관찰을 통해 본 곰팡이의 생명이미지 표현연구

Abstract

모든 생명체는 끊임없이 변화한다. 그들은 한 순간도 쉬지 않고 생성과 소멸을 거듭하는 거대한 유기체라 할 수 있다. 인간은 생명에서 연유되는 질서의 본질을 파악하고, 조형에 대한 충동이 있어 이것을 예술 작품으로 표현해 왔으며 아름다움을 표현하는 방법으로 독창적인 조형세계를 이루어 왔다. 예술가는 자신이 경험한 외부적인 것과 잠재적으로 가지고 있는 것을 예술작품을 통하여 표현하게 된다. 또한 예술가의 창작활동은 예술가 자신의 직접, 간접적 경험에 의해 주관적 조형원리로 표현하는 것이다. 그런 의미에서 예술은 예술가에 의하여 표현대상이 새롭게 창조되는 것이라 할 수 있다. 다양한 형태와 풍부한 질감, 색채의 조형적 요소와 변화의 질서와 운동, 생명의 생동감을 내포하고 있는 생명체에 대한 미적 의식은 개인의 주관적인 해석에 따라 다양한 양식을 통하여 표현되어왔다. 이중 곰팡이는 무한한 신비감과 생명체의 생성변화의 원리를 인식할 수 있는 새로운 소재로 예술표현의 대상으로써 가능성을 내포하고 있다. 이러한 내재된 생명력과 미의식을 감각화시켜 예술로써의 표출수단을 꾀하자 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 새로운 소재의 대상인 곰팡이를 관찰함과 동시에 그 속에 내재된 생명력까지도 표현함에 있으며, 곰팡이를 새로운 이미지로 조형 표현함에 있다. 본 연구자는 예술의 소재 중에서 무한한 변화를 가지고 있는 곰팡이를 소재로 하여 연구자가 관찰한 실험과 관찰과정에서 느낀 생명력의 내적 심상의 경험으로 곰팡이의 대상에 신선한 이미지의 생명력을 부여하고 공간적으로 재구성하였다. 곰팡이는 미적 표현의 표현대상으로써 무한한 가능성을 갖고 있으며, 연구자는 곰팡이 대상을 단순하게 재현하는 것이 아니라 본 연구자의 조형원리와 결합하여 본 연구자의 섬유예술의 조형적인 면에서 형상화할 수 있다. 형태, 질감, 색채의 시각적 요소로 단순화한 표현과정에서 조형성을 추구하며, 실제 사진의 변이로 인한 사물의 특징, 변화하는 생명력 등은 본 연구자의 작품을 하는데 중요한 조형표현에 절충되는 요소로 보고자 하였다. 또한 곰팡이의 형태가 지니는 구조의 미를 유출하고 그 결과로 보여지는 조형요소들을 공간 구성방법에 따라 또 다른 이미지의 재생을 꾀하고자 하였다. 또한 곰팡이를 통하여 본 대상의 재현적 조형과, 변형과 재구성을 통한 공간적 조형을 조화시켜 섬유예술로서의 이미지 표현을 모색하는데 연구목적을 두었다. 이론적 배경에서는 곰팡이의 개념과 더불어 곰팡이의 생성과정을 관찰하여 내재된 생명력을 인식하여보았다. 또한 이미지의 개념과 곰팡이의 이미지를 조형관점에서 살펴보고, 예술가들에게 있어서 이러한 생명이미지의 조형표현이 어떠한 모습으로 표현되었는지 알아보았다. 작품제작에 있어서는 곰팡이의 관찰을 중심으로 타피스트리로 표현하였다. 곰팡이의 이미지는 곰팡이 성장과정 속에서 체험한 무한한 에너지를 지닌 생명력을 바탕으로 작품 5점으로 제작하여 분석해 봄으로써 곰팡이를 통해서 본 생명이미지로 연구자의 조형예술로의 가능성과 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.;Every living things change constantly. Those could be called gigantic organisms, which never stop generating or extinguishing. Human beings have been trying to find essences of systems that have been derived from living things. With fascinations toward formative nature in those living creatures, humans also has been trying to express them through art pieces, and with those different ways of expressing beauties of nature, they have accomplished a distinctive formative field in the art history. Artists express external sentiments that they gained, through experiences and internal sentiments that lie latently in themselves through their art pieces. In addition to that, means of artists' works are expressing them formatively and subjectively, along with artists' direct and indirect experiences. By such sense, it could be stated that arts are new creations of expressing objects by artists. Various forms and abundant textures, formative natures of colors and systems of changes and movements, and animated natures of living things are expressed through numerous forms by one's subjective interpretation. Among those creatures, molds contain unlimited mysteries and living things' principles of forming changes, and for a subject of an artistic expression, those contain great possibilities of being a brand new material. With expressing latent power of life and awareness of beauty, and by making them sensuously expressed, it made possible to find out ways of representing into art pieces. The main purpose of this study is not only observing a new material, molds, but also expressing intrinsic significance of life in them, furthermore, expressing molds with formative expressions as a new image. By selecting molds, which contain boundless changes, among artistic materials as an artistic object, I, as an observer for this study, reconstructed molds spatially and gave them a life, through experimenter's inner common experiences of life after the observation and during the observing process. Molds have unlimited possibilities for being artistic object of aesthetic expressions, and I, the researcher, not only represented molds just simply or straightly, but also combined with the researcher's formative principles and expressed in various formative ways of the fiber art. By pursuing formative natures of molds, from the process of expressions of visual elements of their shapes, textures and colors, characteristics which related to mutations of object's actual pictures and transmutation of life forces gave great inspirations for expressing them with formative expressions. Furthermore, by extracting formative beauties of molds' texture, it made possible for making formative elements of them to revive related but somewhat different images, along with methods of spatial formative expressions. Moreover, the main object of this study is to combine and harmonize molds' spatial formations with the fiber art through their reviving textures, transformations and reformations. For the theoretical background of this study, it contains researches on concepts and classifications of molds through careful observations, along with latent life forces of them. In addition to that, the study also includes concepts of images and examinations in views of formative nature, and also includes studies on how formative expressions of different living things are expressed by other artists. In productions of art works, art pieces are expressed with tapestry. By creating Molds' images into five different art pieces and by analyzing them, through molds' enormous energy, this observer tried to find out possibilities and set the direction for organic images reforming them into fiber arts, along with various observations of molds' growing processes.
