생성과 소멸의 이미지 형상화

Abstract

인간은 자연에서 태어나 자연의 혜택 속에서 살고 자연으로 돌아간다. 자연은 인간을 비롯한 모든 생명체의 원천으로서 오묘한 법칙에 따라 끊임없이 변화하면서 질서와 조화를 이루고 있다. 이러한 자연을 보며 인간은 누구든지 본능적으로 보고 느낀 것을 표현하려는 충동을 지니게 된다. 자연의 질서와 조화를 보며 예술가는 그것들의 근원에 대해 생각하고 느끼며 직감적인 체험을 통하여 자기 자신의 내면 의식과 결부시켜 예술 작품을 창조한다. 과학 문명의 발랄로 산업화되어 가는 현대 인간사회 속에서 생명의 근원과 자연에서 탄생하는 생명의 신비에 대한 관심으로 생성과 소별의 이미지를 추상적으로 형상화하는 것은 자연에의 회귀를 추구하며 태초의 이미지에 대한 향수를 느끼는 인간 본성의 표현이며 자연의 생명력을 표현하는데 예술적 활동이다. 본 연군의 목적은 생물과 무생물 또는 인간사회의 생활에서 일어나고 있는 자연의 질서인 생성과 소멸의 이미지를 형상화함으로써 생명성을 표현하는데 있다. 본 연구의 내용으로써 먼저 생명의 근원적 힘인 생성과 소멸의 일반적인 이론을 고찰하였고 자연물에서 보여지는 생성과 소멸의 관계를 알아보았으면 그 내용이 담긴 20C의 작품을 살펴보았다. 작품 제작에 있어서는 자연의 근원적 생성의 힘과 소멸의 이미지를 표현하기 위하여 있어서 점토의 재질을 살려 유동적인 곡선형으로 운동감을 강조하며 유기적 형태로 형상화하였다. 표현 분석은 형태와 재료상의 특징에 따라 조형적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 방법은 생성과 소멸의 이미지를 표현하기 위해 이론적 배경에서 문헌을 조사하고 참고 도표로는 생성과 소멸의 이미지가 보여지는 20세기 추상작품 16점을 목적 표출하였다. 생성과 소멸의 이미지 표현에 있어서 생명을 부여하며 자연의 모태적 이미지를 담고 있는 점토를 주재료로 사용하여 테라코타의 판쌓기 기법을 이용해 총 7점을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공간 속에 존재하는 자연물들 간의 접목으로 형상화된 작품은 다른 유기체의 이미지를 연상 케함으로써 자연계에 존재하는 생명체는 상호작용, 상호 보완을 하며 폭넓은 조형 가능성을 체험케 한다. 둘째, 흙의 질감에 따른 표면 처리는 대비 효과로서 생성과 소멸의 이미지를 표현하는데 시각적 효과를 주었고 판쌓기 방법으로 작품의 전체적 구조가 정적인 흐름의 곡선형을 이룬 가운데 작은 변화를 줌으로써 생성과 소멸의 동적 구조를 느낄 수 있는 유기적 형태를 나타났다. 첫째, 작품에 나타난 유기적 형태는 스스로의 힘과 감정을 분출하여 자연의 생명성을 나타내었고, 작품 형태에서는 한 작품에서 생성과 소멸의 이미지가 반복적 효과를 거듭하고 또한 개체들이 한 집합제로 형성되며 군상적 요소가 보임으로써 생명의 지속성을 나타낸다.;Man is born into nature, live through its pleasure, and eventually returns to that. Nature is the source of all living beings including mankind, and changes endlessly according to its profound law, creating order and harmony. When one looks at nature. he/she instinctively desires to express what it has been seen and felt. And when the artist looks nature's order and harmony, he/she thinks about its origin and express his/her internal consciousness thtough intiutive experionce. With deep interest in the mystery of life's manifestation in nature and source of life in human society, which is industrialiaing with the advancement of science and technology, I have pursued recurrence in nature by materializing in an abstract form the images of generation and extinction. It has its significance in that it expresses the nostalgia to the image of genesis and nature's vitality. This research has its objective in materializing existence in a metaphorical means of expression by making images of animate and inanimate things and nature's order of generation and extinction, which is taking place in the life style of human socisty. The content of this research are to examine the general theory on generation and extinction which are the essence of life, and to study the relationship between generation and extinction seen in natural objects and, to observe modern abstract works which contain this subject matter. In expressing the image of the force behind generation and extinction while producing the works, clay was used to emphasize the movement through flowing curves as well as to shape it into an organic form. Analysis of expression was done through molding in accordance with the characteristics of the form and materials used. In order to express the image of generation and extinction, method of research was done in the theoretical aspect through books on aesthetics and biology, used 16 pieces of modern abstract art works. In expressive of the image of generation and extinction, 7 work pieces were produced by employing the terracotta pile method and using clay as the main material which contains nature's maternal image endowed with life in itself. The conclusion of the research was as follows, First, works materialized by grafting natural objects that exist in time and space bring up other shaping images. In this manner, all living object existing in nature arouses an ample potentials for shaping them through interaction and comptementariness. Second, the surface treatment by the texture of the clay gives the visual effect to express image of generation and extinction. The movemental structure of curve by the method of pile expresses the movement in the passive. Third, the organic form that appeard in the works were poured forth through the force and feelings in themselves, expressing the vitality of nature. In shape of works, addition by repeating the image of generation and extinction in a work, both pieces became part of the whole assembly, showing the factor of a mass group, thus showing the continuum of life.
