수줍음, 사회적 지지와 사회적 적응과의 관계

Abstract

Shyness, as a notion opposed to the positive and sociable behavior, is known as a factor that often results in personal relations of negative traits and inhibited behavior, thus affecting children's social life negatively. It is a phenomenon generally observable, however, that the shy children are desirous inwardly of intimate relations with others, and especially when they find their parents, friends and other acquaintances, they can often be greatly helped and motivated to tackle and overcome their various personal problems for themselves. The purpose of this paper is to make an intensive study and analysis of the influences that the degree of social support working upon the shy children ' s social adjustment. For this study, a total of 420 5th year children of a Seoul elementary school have been given a series of questions with their responses, statistically processed by such methods as, co-relation analysis, multiple regression analysis, stepwise regression analysis, etc. The main results of this study show some significant findings as follows: Co-relation analysis of the children's shyness and social support shows statistically significant negative co-relations. Also, co-relation analysis of the children's shyness and the sub-factors of social support shows negative co-relations. Otherwise, co-relation analysis of the sub-factors of social support and social adjustment shows positive co-relations. The result of the stepwise regression analysis shows that firstly, the relative influences of social support factor upon their social adjustment has significant positivity in the order of family support and friend support in the case of male children; and family support, teacher support and friend support in the case of female children; and family support, friend support and teacher support in the case of all children. Secondly examination of the relative influences of children's shyness and social support upon their social adjustment shows significant positivity in the order of shyness, family support in the case of male children; and family support, shyness in the case of female children; and shyness, family support, teacher support in the case of all children. The result of multiple regression analysis in generalized linear model shows that the co-relative effects between shyness and friend support are valid in all cases examined.;적극적이고 사교적인 행동과 반대되는 개념인 수줍음은 소극적인 특징과 억제된 행동으로 인해 대인 관계를 맺거나 사회 생활을 하는데 부정적인 영향을 주는 요인으로 생각된다. 그러나 아동들은 타인과의 친밀한 관계를 바라며, 특히, 부모, 친구 그리고 가까운 주변 사람들과의 관계를 통해 사회적인 지지를 받게되면 다양한 문제들을 극복해 갈 수 있는 힘을 얻게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 지각된 사회적 지지의 정도가 수줍은 아동이 사회적 적응을 하는데 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 분석하는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구는 서울 시내 2개 초등학교의 5학년 학생 420명을 대상으로 설문 조사하였으며, 분석시에는 상관관계분석, 중다회귀분석, 단계적 회귀분석 등의 방법으로 통계처리 하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과를 보면 다음과 같다 아동의 수줍음, 사회적 지지, 사회적 적응의 상관분석 결과는 아동의 수줍음과 사회적 적응은 통계적으로 유의한 부적인 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 수줍음과 사회적 지지의 각 하위요인의 관계는 가족 지지, 친구 지지, 교사 지지 모두 부적인 상관 관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 아동의 사회적 지지의 각 하위요인과 사회적 적응은 정적인 상관 관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 아동의 수줍음과 사회적 지지가 사회적 적응에 미치는 상대적 영향력은 단계적 회귀분석을 실시한 결과 첫째, 사회적 지지의 하위요인이 사회적 적응에 미치는 상대적 영향력은 남아의 경우 가족 지지, 친구 지지의 순으로, 여아의 경우는 가족 지지, 교사 지지, 친구 지지의 순으로, 아동 전체의 경우는 가족 지지, 친구 지지, 교사 지지의 순으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 아동의 수줍음, 사회적 지지가 사회적 적응에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 살펴본 결과 남아의 경우 수줍음, 가족 지지의 순으로, 여아의 경우는 가족 지지, 수줍음의 순으로, 아동 전체의 경우는 수줍음, 가족 지지, 교사 지지의 순으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 아동의 수줍음과 사회적 지지의 사회적 적응에 대한 상호작용을 알아보기 위해 일반선형모형으로 중다회귀분석을 실시한 결과 아동 전체의 경우 수줍음과 친구 지지의 상호작용효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
