dc.description.abstractThe rate constants of the nucleophilic hydrolysis of furfuralacetone(FA) were determined at various pH and the rate equations that can be applied to the range of pH 〈7 and to that of pH> 7 were obtained. From this rate equation, the mechanisms of the reaction are different in acidic and basic media. The rate constants of the hydrolysis are found to reach their maximum at the vicinity of pH 7 and from this maximum value, the rate constants declined symmetrically on both acidic and basic side. Lastly the rate constants remain respectively finned at a value at points belay pH 7 and above pH 9.-
