스칸디나비안 모던 가구 디자인을 모티브로 활용한 패브릭 디자인

Abstract

그 시대의 디자인에는 문화적 특성과 사회적 환경이 바탕이 되어지며 인간의 미적 욕구의 표현은 예술로써 전달되고 표현되는 것을 알 수 있다. 카시러는 (Ernest Cassier)는 인간이 동물과 다른 특성을 갖고 문화를 창조한 것은 상징을 구사할 수 있는 능력을 가졌기 때문이며 '예술은 상징적 언어'라고 하며 예술은 외부 현실에 대한 예술가의 내적 반응과 내면세계를 상징화된 조형언어로 가시화하는 것이라 강조하였다.1) 과학의 발달에 의한 산업혁명과 새롭게 대두된 실용예술로서의 디자인 개념인 바우하우스의 영향과 스칸디나비아 고유의 지역적인 특성을 바탕으로 발전한 스칸디나비안 모던 디자인을 분석하고, 산업혁명과 세계 제 1, 2차 대전 속에서 발전해 온 스칸디나비안 모던 디자인의 생성 배경을 살펴보고 특징에 의한 디자인 연구를 하고자 하였다. 1) 카알 G 융 (1964). 인간과 상징 , 조승국(역), (서울 범조사,1981), p25. 스칸디나비안 모던 디자인에는 단순한 디자인, 실용성 그리고 과학적 특성이 반영되어 있다. 단순하지만 간결해 보이는 스칸디나비안 모던 디자인을 뒷받침하고 있는 뛰어난 기능성은 디자이너들의 인간 중심적인 사고에서 기인된 것이다. 스칸디나비안 모던 디자인의 대표적인 디자이너들은 자신들의 역량을 표현하기 위해, 또는 자신을 표현하고자 하는 방법에 있어 과학적인 장치를 개발하거나 기계의 도움을 받는 방식으로 과학과 기술에 접근해 왔다고 할 수 있다. 스칸디나비안 모던 가구 디자인의 특징, 스칸디나비안 모던 디자인의 색채, 조형적 특징과 디자이너의 이론을 배경으로 구성 하였고 이론적 전개는 문헌을 통하여 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 과학의 정밀함을 토대로 디자인 되고 예술과 과학의 실제적 접촉의 총 합체인 스칸디나비안 모던 디자인의 대표적 디자이너인 폴 앤 한네 켈름(Paul and Hanne Kjaholm), 아르네 야콥센(Arne Jacobsen)의 시각적으로 절제되고 실용적이며 기능적이고 자연스럽고 정교한 조형 작업인 가구들을 모티브로 하여 다양한 패브릭 패턴 디자인을 전개하고자 하였다. 최근 컴퓨터의 발달로 인한 디자인의 발전은 컴퓨터 그래픽 디자인을 통해서도 볼 수 있으며 본 연구의 핵심을 이루고 있기도 하다. 테크놀러지가 지니고 있는 본질적인 특징을 예술의 영역에 도입한다는 의미에서 작품 제작과정에서는 컴퓨터 작업을 통한 디자인 전개를 하여 디지털 프린팅을 하였다. 본 연구자는 패브릭이라는 재료의 특성과 상호 보완적인 다양한 형태로 디자인을 표출 할 수 있음으로써 연구자의 작품에 기본원리로 작용되었고 .작품 제작 과정에서 창조적 변화와 색채의 조화, 창의적 패턴 개발로 고 부가가치의 패브릭 패턴 디자인으로 표현영역을 넓히고자 하였다. ;Scandinavian modern design, as a style, first emerged between the first and second world wars but peaked in popularly in the 1950s and is vogue again today. It includes objects designed in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. During the 1920s a new decorative style appeared in Sweden, an elegant combination of modern lines and simple yet traditional detailing the appealed to the developing middle class. 1920s young Scandinavian architects were amazed and excited by the modernist style emerging in Germany and France, which was replacing decorative detailing with designs based purely on function and modern technology. From the 1930s, onwards the social democrats dominated political life in Scandinavian and put into place a tax-funded welfare state program. While Europe remained war-torn and economically crippled the Americans adopted Scandinavian design as the style of preference for a new modern age. Scandinavian industrial design remained successful, but decorative design to fall into decline. Art and science have kept close relation for a long time. It can be said that modern artists have accessed. Science and technology by developing derived continuously or having help from machinery for their power of expression or in their means of expression, and machines and science have accessed arts, vice versa. Therefore, arts and science of today have different purpose. Thus, the researcher, as an attempt to practically combine arts and science, is to suggest method and thoughts of design applying the Scandinavian modern design. Recently computer science and technique has been raised by virtual of the development of computer and information technology. The core of this study, specially, is to create various Scandinavian modern design motive structures using computer graphic and apply them to fabric pattern design. This study, for the purpose of attempting the combination of the Scandinavian modern style and fabric design, and practicing the applicability.
