Abstract

God created man and woman in the image of God. Regarding gender, an absolute truth of God is "equality". However, culture that human created make a prejudice against woman. In Bible, woman had played a big role as a leader. Moreover, during a public life of Jesus, many women respected him and took part in ministry as his disciple. Nevertheless, participation of women in ministry have been restricted for a long time in Christian history and even today, the circumstance like this still remains. As the advent of the Reformation and Illuminism, the position of women and ministry of women had been changed. In the 19th century, women could have a chance to be educated and participate ministry as a missionary. It results in enlarging ministry not in the church institutionalized by a tradition and a doctrine but in the missionary place. The woman missionary have been responsible for various works such as supporting service, establishing missionary association, exploiting church, proclaiming the words in Bible, discipling woman in mission field, providing orphanage and children with service, education ministry, medical ministry, translation in Bible. In addition, today, women missionaries from all of the world take an active part in mission. Today, the role of woman had an important effect upon making the quarter of Korean population christian and making Korea second country in the world that sends a missionary. However, because of Confucian culture and the misunderstanding of Bible, we are insufficient of understanding the woman missionary and the importance of women missionary. It is understood that single women missionaries have difficulties such as solitude, confliction with man's leadership and lack of understanding by the natives, although married women missionaries have difficulties such as lack of understanding about calling, difficulties of bring up children and confliction with their husbands. Therefore, Korean church should make effort to solve the difficulties of women missionary. Islam is one of the most developing religion. But, it is not easy to evangelize Muslim because of a firm doctrine and historical scar toward Christianity. Koran, the scriptures of Islam include the discrimination on women and it leads that women in the Islamic world is being treated discriminatingly and is being suppressed. However, their voice that advocate with the equality between man and woman is getting to rise higher and higher through studying the beginig lesson of Islam. To evangelize the Muslim women, we need to approach the understanding of woman's position in the Islamic world in the change of Islam society. Turkey, the descendants of Osman Turkey Empire, is a country that have a feud politically and socially that results in conflicting between Islam fundamentalism and secularism pursuing the western culture. Even though many missionaries are conducting mission in Turkey, it still remains as a difficult region to reach Christianity. To explore Korean missionaries in Turkey, I made a survey who Korean missionaries are, what is the motivation to do mission in Turkey, what kind of mission they are conducting and what is difficulties in conducting mission. As a result of research, the missionaries are mostly occupied by a