위반행위를 통해 본 남대문 재래시장의 자생력에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 도시가 자생력을 획득할 수 있는 방안을 남대문재래시장에서 찾아보고자 하였다. 남대문시장의 공간은 생명체와 같이 끊임없이 변하고 살아 움직인다. 남대문시장의 고밀도의 환경이 도시공간의 고밀도와 달리 생명력이 있는 이유는, 시장공간의 다양한 객체들이 서로 관계를 맺으며 계속 변화하는 이벤트를 만들어 낸다는 데 있다. 이벤트를 일으키는 시장의 구성요소들은 시장 내에서 위반행위에 해당하는 무질서의 상황을 만들어 낸다. 그러나 시장 내에서 이 위반행위는 법에 의해 통제되지 않고, 그대로 허용되며, 그 자체가 시장의 공간을 형성하고 있다. 위반행위는 무질서와 혼란을 조장하기 때문에, 도시공간에서는 엄격하게 규제된다. 더군다나 위반행위가 시장 내에서 허용된다면, 시장공간은 이익을 추구하는 시장구성원들의 분쟁으로 더욱 혼란한 상황에 부딪게 될 것이다. 그러나 시장은 동적인 평형상태를 유지하고 있다. 재래시장의 위반행위는 도시공간의 것과 분명 다른 차이가 있는 것이다. 재래시장에서 위반행위는 상인들의 연합체, 시장의 내(內)집단이 형성한 헤게모니이다. 법질서가 재래시장을 규제하기 전부터 관행적으로 시장을 운영해오던 문화이자, 자신들의 이윤추구를 위해 고착화시킨 헤게모니인 것이다. 시장은 오랜 기간동안, 위반행위적인 수단을 통해 공간을 구성해 왔다. 위반행위를 통해 공간을 구축하는 것은 자신의 점포를 좀더 넓히려는 자발적인 노력과 맞물려 시장공간을 창출하는 원동력이 되었다. 위반행위는 자신의 이윤추구를 위해, 적극적이고 자발적으로 일어난다. 그러나 완전한 무질서상황에 빠지지 않는 것은 시장 속 위반행위의 독특한 체계 때문이다. 시장 내에서는 위반행위과 이의 수단인 전술을 통해 이익집단간에 평형상태를 도모함으로써 유동적인 체계를 창발 시킨다. 법질서는 이상적인 법체계를 강제적으로 적용하여, 사회정의를 실현하고자 하지만, 사회는 여전히 무질서의 문제를 안고 있다. 그러나 시장 내에서 위반행위와 이의 수단인 전술체계(tactic)는 완벽한 무질서의 상태도 아니고 정리된 상태도 아닌, 유동적이고 조화롭게 움직이는 환경을 만들어 내고 있었다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 '위반행위'가 남대문재래시장에 자생력을 불러일으키는 원동력이 된다고 가정하고, 위반행위로 인해 자생력을 획득하는 시장 환경에 대해 연구하고자 한다. ;The purpose of this study is finding the spatial character for spontaneous space design through the violation of Nam-dae-mun market. I find the possible answer through the Nam-dae-mun Market, one of the old markets, where many kinds of actions happen. There are many causes of these various actions. I find the change of day and night is one of them but also find most their actions begin with breaking their territorial rules. I think the illegal start is the very reason of their spontaneous. The violation is defined as the hegemony of the Nam-dae-mun market. It presents the possession of space in excess of one's property and makes the Nam-dae-mun market energetic. In Nam-dae-mun market, the violation is sanctioned by usage. Through the violation, Nam-dae-mun market naturally acquires spontaneous energy and pliability. Though the violation makes chaos in the city, The Nam-dae-mun market is not thrown into chaos. The violation of the Nam-dae-mun market is different from the violation of the city. So I want to have knowledge of the Nam-dae-mun market's violation. In this thesis, I study how the actions of the violations which occur at the sudden change of day and night give birth to the autogenesis of Nam-dae-mun Market, as well as seek to find the way to recover the spontaneous of the cities. I study on the spontaneous energy of the Nam-dae-mun market through its violation. According to three steps, this research is proceeded. 1. To investigate the possibility of the violation and the meaning of the it. 2. To research the present condition of Nam-dae-mun market and the process of spatial formation. 3. To compare 'F' building in Nam-dae-mun with Sam-ik fashion building which was redeveloped.
