성격유형, 심리사회적 발달정도와 상담에 대한 기대감과의 관계

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relation of personality type, level of sychosocial development and student's expectations about counseling. Undergraduate female students of 270 and male students of 157 completed the Expectations About Counseling Questionnaire and Internal-External control scale, Erikson Psychosocial Stage Inventory(EPSI). Each of the two scale was tested by MANOVA to examine the relation between personality type, level of psychosocial development and expectations about counseling. The results of this study are as follows: 1. There wasn't significant difference on the expectations about counseling according to internal-external control. 2. There were significant difference on the expectations about counseling according to level of psychosocial development. On the stage of Trust ve. Mistrust, developmentally more mature students had more positive expectations about counseling on the Responsibility, Realism, Nurturance, whereas developmentally less mature students had significantly more positive scores on the Empathy. On the stage of Autonomy vs. Shame, developmentally more mature students had more positive scores on the Openness. Responsibility, Genuineness and developmentally less mature students had more positive scores on the Directiveness. On the stage of Initiative vs. Guilt, developmentally more mature students had more positive expectations about counseling on the Openness, Responsibility, Outcome and developmentally less mature students had more positive scores on the Directiveness. On the stage of Industry vs, Inferiority, developmentally more mature students had more positive scores on the Responsibility. On the stage of Identity vs. Identity confusion, developmentally more mature students had more positive scores on the Responsibility, Self-disclosure and less mature students had more positive scores on the Directiveness. On the stage of Intimacy vs. Isolation, more mature students had more positive expectations about counseling on the Openness. Responsibility, Acceptance, Genuineness, Self-disclosure, Attractiveness, Trustworthiness, Immediacy, Outcome.;본 연구에서는 성격유형(내외통제성), 심리사회적 발달정도와 상담에 대한 내담자의 기대감과 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구의 목적은 상담에 대한 기대감이 효과적인 상담결과에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인인 만큼 내담자의 기대감에 영향을 미치는 변인과 그에 따르는 기대감의 차이를 파악하여 적절한 상담목표 수립과 효과적인 상담접근을 하도록 하는데 도움이 되는 자료를 제공하고자 하는 것이다. Tinsley(1980)의 상담에 대한 기대감 척도와 내외통제성 척도, 심리사회적 단계 척도가 여자 대학생 270명과 남자 대학생 157명을 대상으로 실시되었다. 내외통제성, 심리사회적 발달정도에 따른 기대감의 차이를 알아보기 위해 두 개의 척도에 대해서 각각 다변량분석(MANOVA)을 하였으며 심리사회적 발달척도는 각 6단계별로 다변량분석 하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 성격의 내외통제성에 따른 상담에 대한 기대감에는 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 심리사회적 발달정도에 따른 상담에 대한 기대감은 각 6단계에서 유의미한 차이가 있었는데, 신뢰감 대 불신감 단계에서는 심리사회적 위기의 해결정도가 높은 사람들일수록 책임성, 현실성, 양육성에서 높은 기대감을 나타냈으며 위기의 해결정도가 낮은 사람들은 공감성에 대한 기대가 높았다. 자율성 대 수치심 단계에서 심리사회적 위기를 긍정적으로 해결한 사람들은 보다 개방적이고 책임감을 느낄 것으로 기대했고 상담자가 솔직하기를 기대하였으며 위기의 해결정도가 낮은 사람들은 지시성에서 높은 기대를 나타냈다. 주도성 대 죄의식 단계에서는 심리사회적 위기를 긍정적으로 해결한 사람들이 개방성, 책임성, 결과에서 높은 기대를 나타냈고 상담자 태도, 행동요인중 지시성에서는 위기의 해결정도가 낮은 사람들이 높은 기대를 나타냈다. 근면성 대 열등감 단계에서는 심리사회적 위기를 긍정적으로 해결한 사람들이 상담에서의 책임성에 있어 높은 기대를 나타냈다 정체감 대 정체혼미 단계에서 심리사회적 위기를 긍정적으로 해결한 사람들은 내담자 자신의 책임성. 상담자의 자기 공개성에서 높은 기대를 나타냈으며 위기의 해결정도가 낮은 사람들은 상담자의 지시성에서 높은 기대를 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 친밀감 대 고립감 단계에서는 위기의 해결정도가 높은 사람들일수록 개방성, 책임성, 수용성, 솔직성, 자기공개성, 호감성, 신뢰성, 즉시성, 결과에서 유의미하게 높은 기대를 나타냈다. 본 연구 결과에 의하면 발달상으로 보다 성숙한 사람들이 덜 성숙된 사람들 보다 대체로 상담에 대한 기대감이 높았으며 특히, 내담자 태도에서 보다 개방적이고 책임감을 느낄 것으로 기대하였다. 반면 심리사회적 발달 정도가 낮은 사람들은 기대감의 상담자 태도. 행동요인에서 상담자가 보다 공감적이며 지시적일 것으로 높게 기대하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 내담자의 심리적성숙과 발달수준에 따라 차별적이고 다양한 상담접근이 요구됨을 확인시켜 준다고 할 수 있다.
