Geste에 의한 추상표현주의 도자 연구

Abstract

시대에 따라 예술은 변화한다. 이 변화에는 두 가지 유형이 있을 수 있다. 국지적 혹은 개별적 차원의 변화가 있을 수 있으며, 구조척 혹은 총체적 변화가 있을 수 있다. 여기서 후자는 「변혁」이라 불러야 할 것이다. 한국도자예술은 70년대부터 80년대에 이르기까지 변혁의 기간을 거쳐오고 있다. 이러한 변혁의 요인을 살펴보면, 내재된 것도 있겠지만, 분출하게 된 결정적 계기는 분명 서양의 예술사조변화에 의한 것이라고 볼 수 있다. 그래서 본 연구자는 그 시작점을 50년대 미국 추상표현주의 회화에 의해 촉발(觸發)된 추상표현주의 도자에서 찾게 되었다. 이를 통해 도자는 공예라는 수직적인 맥락에서 벗어난 예술로서 도자의 위치를 갖게 되였고, 흙과 인간과의 직접적이고도 원초적인 관계를 표현하고자 하는 노력이 시작되었음을 설명해 주었다. 이것은 현재에 이르기까지 현대 도자예술의 주된 내용을 창조적 행위과정에서 발생하는 우연적 효과를 적극 활용하는 방향으로 계속되게 한 것이다. 이에 본 연구자는 점토의 내재된 속성인 우연성을 드러내며, 본인의 내적세계를 표출하는 방법으로 Geste의 개념을 도입하였으며, 이를 배경으로 임의로 설정한 평면으로써 넓게 펼쳐진 사각형의 화면과 입체물이 된 육면체에 어떻게 적용되며, 변용되었는지를 보여 주었다. 제작방법으로는 반복성형의 이점을 이용할 수 있는 이장주입성형을 하였으며, 고온안료와 저온안료를 병용하여, 표현하고자 하는 색의 폭을 넓혔다. 이것은 점토자체의 내재된 속성을 드러내 그 가능성을 확인하며, 현대예술의 어휘로서 도자예술이 어떠한 의미를 갖고 있는지를 살펴보는 데 의의가 있다고 하겠다.;Generally speaking, fine arts are subject to change as time goes by. The change may be said to be classified into two types: The one is the change in a partial or individual level and the other is the one in a general level. Here the latter may be said a renovation. Korean ceramic art had undergone such a renovation between the 1970s and the 1980s. Looking into the elements of the renovation, there would be discovered some inherent elements. What was the critical moment to bring it out, however, is rather and clearly the changes in the Western thought on arts. Accordingly, this study assumes that its starting point would be found in the ceramic art of the abstract expressionism which began to be promoted by the abstract expressionism of the U.S. in the 1950's. On such an assumption the ceramic art can find out its position in the fine arts as a sort of arts, breaking from the conception of industirial arts, the vertical concept. It means that this art came to make an effort to express the direct and original relation between clay and men. This effort have enabled, up to now, the major contents of the ceramic art to be directed so that any casual effect which occurs during the creative actions can be utilized positively. Therefore, in this study an incidentalness inherent in clay is tried to be revealed, the Geste concept is introduced to express the author's internal world, and it is explained how these things are applied to and expressed in a square plain which is spread out as a randomly established square screen and solid. For the construction method, a sort of the slip casting method is employed, whose repetitive formation function you can take advantage of. In addition, high temperatured and low temperatured steins are used so that the range of colors to be expressed can be available as much as possible. In conclusion, the study has its meaning in not only revealing any attribute inherent in clay itself and confirming its possibility but also looking into which meaning the ceramic art has in the language of modern arts.
