열린 정체성으로의 성찰과 표현

Abstract

널리 운위되고 있는 현대의 불투명성과 불확정성이라는 테제는 '나'를 '나의 것'이라 확신할 수 있는 정체성의 근거가 희박해져 가는 시대에 우리가 살고 있음을 말해주고 있다. 스스로 자신만의 특별한 방식으로 삶을 정의하고, 추구하기를 선택하는 우리는 세계를 구성하는 수많은 계열들이 얽혀있은 존재들로서 우리들 자신이 자신을 알고 이해하기 위해서는, 즉 자신과 자신의 삶을 정의하고, 자신 안에 올바른 법칙들을 입법하기 위해서는 자신을 구성하고 있는 세계의 수많은 계열들을 정확히 이해하는 일들이 먼저 선행되어야만 할 것이다. 그런 의미에서 자아의 상실과 정체성의 위기를 맞고 있는 오늘, 우리를 구성하는 세계는 과연 어떠한 모습일까? 우리는 물질만능의 자본주의, 테크놀러지와 스피드의 우상화, 문화적 위계질서의 붕괴, 주체의 '탈중심화', 문화적, 정치적, 실존적 파편화와 그 위기를 맞았고, 감각의 일반적인 약화와 함께 성찰과 반성성은 곤경에 처했다. 본인의 작업은 이러한 위기적인 상황 안에서의 인간의 실존과 정체성(Identity)의 문제에 닿아 그것에 대한 인간 스스로의 자각과 성찰을 피하고, 궁극적으로 그들을 열린 해서자로 유도함으로써 정체성의 실체 찾기에 있어 희망적 전망을 모색해보고자 하는 시도에서 시작된다. 그것의 일환으로 본 연구에 들어서기 이전의 본인 의식 안에서 일어난 오인과 착각으로의 '자아' 개념, 다시 말해서, 데카르트적 자아('코기토 자아')개념을 비판적인 시각으로 분석해 보고, 그러한 착각과 오인 안에서 자아가 갖는 딜레마를 형상화하여 본인의 조형 언어로 풀어봄으로써 모든 착오적 자아개념에 대한 자각과 성찰을 도모한다. 또한 본인 작업이 내재하고 있는 정체성과 관련한 '몸'의 개념을 동양철학과 닮아있는 본인의 일원론적 입장으로 분석해 봄과 동시에 본인의 조형 이미지로 구체화하여 재접근함으로써 몸으로 현존하는 인간의 실존을 규명하여 정의해보고, 이어서 후기구조주의 정신분석학자 자끄 라깡(Jaques Lacan)의 '타자로서의 자아'개념을 고찰하여 인간의 자아가 그 자체로 존재하는 근원적인 존재, 혹은 명증적 존재가 아니라 타자와의 동일시 과정을 거쳐 형성된 존재라는 사실을 인정한 후에, 반복적인 변증법을 통해 자아를 성찰하고 수정해 나갈 수 있음을 규명한다. 더불어 본인 작업의 기호로서의 이미지들은 인간의 자아 안으로 들어와 있는 '타자'의 개념을 풀어서 서술함으로써 나아가 '정체성'규명의 희망적인 가능성을 조망해 본다. 이러한 조망은 상실된 정체성을 형상화한 작품을 새로운 시각으로 진열(display)하기를 시도함으로써 확장된 작업행위로의 접근을 보여주는 동시에 자각과 성찰에서 가능성으로의 희망이라는 메시지까지, 정체성이 갖는 문제에 대한 긍정적인 본인의 견해를 극대화 시켜 제시한다.;The theme on opacity and indeterminacy in modern times is spread out widely. It alerts that we are living in the world where the identity, which starts to consider myself as mine, is declining. We, who define and pursue our lives in our own special ways for ourselves, need to know and understand exactly about ourselves who are connected to enormous number of entities of the (outside) world. In other words, in order to define ourselves as well as our lives to enact rightful laws within ourselves, complete understanding of the enormous number of entities within ourselves (inner world) should be carried out first. In this sense, what does our world look like today when we encounter the loss of ego and the identity crisis? We are in the age of capitalism filled with materialism, idolization of technology and speed, cultural hierarchy collapse, 'decentralization' of identity, cultural, political, existential brokenness and its crisis. Also, self-examination and introspection are in predicament with the senses diminished. My work starts from the attempt to approach self-awareness and self-examination spaced in the problems of existentialism and identity crisis and ultimately to attempt to find out optimistic view on this matter as an open interpreter. As part of this subject, analysis of the concept of 'ego' which I misunderstood and had an illusion about before involved in this research, that is, the concept of 'Cogito's ego' of R. Descartes, is to be analyzed critically (with a critical view). The dilemma in which ego possesses within such misunderstanding and illusion is then expressed in my formative language working for self-awareness and self-examination on wrong ego concept. Moreover, the concept of 'body' related to identity, which is inherent in my work is analyzed with a view of Oriental philosophy's monism. At the same time, it is reapproached with a shape of my formative image and the existence of human being is closely examined. Considering the concept of 'ego' with the concept of 'others' by Jacques Lacan, the ego of human being is not the obvious existence originated from oneself but it is the existence formed by the simultaneous processes with the other parties. When this fact is accepted, it is to be examined that men can have self examination of ego and adjust themselves through repetitive dialectic. Images that symbolize my work will be involved in men's ego and will be described by spelling out the concept of "another party'. Moreover, the optimistic examination of 'identity' is going to be viewed. This is to attempt to display the work in which the lost identity which is formed with a new point of view so as to show the extended work action. At the same time, it is to give a message of hope that maximizes my optimistic point of view about the problem of ego by covering self-awareness and self-examination to possibility.
