조형적 원리에 의한 Web Site 디자인의 시각적 표현연구

Abstract

단순한 정보 교환에서 출발한 인터넷의 비약적인 발전은 엄청난 양의 정보가 미디어치 급속한 발전으로 전세계가 하나의 네트워크로 연결되어 21세기는 첨단 네트워크 사회로 급격히 이행하고 있다. 인터넷 상의 웹사이트는 전 세계를 연결하는 글로벌 네트 워크로서 모든 사람들에게 정보제공의 기회를 부여하고 있으며, 인터넷이 제공하는 정보의 시각성은 인쇄매체 못지않은 디자인 활용 가능성을 제시하고 있다. 더구나 웹 사이트는 정보 전달 효과를 높이기 위한 시각적 표현의 접근 방향과 가능성은 디자이너에게 중요한 의미를 준다. 웹 사용자들은 단순히 정보를 보는 것이 아니다. 웹을 비롯한 멀티미디어 환경이 가져온 가장 큰 변화는 범세계적 통신망을 통한 정보의 공유만이 아니라 쌍방향교류를 통한 감정의 전달이다. 컴퓨터가 사용자의 지시에 따라 반응한다는 사실의 이면에는 사용자들의 경험을 바탕으로 감정을 전달해야 하는 웹 디자이너의 역할이 숨어있다. 하드웨어와 소프트웨어, 네트워크 등 사용자의 환경이 발전하고 개선됨에 따라 풍부한 감성을 구현 할 수 있는 다양한 디자인이 가능해 졌기 때문이다. 디자인의 스타일 면에서도 지금은 과거와는 달리 전형적인 모더니즘적 조형에서부터 복고풍, 히피나 팝 아트적 조형, 고전주의 장식의 조형, 또는 사이키델릭 한 추상적 조형의 디자인, 미래 우주 첨단지향적 조형에 이르기 까지 수 많은 다양한 양식들이 우리 주위에 공존하고 있다. 문자를 주요 정보형태로 하는 다른 인터넷 프로그램과 달리 멀티미디어 정보를 전달하는 WWW의 경우, 시각적 요소의 효과적인 활용은 그 사이트의 질을 결정하는 중요한 요소가 된다. 웹 사이트의 시각적 표현을 창조하는데 중요한 것은 심미성 또는 형이나 형태의 시각적인 질, 그리고 그것들의 배열이다. 본 연구에서는 웹 사이트 디자인시 고려해야할 시각적 요소와 조형원리들, 그리고 구성시의 고려사항들을 이론적 고찰과 사례분석을 통해 살펴보고자 하였다. 효과적인 시각화를 위해서는 어떠한 디자인 요소들을 사용해야 하고, 또 그것을 표현의 언어로서 디자인 제작 과정에서 '주어진 공간 안에 각 디자인 요소들을 어떻게 배열해야 하는가'하는 것은 웹 디자인에서 시각적 정보의 효과적인 전달이라는 기본적인 필요에 요구되는 것이다. 결과적으로 웹 사이트 디자인에서 시각적인 논리를 만든다는 것은 심미적이면서도 사용자의 목적에 부합 될 수 있도록 기능적으로 표현 되어야 한다. 사용성과 심미적 디자인은 서로 대립되는 요소가 아닌 상호 보완적인 요소로 인식되어야 한다. 사용성과, 시각적 만족의 기능을 동시에 가지고 있는 방법적 문제에서 본 연구는 오래 전부터 미술의 주요한 조형수단이 되어 온 기하학적 형태에서 웹 디자인의 시자적인 외형을 만드는 표현의 도구로 조형요소 개념을 추출하고, 표현의 과정에서 웹사이트 구성시 시각적이고 기능적인 연속성과 사용자와의 원활한 케뮤니케이션을 위해 고려해야 할 디자인 지침을 제시 하고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 보다 체계적인 연구를 위하여 첫째, 이론적 배경에서 시각 디자인의 기본이 되는 조형의 요소와 개념, 일반적인 조형의 원리를 먼저 살펴보고, 이러한 개념과 원리를 조형의 지각 원리에 따라 형태나 모양새를 유기적으로 조직화하는 과정을 시각적인 메시지를 전달 방법의 원리로 연구 한다. 둘째, 조형적 시각표현의 연구를 위해 역사 속의 나타난 조형 표현의 발달 및 미술 사조의 영향, 시대와 사회적 배경을 이론적 고찰로 접근 하였다. 20세기 미술 사조 모던아트 속에 나타난 이념들 중 20세기 디자인을 한 단계 성숙 시킨데 스틸 운동의 역사적, 사상적 배경을 연구하고 데 스틸의 표현 수단인 수평 수직선, 검정과 흰색, 회색을 포함한 삼원색의 조형요소의 미학을 확인해 보았다. 디자인 표현을 위한 조형요소의 표현 언어를 데 스틸의 조형요소인 수직 수평선과 이들로 만들어 지는 정방형의 기하학적 형태를 모티므로 선택하였다. 또한 데 스틸 작가들의 명확성, 논리성, 단순성을 중심으로 보편성에 기반한 새로운 양식의 창조를 목표로 한 데 스틸 운동의 절대 양식인 '조화(Harmony)'와 통일(unity)을 시각적인 메시지 전달을 목표로하고 이러한 특성을 대변하는 '기하학적인 요소'의 규칙적인 수평 수직선은 정사각형을 만들고 이들 정사각형의 배열로 기계 미학(Machine aesthetic)을 표현 했다. 셋째, 시각적 질서 체계의 원리를 게슈탈트(Gestalt) 이론에 근거하여 웹 디자인의 시각적 영역 안에서 조형적 표현의 문제를 이론적으로 분석하고 형에 있어서 화면안에서 구성요소를 어떻게 배열하고 이를 위해서 인간이 형태를 지각하는 심리적 특성과 이를 사용한 디자인 조화의 문제 그리고 구체적 그래픽요소로의 발전에 이르는 과정을 하나씩 살펴보도록 한다.;As a global network connecting the whole world, websites on internet provide an opportunity of information supply with everyone the visuality of information in internet presents a possibility of design application not less than the printed matters. In addition, websites can give an important meaning to designers because of its' approaching