Abstract
;Before and after the 19th century, art has perceived the phenomenal aspects of life and explored its own essence in various aspects. As shown in the concept of avant-garde typically mentioned starting from this period, it can be seen as the evolution of relation geared into the flow of external world such as modern changes in political and social histories, scientific advances and so on Art which has radically and broadly penetrated into life until recently has had organic character not as an absolute area but as a possibility for infinite relations, and is located in the peak of the creative process changed and absorbed together with the perceptions of reality. With it an artist is recognized as a floating subject viewing the whole and belonging to nowhere in the boundary between structural world and private area at another dimension checking it. Viewing life through a work, it begins with questioning the boundary between presence and absence. When things familiar to us approach as strange ones and vice versa, the recognition of a generalized standard of value and presence is instantly overthrown. The world perceived in the ambiguous boundary makes us weigh that the world behind presence is not nothingness as we feel keenly the value of presence in absence and that the world connotes innumerable relations of absence behind it if it consists of the conflicts between friendly existences meeting or opposing each other. In general, it is changeably constructed through the lives of subjects as the area with infinite organic relations. Just as the world of presence can be explained in such a way that presence is one dot with the difference from margin surrounding it, the reason for presence that cannot be explained by itself only is a fundamental question which can be applied to any area we can be aware of. I have question the obscure belief in reality when I look at things through a window every day. A window is simply a structural transparent film in architecture located between its inside and its outside, and sometimes a frame for a painting or a photo. It is a boundary at which I provide ambiguity for the phenomena of the world in perceiving it. The moment of oblivion in which I am absorbed looking at numerous passing scenes through a window of the car driven becomes the motive for the private experience of turning my eyes to latent inner world and being aware of the absence of reality in a phenomenon. What is real is only existence by itself beyond a phenomenon and the world I am recognizing is an individual one where I am transferred from memory and external relations to private area. It results from the question about the world of existence prior to a universal idea or a logic and rational structure when external world and private area are viewed as the whole. The point at which such reason is oriented can be explained based on recognizing the area of existence that cannot be penetrated, difference, in the cyclical process of the incessant relation between what are defined as inside and outside, which will be discussed in Chapter II 'Regression to the Individual'. As shown in what Henri Bergson (1859-1941) aimed at, to which this thesis will refer mainly, such 'difference' is not a quantified concept of the difference in degree but a creatively changing process in consciousness that cannot be homogenized related to a temporal dimension with the nature of life consolidated in pure continuation. Like a set of faces in a polygon, a work is through reproductive elements for an icon and forms of expression for various media, and is in the continuous process of forming the whole through the relations between its adjacent parts. In general, this paper tries to present the attitude and inner grounds with which I approach the work through investigating the individual and relation in a strange world sunk behind the world seen by us, that is, in the boundary between presence and absence.
