자연의 유기적 형태를 응용한 패브릭디자인

Abstract

인간은 현대 산업문명의 발달로 인해 예전에는 상상도 할 수 없었던 물질 문명의 혜택을 누리고 있다. 그러나 이로 인해 자연환경은 점차 파괴되어 생태계의 불균형을 초래하였고, 현대인들은 각박한 도시 생활과 스트레스로 지쳐가고 있다. 이러한 결과는 인류와 자연이 함께 살아나가는 방법을 모색하게 하였으며, 자연에 대한 관심을 더욱더 높이게 만드는 계기가 되었다. 자연은 예로부터 인간의 관심의 대상이었고 생활의 터전이었으며, 그 신비로움과 아름다움은 인간으로 하여금 늘 표현하고자 하는 충동유발의 대상이었다. 자연은 수 많은 신비로운 형태를 지니고 있어 디자인에서도 중요한 모티브가 된다. 이런 자연의 형태들은 어느 하나 우연히 만들어진 것이 아니며 합리적인 형태로 이루어져 있다. 이와 같이 자연 현상이나 생물의 성장에 따라 형성된 형태를 유기적 형태라 부른다. 자연의 유기체들은 스스로 조절되는 질서 있는 형태와 구조를 지닌 고유한 모습을 하고 있으며, 각각의 유기체들이 보여주는 형태들은 다양성을 내포하고 있다. 또한 이 형태들은 미적인 아름다움이 느껴져 조형적인 요소로서의 특징도 나타나고 있다. 본 연구자는 디자인에 있어 무한한 형태연구의 근원이 되는 자연의 유기적 형태의 특징을 고찰하고, 미적인 가치를 재조명하여 인간에게 휴식과 편리함을 제공하는 인테리어용 패브릭 디자인을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구자의 작품제작을 위한 연구 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자연의 유기적 형태의 구성원리와 특성을 연구함으로써 디자인에 적용될 모티브를 추출해 내고 예술에 표현된 유기적 형태의 적용 사례들을 분석하여 이들과 차별 화된 형태 표현을 시도해 본다. 둘째, 효율적이고 실용적인 인테리어 패브릭 디자인을 위해 인테리어 패브릭의 특징을 이해하고 패브릭 제품의 개념 및 종류, 특징을 분석한다. 셋째, 이러한 연구과정을 바탕으로 얻어진 모티브를 컴퓨터 그래픽 작업을 통하여 재구성, 변형시켜 디자인을 완성시킨 후 디지털 프린팅을 통하여 제품을 제작한다. 본 연구자는 이러한 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 인간은 점점 각박하고 산업화 되어가고 있는 사회 현상 속에서 점점더 자연과 관련된 이미지들을 원하고 있고, 이러한 인간의 욕구는 자연을 모티브로한 다양한 디자인을 창출해 내고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구자가 제시한 자연의 유기적 형태를 응용한 인테리어 패브릭 디자인은 인간에게 자연의 이미지를 전달하는 매개체로서 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 자연의 유기적 형태의 개념과 구성원리, 형태적 특징을 연구함으로서 유기적 형태의 미적 가치를 재인식하고 디자인에 적용할 수 있는 요소들을 추출할 수 있었다. 셋째, 자연의 유기적 형태 중 본 연구자의 디자인에 응용된 앵무조개, 애물결나비 날개무늬, 물 해파리 촉수의 형태는 독창적 디자인을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 적절한 소재중의 하나였고 디자인 응용에 대한 가능성 또한 확인할 수 있었다. 넷째, 인테리어 패브릭 특징의 이해와 인테리어용으로 쓰이는 패브릭 제품의 분석은 효율적이고 실용적인 인테리어 패브릭 디자인을 할 수 있는 역할을 하였다. 다섯째, 디자인 표현 기법인 디지털 프린팅은 디테일한 표현과 2차원적 형태를 표현함에 있어 적절한 방법이었고, 본 작품 제작에 앞서 시행했던 디지털 프린팅 샘플과정은 디자인함에 있어 적합한 소재를 선택하고 디자인의 완성도를 높이는데 중요한 역할을 하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 결과를 통하여 21세기를 살아가는 현대인들에게 따뜻한 감성을 느끼게하고, 소비자들의 새로운 디자인에 대한 욕구를 충족시켜 줄 수 있는 인테리어 패브릭 디자인을 제시하고자 한다. ;Human beings have been enjoying considerable material civilization - which was inconceivable before - thanks to the development of modern industrial civilization. However, industrial civilization has caused an unbalanced ecosystem, due to the destruction of nature, and people are becoming weary of dry city life and stress. These consequences led to a search for ways in which humans and nature could cohabit and, moreover, triggered a concern for nature. Nature has always been attracting humans, and a foundation of human life, and especially its mystic beauty has motivated humans to express it. Nature's mystic beauty of various forms is also an important motif in design. None of these shapes of nature was formed accidentally, but by design. Forms which were made through natural phenomena or in the course of life, are called organic forms. Nature's organisms reveal their unique self-controllable orderly form and structure, and the appearance of each organism constitutes a variety of form. Furthermore, the forms reveal a formative feature of aesthetic beauty. The author of this study looks at the features of nature's organic form, which is a source of unlimited study of form in design, and review its aesthetic value, and thus suggest a fabric design for interior display, providing rest and convenience to humans. The content of the study for the production of artwork is as follows: First, by studying the structural principle of nature's organic form and visual features the author selects a motif applicable to design, analyze some examples of the application of organic form which were expressed in general art, and try to express the forms which are differentiated from others. Second, the author understands the basic concept of textiles and analyze the concept, type and features of interior fabric products for efficient and practical interior fabric design. Third, a motif that was made based on these processes is restructured and transformed into a design through computer graphics work, and is then produced through digital printing. The findings are as follows: First, the more harsh and industrious the social situation becomes, the more of nature's image humans want. And thus humans' thirst for nature motivates the production of various designs of nature motifs. According to this aspect, the author was convinced that an interior fabric design which has employed nature's organic form can play an important role as a medium in transmitting nature's image to humans.. Second, the author was able to recognize the aesthetic value of organic form and to select some elements which can be applied to design by studying the concept of nature's organic form and its structural principle and formative features. Third, among nature's organic forms, forms of parrot-clam, wavy-design butterfly, wing pattern and a sea jelly antenna which were used in my work were adequate subjects which can induce creative designs, and these gave the possibility of design application as well. Fourth, an understanding of the basic concepts of textiles and analysis of fabric products for interiors enabled the creation of efficient and practical interior fabric designs. Fifth, digital printing which is a technique for design expression was an adequate method in my work for detailed and two-dimensional forms of expression, and a sampling process using digital printing in preliminary work helped me to select suitable subjects and played a major role in helping completion of the work. The author hopes that the study on form will encourage acknowledgment of the potential aesthetic value of nature's organic forms and, moreover, establish a fresh design world view in the field of design, which faces a lack of creativity due to design uniformity in the global trend.