direction and possibility of visual expression for improving the effect of information communication. The significant things for creating the visual expressions of websites are aesthetics, the visual quality of form or shape, and their arrangement. And then, the functional changes of system require a lot of new things about the graphic factors of interface. Widening of system through the network made us not prospect the users' needs in the interface, so the graphic factors became to have a function of information communication above texts not existing themselves. This thesis studies as follows: First, it is researched that the formative factors, conception, general principles of form which are the basis of visual design in theoretical background. Then, the organic formation process of forms ＆ shapes according to such conception and principles of perception using visual messages as communicating methods. Second, the development of formative expression, effect of artistic trends, and the social background and time were approached by theoretical contemplation for the study on formative visual expression. Among the basic factors of usual design, dot, line, an surface, line is a minimal graphic factor suitable to express the role of grid and functional quality. The straight line as a formative factor of De Stijil was expressed by the order of vertical ＆ horizontal lines and the beauty of ratio ＆ balance through the other media, websites. Consistency of structure and expression was kept on the basis of the visual factors, vertical ＆ horizontal lines, and the formative principle, then a unique style was set by simple and systematic image structure using vertical ＆ horizontal lines and pure colors. The formative factors for design expression were vertical ＆ horizontal lines in De Stijil, and the geometric shape, square by them was chosen as the motif. Under De Stijil movement which wanted to create new modes based on generality centering on accuracy, logicality, and simplicity visual communication of messages was an aim for the absolute modes of De Stijil, 'harmony' and 'unity'. the regular vertical ＆ horizontal lines as the geometric factors showing such characters structures squares, and the arranged squares expressed 'Machine Aesthetics'. Third, the structural principles of visual order was analyzed theoretically in the visual area of web design on the basis of Gestalt theory. And the structural elements of shapes were arranged, the human psychological characters of recognizing shapes and design harmony were researched. Then, the developing process of concrete graphic factors was showed, finally, the visual expression of web design was presented using the formative expression principle based on the above all.
