자유로 이끄는 초월적 공간 표현

Abstract

현재를 살아가고 있는 우리에게 내면에 존재하고 있는 정신의 자유로움을 발견하고자 하는 것은 현실적인 닫힌 공간의 삶으로부터 벗어나 초월적 공간 안에서 자신을 뒤돌아보며, 자신의 존재가치를 깨닫게 하는데 있다. 이런 자유로운 정신은 자신의 허상을 없애고, 영혼의 깊은 갈망인 내적 실체를 찾아 대상세계를 초월한 정신적 세계를 지향하는 것이다. 이것은 우리의 내면적인 에너지를 얻는 일이며 우리가 살아가는데 있어 자신에 대한 긍정적인 새로운 시각을 제시해준다. 본 연구는 푸른 색의 실과 빛에 의해 무한히 확장하는 분위기를 연출하고, 그곳에서 자유로 이끄는 초월적인 공간을 표현하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경에서는 초월적인 면을 부각시켜 정신적인 면을 중시한 사상적 토대가 되는 신비주의를 알아보고, 2차원의 평면에서의 정신성을 추구한 작가와 실제 공간에서 무한한 공간으로 이끌며 초월적 공간을 표현하였던 작가와 작품을 살펴보았다. 표현내용에서는 정신의 자유로움을 이끌었던 무한한 공간의 경험들을 설명하고, 그 공간의 창출을 위한 작품 전개의 모티브와 내용을 밝혀나갔다. 표현방법에서는 표현재료로써의 실과 빛이 주는 특성과 작품 전반에 사용되었던 색채의 효과에 대하여 설명하였으며, 실의 배열과 설치를 통해 얻어지는 결과를 밝혔다. 작품 분석에서는 개인적 체험에서 얻어진 작업 동기를 밝혔고, 이론적 배경과 표현 내용 및 방법에 근거하여 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조금씩 다른 명도와 채도의 푸른 색으로 염색한 실들과 푸른빛으로 창출한 공간은 그 재료들의 특성으로 인하여 어디가 시작이고 어디가 끝인지를 알 수 없는 모호한 경계를 통해 주변으로 무한하게 더 뻗어 나갈 수 있는 확장가능성을 제시 해준다. 둘째, 천장과 바닥, 벽 등을 가로지르며 공간을 최대한 이용한 실의 배열은 그 크기와 규모로 인해 작품과 관람자의 심리적 일치를 가져와 그 내면으로 더 무한하게 빠져들 수 있도록 하였다. 특히, 공간을 가로지르는 수평의 실들은 중력에 의해 살짝 늘어지면서 관람자를 부유하게 만들어 현실감을 잃게 한다. 셋째, 실의 반복과 중첩으로 인한 가느다란 실 사이에 느껴지는 깊이와 실의 떨림에서 오는 환각적인 가상의 시각적 효과는 현실과는 또 다른 공간을 상상하도록 해준다. 또한, 실 자체에서 주는 윤기와 광택은 더욱 신비하게 하여 환상적인 효과를 주었다. 넷째, 작품 전반에 걸쳐 나타나는 푸른 색은 공간을 신비한 분위기로 만들어 주며, 그 색이 가지고 있는 특성으로 인해 무한한 확장의 효과를 가져와 관람자에게 초월적 공간을 체험하게 해준다. 다섯째, 실로 만들어진 공간은 실제 공간을 투사 할 수 있게 현실 공간과 분리하고, 그 곳에서 현실을 바라보며 또는 반대로 현실에서 만들어진 공간을 바라보아 그 공간 안과 밖의 소통이 가능할 수 있도록 하여 새로운 시각을 제시해준다. 이는 모두 무한하게 확장한 공간의 모습을 나타내며, 그 곳에서 관람자는 정신의 자유로움을 느껴 초월적인 세계에 접근 할 수 있게 해준다.;People living their present life wish to find the freedom of mind which exists inside because they want to look back themselves inside transcending spaces and realize the value of their existence by getting out of their life in the closed space. Such freedom of mind is to remove our false image and thus seek our internal reality, the deep craving of soul and to go forward toward the world of mind which transcends the world of object. This is to acquire our internal energy and presents a new positive angle in our living. The purpose of this study is to express the limitless environment which is created by blue threads and light and to express transcending spaces leading to freedom. The theoretical background of this study looked into mysticism which is the basis for an idea which embossed the aspect of transcendency and highlighted the aspect of mind and considered the artists who sought mentality on a two-dimension plane, the artists who expressed transcending spaces with their own method by drawing from real spaces to limitless spaces and their works. The contents of expression explained experiences in limitless spaces that draw to mental freedom and revealed the motive and content of work development to create the spaces. This study explained the characteristics of colors and threads which were used as expression materials and the effects of colors which were used throughout the works, and revealed the outcome of the layout and placement of threads. The analysis of the works revealed the motive of working which was acquired from personal experiences and based on their theoretical backgrounds and their contents and methods of expression. This study came up with the following achievements. First, The spaces created by threads of blue a little different in brightness and saturation present a possibility for stretching out limitlessly through vague boundaries where it is impossible to know which is the start and which is the end because of the characteristics of threads and light. Second, the array of threads traversing the ceilings, floors and spaces brings forth viewers' psychological harmony with the works making them fall the inside infinitely. The horizontal threads traversing the spaces especially make viewers float as they droop a little by gravity making them lose the sense of reality. Third, the visionary virtual visual effects created by the depths which are felt between slender threads and the trembling of threads make viewers imagine spaces different the reality. The gloss and brightness of threads themselves give more mysterious visionary effects. Fourth, the blue color appearing through the works make the spaces mysterious environment, and the characteristics of the colors give the effect of limitless expansion enabling viewers to experience transcending spaces. Fifth, the spaces made by threads separate themselves from real spaces to trace the real spaces, where the viewers can see both the reality and the space made by the reality. Thus, the mechanism which enables the viewers to travel inside and outside the space presents a new angle. All of these show the look of spaces which are expanded infinitely, where the viewers can enjoy mental freedom and approach another transcending world.