christian in 30-40s with bachelor degree. They trained in the domestic mission agency. And they emphasized the need on the knowledge of Bible and cultivation of personality. Most of them had a visa as business man and spent time mostly to church building. Lastly, the most difficult thing to them is to obtain the satisfied result, namely new comer. To evangelize Muslims in Turkey, they emphasized the importance of role of woman. Married women missionaries think that delivery and bringing up children are most difficulty things to them, although health is most difficulty things to single women missionaries. The most important desire of women missionaries to men missionaries and Korean church is to enhance the understanding of woman missionary in Korea. Based on results of the research, I suggest these things to support the woman missionary ; 1) Education and public relations for enhancement of understanding on woman missionary 2) Relevant discipline for woman missionary 3) Pointing out a responsible person for woman missionary in the mission agency 4) Establishing the association related woman missionary 5) Providing for missionaries's old age ;하나님은 자신의 형상을 따라 남자와 여자를 창조하셨다. 성별에 관한 하나님의 절대 진리는 동등함이다. 그러나, 인간이 창조한 문화는 여성에 대해 편견을 갖고 차별한다. 성서에는 지도적 역할을 감당한 많은 여성들이 등장하며, 예수 그리스도의 공생애 동안 많은 여성들이 그를 섬기고, 그의 제자로 사역에 참여하였다. 그런데도 불구하고 기독교 역사에서 너무나 오랜 시간동안 여성의 활발한 사역 참여가 제한되어 왔고, 오늘날도 그 영향 가운데 있다. 종교개혁과 계몽주의의 도래로 교회와 사회에 변동이 일어나며 여성의 지위와 사역에도 변화가 일어나게 되었다. 19세기에는 여성의 교육의 장이 열리고, 많은 여성들이 선교사로 사역을 하게 되었다. 이는 전통과 교리로 제도화된 교회보다는 여성들에게 보다 많은 사역의 기회가 제공되는 선교지로 여성 사역이 확대된 결과이다. 여성 선교사들은 선교동원 및 후원, 선교협회 설립, 도시 선교, 탐험과 개척, 교회 개척과 말씀 선포, 선교지 여성 훈련, 고아와 어린이 사역, 교육 사역, 의료사역, 성서번역 등 다양한 사역을 감당하였고, 오늘날은 서구권 선교사들만이 아닌 세계 여러 지역의 여성 선교사들이 각지에서 활발히 사역을 전개하고 있다. 오늘날 한국이 인구의 1/4이 기독교인인 나라가 되고, 세계 2위의 선교사 파송국가가 된데에는 여성들의 역할이 지대하였다. 그러나, 한국은 오랜 유교 문화의 전통과 잘못된 성서 이해 때문에 여성 사역자에 대한 이해가 부족하며, 그 중요성에 대한 인식이 매우 미흡하다. 현재 사역중인 한국 여성 선교사들은 독신의 경우 외로움, 남성 사역자와의 리더쉽 문제, 현지인의 몰이해 등이 어려움이고, 기혼 여성 선교사의 경우 소명의식의 부족, 자녀양육과 가사의 부담, 남편과의 갈등 등이 어려움이라고 알려져 있다. 한국 교회는 여성 선교사에 대한 올바른 이해를 확산시키고, 현재 선교지에서 사역중인 여성 선교사들이 겪고 있는 어려움들을 해소하는데 적극적인 노력을 기울여야 한다. 이슬람교는 오늘날 가장 빠른 속도로 성장하고 있는 종교이다. 이슬람교의 확고한 교리 및 기독교에 대한 역사적 상처로 이슬람권에서의 기독교 선교는 예나 지금이나 쉽지 않은 일이다. 이슬람교의 경전인 코란에는 남성 우월적인 내용이 포함되어 있어 이슬람권의 여성들은 많은 차별과 억압 아래 놓여 있다. 그러나, 이러한 성 차별에 대해 이슬람의 초기 가르침을 연구하며 여성들의 권리를 주장하는 목소리들이 이슬람권내에서 높아져가고 있다. 이슬람권의 여성 선교를 위해서는 이슬람 사회의 변화 속에 이들에 대한 이해를 높이고 그들에게 나아가야 한다. 터키는 과거 오스만 터키 제국의 후예로 이슬람 근본주의와 서구적인 것을 지향하는 세속주의간 정치적, 사회적 갈등이 나타나고 있는 국가이다. 많은 선교사들이 사역을 하고 있지만 아직 기독교인의 수가 매우 적은 미전도종족 지역이다. 터키에서의 여성의 지위는 자유롭고 독립적인 대도시권과 남성에 의한 통제가 심한 소도시·농촌권으로 양분되어 있다. 터키에서 사역하는 한국 선교사들을 대상으로 그들이 누구이며, 어떻게 선교지에 나가게 되었으며(소명, 훈련 등), 어떤 사역을 하고 있으며, 어떤 어려움 들을 겪고 있는지 등을 설문조사를 통해 파악한 결과 주로 30-40대의 대졸 이상이었으며, 목회자보다는 평신도가 많다. 국내 선교단체에서 훈련을 받았고, 선교학이나 공동체 훈련을 받았으며 터키로 나오기 전에 성경지식이나 인격도야가 필요하다고 응답하고 있다. 현지에서의 신분은 비즈니스인이 가장 많았고, 교회 개척사역을 많이 하고 있다. 선교사역에 있어 가장 어려운 점은 열매가 적은 것이며, 터키 복음화를 위해 여성 선교사가 매우 중요하다고 생각하고 있다. 기혼 여성 선교사들은 출산 및 자녀양육이 가장 어려움이라고 하며, 독신 선교사들은 건강문제가 가장 어려움이다. 여성 선교사들이 남성 선교사 및 한국 교회에 바라는 사항은 여성 선교사 역할의 중요성에 대해 이해를 높이는 것이다. 이런 설문조사 결과를 토대로 여성 선교사들이 사역을 잘 할 수 있도록 지원하기 위하여 첫째, 여성 선교사에 대한 이해를 높이기 위한 교육 및 홍보 실시 둘째, 여성에 적합한 선교 훈련 실시 세째, 교단이나 선교단체에 여성 선교사 전담 사역자 지정 네째, 여성 선교사 관련 기관 설립 다섯째, 노후대책 마련 등을 방안으로 제시한다.
