빛의 형상화

Abstract

"빛의 生命을 드러내는 것 중의 하나이다. 즉 빛은 만물의 生成을 묻는 本體로서 그것은 무한의 에너지이다. 그래서 빛은 동양 철학의 입장에서 생명체의 始原으로 일컬어져 왔다." 이렇게 일체의 事物과 공간을 점유하고 있는 모든 것에 생명의 脈으로 숨어들어 있는 빛 자체의 形象化에 대한 본 연구는 빛의 物理論 차원으로서의 현상에 대한 단순한 模寫를 넘어 存在論的 次元으로 확대한 빛에 대해 형상화하고자 하였다. "미술은 그 자체가 實在이다. 그것은 객관세계의 계시 혹은 창조이지 그것의 발명이 아니다." 그러므로 본 연구에서는 우선적으로 빛에 대한 일반적 고찰을 통해 그 意味내용과 本質을 살펴보았고, 물리과학적 측면에서의 고찰을 통해 좀 더 구체적으로 빛의 물리적 현상에 따른 客觀的이고 타당성있는 자료를 제시하였으며, 이를 조형화하기 위한 방법으로 입체주의의 조형양식을 연구·분석하고 摘用시켜 이에 따라 빛의 형태를 分類하는 형식으로 조형화하였다. 따라서 단지 視覺的 次元에서 관찰할 수 있는 빛에 대한 묘사가 아니라, 이와같은 연구방법을 통해 입체주의 조형양식을 적용시킴으로써 보다 특색있는 형식을 갖춘 3차원적 공간으로서의 빛을 형상화하는 것이다. 작품제작은 과학적 측면에서의 고찰을 통해 분석된 물리적 현상을 근거로 빛속에 內在되어 있는 의미를 표면화하면서, '빛'이라는 최소한의 객관적인 이해를 돕기 위해 빛의 근본성질인 '波動現象'을 부각시켜 이를 연상시킬 수 있는 느낌을 본 연구자의 표현력에 의해 구사하여 기본 이미지로 설정하고, 작품 전체를 통해 표출될 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 입체주의의 조형양식에따라 채택한 幾何學的 형태를 기본 형태로 전제한 가운데, 형태의 분할 및 결합을 통한 형태, 형태의 겹침을 통한 형태, 형태의 왜곡·변형을 통한 빛의 형태로 분류하여 조형화 작업을 전개해 나갔다. 제작방법은,본 연구자가 형상화하고자 하는 빛 형태가 중량감이 느껴지지 않고 감각적이면서도 자연스럽고 유연한 인상을 나타내기 위해서 얇은 알루미늄판과 플래스택슬레트, 얇은 석고판등의 부재료를 이용한 석고원형을 제작하여 조형화하였으므로, 석고틀을 이용한 泥將鑄入成形에 의한 성형방식을 선택하였고, 이장용 自色粘土를 사용하여 형태를 완성한 후 작품의 특성에 따라서 施釉와 燒成과정을 달리하였다. 이와같은 방법에 의한 빛의 형상화 작업을 통해서, 일상생활에서 익숙해져있던 빛에 대한 우리들 시각적 認識을 환기시키는데 자극을 줌과 동시에, 이론적 바탕이 제시된 토대위에 전개되는 抽象으로서의 빛을 형상화 작업을 2차원과 3차원적 空間으로서의 陶磁표현으로 그 가능성을 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구자에게 있어 이와같은 조형작업은 사물에 대한 "보는 눈"을 "생각하는 눈"으로 인식의 전환점을 이룸과 동시에 작업의 형식에도 조직적이고 논리적인 발전의 계기가 되었다.;The light is the one that reveals the life. As to speak, the light is the subjeet that helps with the creation of every life, and it is also an infinite energy. Therefore, the light has been said to be the origin of life on the view point of the oriental phylosophy. This investigation of the light-the vein of the whole object that occupies the empty space-is not limited to the description of simple physical phenomena that caused by the light, but reached to the formation of light in the aspect of the ontology. Therefore, this investigation analyzes the physical property of the light through the objective and fundamental scientific investigations, and using this basic background, crystalyzes the light as a three dimensional space by adapting moulding purpose and moulding mode of the cubisms and ce´zanne. The fine art is an existence itself. It is not the reflection of the objective world, but the revelation or the creation of it. So, standing on this view point, Ce´zanne and the cubisms visualized the light that surpasses the time and space as a three dimensional and an ontologcal shape by adapting their moulding purposes that reconstitutes the objects, not merely describing them, according to the artist's subjective impression. And they premised the fundamental wave property of the light as a basic image, and made the crystalization of the light possible through the ceramic work by classifying the forms into the forms with superimposing between the forms and the forms with distortions. As for the method of working, white clay for usage as mud ornament was used, and according to the forms and sizes of works, Slip Casting was performed by using the gesso matrix, and in addition, glaze and firing process were differentiated by the specificities of works. Through the work of crystalization of the light, these methods not only stimulated our recognition on the visual dimension that accustomed to the light in the ordinary life, but also made the expression of the crystalization of the light come true as an abstraction on the construction of theoretical backgroud, and this resulted in the three dimensional porcelains. And, as for me, the investigator, the turning point of the moulding work during the investigation was the renovation of the eyes that altered form 'watching eyes' to 'thinking eyes'.
