진보주의 교육철학에 기반을 둔 Margaret H'Doubler의 무용교육 특성에 관한 고찰

Abstract

19세기말에 미국에서는 진보주의와 더불어 건강을 사회와 인류가 진보하는 전제 조건으로 보는 개혁의 붐이 일어난 시기이다. 그러나 사회가 여성의 신체활동 제도화에 대한 사상의 변화나 의상개혁의 개념을 가지고 있었던 것은 아니었다. Margaret H' Doubler는 이 시기에 신체를 정신과 연결시킴으로서 신체에 대한 인식의 변화를 가져왔고 여성에게 맞는 신체 활동을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 진보주의 교육을 토대로 한 Doubler의 무용교육특성을 문헌연구를 통해 살펴봄으로서 우리나라 무용교육의 발전에 필요한 이론적 근거를 제시하는데 목적을 두었다. 연구 결과 Doubler의 무용교육 특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이상적인 인간형성을 목표로 직업의 고려와 가족과 사회구성원의 삶의 질을 향상시켰다. 둘째, 심리학 개념과 과학적 방법을 바탕으로 하여 무용교육이론에 정립을 가져왔다. 셋째, 각자의 개성과 차이를 표현하는 교수 방법을 제시해 주었다. 이처럼 Doubler의 교육 특성은 학생들에게 어떠한 동작을 모방하게 하기보다는 학생 스스로 표현할 수 있도록 유도하였고 학생들의 신체를 발달시킴과 동시에 지적, 정서적, 도덕적 나아가 사회적 발달을 추구하는 이상적인 인간형성을 목표로 하였다. 이상의 결과에 따라 진보주의 교육으로 실현되는 Doubler의 창조적인 수업방식은 사고와 실천 안에서 배우는 자세로서의 무용교육이라는 방향으로 전환을 가져왔으며 20세기 무용학과 설립의 기초를 이루는 등 오늘날까지도 무용교육의 모델이 되어오고 있다.;Since the end of 19C, the innovation which is considered health as the premise that progresses a society and human beings has been booming in the United States of America. But at that time, there were not the concept of dressmaker`s innovation and the conviction related to the institutionalization of female physical activity. Margaret H' Double made human body recognized by linking body to mind. Moreover, she suggested a physical activity to match up to women. The purpose of this study is to suggest a theoretical foundation which needs to develope our dance education by researching Doubler`s teaching method. The characteristics of Doubler`s education are as follows. Firstly, she focused on ideal human beings, which raised the quality of a domestic life and a social organization. Secondly, she tried to establish the theory of a dance education based on psychological concepts and scientific methods. Thirdly, she suggested the teaching method to express each individuality and difference. Consequently, Doubler`s teaching method was tried not to imitate an activity but to express one`s own emotion freely. And going on forward, this Doubler`s teaching method guided students in the path of ideal human beings to seek for intellectual, emotional, moral and social development as well as physical one. Shortly, Doubler`s creative teaching method has brought a new dance education through both thinking and acting and completed the foundation of the dance class in the 20th century. Also, it is being used as a model of the dance education now.
