하여 독자성을 추구하는 예술로 발전 시켜서 타인에게 감동을 주게 되는 것이다. 이런 관점에서 본 연구자는, 특별한 아름다움이 없기 때문에 사람들에게 그냥 스쳐 지나갔던 거미줄에서 새로운 미를 발견하고, 그것을 재구성하여 의상 디자인에 적용하였다. 특히 거미줄의 조형적 형태를 중심으로 독자적인 조형 세계를 추구하며 자연미와 복식과의 조화에 중점을 두고 창의적 질감 표현 방법을 모색하여 도입함으로써 의상 디자인의 표현 영역을 확대, 발전시키는데 그 연구 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 방법 및 범위는 거미줄의 종류와 특성을 문헌 및 사진자료를 통하여 분석, 연구함으로써 그 조형적 특성을 파악하고 현대 디자인에 있어서 활용의 예를 살펴보았다. 또한 질감 표현에 있어서 번아웃 기법을 사용 하였는데, 번아웃 기법의 종류와 그 미적 특성을 알아보고, 번아웃 기법에 의한 현대의상 디자인 사례를 살펴보았다. 이러한 연구를 통해서 실물 작품은 총 8점으로, 슬리브리스 원피스 3점, 원피스 2점, 롱드레스 2점, 코트 1점을 제작하였는데, 작품을 제작 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 자연에서 새로운 미의 발견은 인간이 자연에게 얼마나 관심을 가지느냐에 따라서 의미 부여가 다르고, 거기에서 나온 결과물도 많은 차이를 보이는데, 본 연구자는 사람들에게 큰 관심을 끌지 못했던 거미줄에서 새로운 조형미를 발견하고 그것을 의상에 접목시켰으며, 이에 따라 제시되는 의상디자인은 인간에게 자연의 미를 전달하는 매체로서 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 둘째, 거미줄을 분류를 할 때 생물학과에서 흔히 하는 포충 방법이나 생활 양식에 따른 분류가 아닌, 형태에 대한 분류를 조형원리에 의해 과장과 축소, 변화와 재조합을 하면서 의상에 도입시킴으로써 새로운 미적 공간으로 창출할 수 있었다. 셋째, 거미줄의 조형성을 표현하기 위하여 여러 가지 다양한 소재들과 기법들을 사용하였는데, 그 중 번아웃, 염색, 비딩, 패치워크 등은 거미줄의 독특한 조형성을 표현하기에 적합 하였다. 넷째, 복식 조형이 자리 잡기 위해서는 소재 개발이 필수적이라 인식하여 번아웃을 소재별로 실험하였는데, 그 결과 번아웃 기법은 현대 복식의 예술적 표현을 높일 수 있는 아름다움을 가지고 있을 뿐 만 아니라 고부가가치 창출을 가능케 함을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이상과 같이 본연구자는 조형의 세계를 표현 하는데 있어서 자연과 의상, 그리고 인간에 중점을 두었으며, 기능과 실용성 차원의 의상에만 그치는 것이 아니라 의상 디자인이 예술 영역의 한 부분으로써 발전 가능성을 보여 주고자 하였다.
