노인의 성의식과 성매매 특성에 대한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 노인의 성에 대한 사회적인 관심이 부족한 현실을 감안하여, 기존에 양적인 방법에서 노인의 성을 바라보았던 것과는 다르게 질적인 방법을 통한 접근을 시도하였다. 노인들의 입장으로 노인의 성을 바라보는 것에 초점을맞추고, 노인의 이야기를 통해서 그들의 성의식과 구체적인 예로 노인의 성매매 특징을 분석해 본 것이다. 언론과 대중 매체에서는 노인의 성매매에 대한 조사가 부족하여 흥미 위주의사건으로 다루어 노인의 성매매에 대해 오해를 일으킬 소지가 있다. 이것은 노인의 성에 대해 어두운 부분을 부각시켜 부정적인 이미지를 만들고, 노인에 대한 사회적 인식을 잘못된 방향으로 이끌 수도 있는 것이다. 이에 앞으로 노인의 성매매 현실에 대한 바른 이해와 노인의 입장에서 이해하려는 자세가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 기존의 노인에 대한 연구가 통계적 수치에만 주로 관심을 두고 노인의 입장을 고려하지 않았던 것에서 더 나아가 노인들의 성에 대해서 현실적이고 사실적인 접근으로 노인에 대한 우리의 시각을 넓히는 것을 목표로 삼고 있다. 이와 같은 연구 문제 및 방법 등을 통해서 이루어진 본 연구는, 성에 대한 노인들의 태도는 어떠한 특징이 있으며, 노인의 성매매의 특성은 어떠한지에 대해서 2가지로 나누어서 살펴보았는데, 그 결과 분석은 다음과 같다. 먼저 노인들은 성에 대해서 어떠한 태도로 임하고 있는지를 살펴 보았다. 노인들은 성을 누구나 인간이라면 가지고 있는 본성으로 여기고 있으며, 성행위는 자연스럽고 당연한 것으로 받아들이고 있었다. 그러나, 노인들은 성행위를 자신의 건강과 생활환경에서 성행위가 가능한지 아닌지에 따라 가치판단을 하고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이것은 나이와 상관없이 이성과의 자유로운 만남을 즐기고, 그 안에서 자유 분망한 성행위를 하면서 일탈적인 행위로 사회적 규범에서 벗어날 수도 있다는 점에서 주목할 만한 문제라고 하겠다. 또한, 노인들은 남성 노인의 자유로운 성행위를 여성보다는 남성에게 좀 더 허용적인 것으로 인식하는 전통적인 성관념에 따라서 이해하고 있는 것을 살펴 볼 수 있었다. 다음으로 노인의 성매매의 현실적인 모습은 어떠한지에 대해서 노인들의 이야기를 통해서 살펴보았다. 노인의 성매매는 젊은층 중심의 일반적인 성매매 시장과 비슷한 형태를 가지고 있으면서, 동시에 노인이라는 이유에서 이를 쉽게 공개하기 힘든 현실이기 때문에, 보다 더 음성적 성향을 띄는 복잡한 성격을 띄고 있다. 청량리나 용산, 미아리 등의 공개적인 사창가와 같은 전형적인 성매매 시장의 형태는 아니지만, 노인들이 많이 모이는 몇 개의 공원이 노인들을 위한 전용 성매매 시장으로 암암리에 알려져 있어서 노인의 성매매 거래가자연스럽게 성행하고 있었다. 또한, 노인들은 매춘을 목적으로 하는 여성들이 쉽게 다가오고 있어서, 성매매와의 접근 가능성이 높은 것을 살펴 볼 수 있다. 이러한 접근이 쉬운 시장 형태와 더불어 노인을 대상으로 하는 사회적 단속과 제재가 잘 이루어지지 않아서 노인의 성매매는 빈번하게 일어나고 있다. 본 연구를 통해서, 노인들이 노인이라는 전통적 이미지와는 다르게 변화하는 사회적 맥락에 따라서 성을 이해하고 표현하고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나, 이러한 노인의 성태도는 시대에 따라 달라지는 가변성을 가지고 있어서 일반화 시키는 데에 어려움이 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 본 연구는 노인의 성에 대해서 사회가 중심이 되어 해석되었던 방식에서 벗어나, 노인들의 입장을 통해서 노인들은 성에 대해서 어떠한 태도를 취하고 있으며 그들의 성현실은 어떠한지에 대해서 살펴 보았다. 노인의 성에 대한 연구에 있어 새로운 시각을 제공한다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있겠다.;The purpose of this thesis is to verify the Current Status of Senior's Sex by focusing it in terms of seniors, analyzing senior prostitution structures in our society by interviewing them and finally determine their concerns about the sex. Normally, media and their discussions are concerning about Senior's Sex only for their own interest and our analysts are facing lack of detailed (and True) information on them. As a result, Senior's Sex in today's industry are being recognized more negative and thus it could be possible that our Seniors is heading to somewhere that they shouldn't be. Therefore it is necessary that we needs to face the reality of Senior's Sex, try to understand them and establish the infrastructure that truly needed for them. This thesis contains two major methods of approaching Senior's Sex. The methods and their corresponding results could be summarized as below; Firstly, their concerns regarding Sex were researched and analyzed by interviewing seniors. To summarize the result, all of their opinions comes that they concerns the Sex is one of the most natural behavior and instinct regardless of ages. In fact, the only fact that restricts their sexual desire is their self-concerning about health. This means they could enjoy their sexual behavior by meeting with opposite sex regardless of ages and period which could include the possibility that sexual behavior that exceeds social boundary (i.e. sexual crime) as a side effect. Interestingly, most of them concerns that Sex is more of male issue, which means more restriction applies to females as per Korean's traditional customs. Secondly, the reality of prostitution for Senior was research and analyzed by interviewing seniors. The infrastructures of prostitution for seniors seem to be very much similar to what people normally think of as for 'prostitutions'. However, because of its uncommon characteristics of customers, it seems to be staying in 'underground', which is making more negative, distributed and unprotected. The prostitution for Seniors can be positioned in various locations as long as Seniors existed (when comparing with known places 'prostitutions for normal customers' such as Cheug-Yang-Ri, Yong-San, Mi-A-Ri, etc). Prostitution for Seniors could be happened without any difficulties because of current status of our society. Any places with Seniors organized could be the place for Prostitutions, women with financial problems are approaching them for prostitution (making money), unconcern of our society, etc are all catalyzing this increasing rate of Senior's Prostitution. Summarizing the thesis, it had been verified that seniors are changing their thought concerning sex as per society changes. It happens regardless social prejudices that seniors do not concern about sex any more. However even though their concerns are being changed, it seems to be not easy to implement it in our society because of too much restriction that we are facing. However it should be believed that this thesis has took the first step of modifying such prejudices by directly facing senior's sex, what modifications needs to take place and how it needs to be developed in near future for understanding them.
