바람-한복의 이미지

Abstract

바람을 하나로 떼어놓고 보면 특정한 형태가 없다. 그러나 바람이 어떤 대상과 만나 그 대상에 생명력을 불어넣어 보면 그 형태는 매우 다양하게 표출된다. 정적으로 정체되어 있는 대상은 바람에 의해 생명을 얻고 그 형태는 셀 수도 없이 다양한 모습으로 변한다. 본인 작품 속에도 바람은 생명력을 가져다준다. 또한 바람은 어떤 대상과 만나느냐에 따라 다르게 나타난다. 즉, 바람은 그 대상의 본질이 무엇인지에 따라 본질을 극명하게 드러내는 역할을 한다. 본 논문은 한복이 바람을 통해 한복이 가지고 있는 본질적인 요소들을 본인이 어떻게 형상화 시키고 표출하였는지 살펴보고자 한다. 본 논문의 이론적 연구에서는 먼저 작품의 바탕이 되는 바람을 기운론(氣韻論)의 이론적 연구를 통해 기운론(氣韻論)에서 말하는 생명현상이 본인의 작품속의 바람과 연관지어 생각할 수 있는가를 살펴보았다. 한복은 지어 입기 이전의 천자락 하나하나에도 한국인의 미에 대한 일면뿐만 아니라 민족 정서의 단면들이 담겨져 있다. 이러한 한국인의 정서를 시각화해서 표현한 예술의 한 형태로 춤사위를 든다면, 춤사위의 정서표현에 대한 연구는 한복에 담긴 한국인의 정서에 대한 일면을 보여주는 것이다. 따라서 본인은 한복의 이미지를 전통 춤사위에 깃든 한과 신명의 정서를 이론적 배경으로 삼고 또한 이론적 연구로 한국회화에서 나타나는 한복의 의미를 자연성, 순수성, 율동성으로 나누어서 살펴보았다. 방법적인 연구에서는 색을 여러 번에 나누어 거듭 칠하여 깊은 색채감을 나타내는 중채법(重彩法)을 먹과 검은 분채만을 가지고 활용해 보았다. 여러 번에 걸쳐 옅게 칠해 올린 탓에 옅음 속에서도 두텁고 얕음 속에서도 깊은 느낌을 표현해 낼 수 있었다. 그리고 설명적이고 묘사적인 형상이 보이기보다도 형태를 통해서 정.중.동 (靜.中.動)의 운율감을 표현하고자 했다. 마지막으로 바람의 이미지를 동양의 자연주의사상에서 무위(無爲)에 상응하는 개념인 여백과 연관지어 생각해 보았다. 본 논문을 통해 그 동안의 작업들을 종합적으로 분석해 보고, 이론적 연구와 방법적 연구를 통한 폭넓은 이해로 앞으로의 작업에서 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하고자 하였다.

;If the wind should be isolated, it would have no certain form. However, if the wind meets an object to breathe a power of life into it, the wind would be formed diversely. The object stagnated or static would get a life from the wind, and the resultant forms would be innumerably diverse. The wind in researcher's works brings about a power of life. Moreover, the wind looks different depending on the objects which it meets. Namely, the wind plays a role in revealing the essence of an object clearly depending on its attributes. The purpose of this study is to review how Hanbok shapes and expresses its essential elements by using the wind. For this purpose, the theory of Artistic Elegance was reviewed in order to associate researcher's wind with its life phenomenon. Even before being designed, any fabric fragment of Hanbok contains some Korean aesthetics and Korean people's emotional fragments as well. If the dance styles visualize Korean people's emotion to express it artistically, then, research into the emotional expressions of the dance styles would lead to identification of Korean people's emotion inherent in Hanbok. Accordingly, the researcher reviewed the images of Hanbok in the lights of Korean people's emotion or grief (Han) and exhilaration (Shinmyong) potential in the traditional dance styles, and thereupon, analyzed the implications of Hanbok shown in the Korean paintings in terms of naturalness, rhythm and humor. As a methodology, colors were repeatedly brushed to express a deep sense of color. Namely, ink and black color were used only for a doubled effect. Since the colors were thinly but repeatedly applied, the result was thin but thick or vice versa to look delicate enough to express the pure energy of white. In addition, instead of explanatory and descriptive forms, a sense of rhythm for 'dynamic amid static' was created by means of forms. Lastly, a sense of margin was added to the image of wind symbolizing a flapping fabric. This study attempted to review how Hanbok would reveal and express its essence through wind. By relying on theories and conventional methodologies, this study tried to explore the future directions for Hanbok designs based on a wide understanding of Korean people's emotion represented by grief and exhilaration
