국민학교 학생의 교사 역할 기대에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of teachers as is expected by elementary school children and desirable images of their teachers, by their sex, grades and provinces. For this purpose, I conducted a survey of school children on the following points: conducting of lesson, student guidance, humanity guidance, personal relations guidance, class management and extra-curricular activities guidance, by school children's sex, grades and provinces. I conducted the survey, using the method of filling up questionnaires, with the children of four elementary schools in Seoul 9397) and four elementary schools 9393) in rural areas. The results of the analysis of the survey are as follows: 1. On the point of lesson conduction, both fifth and sixth graders, both male and female, both in Seoul and rural areas, want teachers who teach them with text books in relation to the real social life, and instruct them, arousing their interest and amusing them. 2. On the point of student guidance, every school child, on fifth and sixth grades, both in Seoul and rural areas, wants teachers who understand their pupils and teach them with love, and sympathetic teachers who deal with their pupils fairly. 3. On the point of humanity guidance, every school child, both male and female. on fifth and sixth grades, both in Seoul and rural areas, want teachers who teach their pupils to be honest and to live faithfully, and those teachers who hope their pupils to be honest men, rather than those who are good at their studies. 4. On the point of personal relations, male children prefer those teachers who are partial to nobody and who deal with every pupil fairy and are ready to play games with their pupils, while female children prefer those teachers who show favoritism to nobody, and deal with every pupil fairy and treat the pupils as friends. Both fifth and sixth graders, both in Seoul and rural areas, want teachers who are partial to nobody, and deal with every pupil fairy and treat them as friends. 5. On the point of class management, male children prefer teachers who try to reflect the opinions of their pupils in the management of class, while female children prefer those teachers who try to create pleasant nd joyful class atmosphere. All school children on fifth and sixth grades, both in Seoul and rural areas, want teachers who create pleasant and joyful classroom atmosphere. 6. On the point of extra-curricular activities, male children prefer those teachers who, having versatile tastes, instruct their pupils in various fields, and those teachers who instruct them intensively in the field of fine arts with the sense of responsibility, while female children also prefer those teachers who, having versatile tastes, instruct their pupils in various fields, and those teachers who instruct their pupils intensively in the field of literary arts such as composition and children's verse. Fifth graders prefer those teachers who, having versatile tastes, instruct their pupils in various fields, and those teachers who instruct them intensively in the fields of athletics and dance with the sense of responsibility. Sixth graders want those teachers who, having versatile tastes, instruct their pupils in various fields, and those teachers who instruct them intensively in the field of fine of fine arts with the sense of responsibility. 7. On the point of the age of teachers, both fifth and sixth graders, both male and female, both in Seoul and rural areas, prefer those teachers between the ages of 21 and 40. As for the appearances of teachers, they want teachers who look simple, plain and clean. As for the characters of teachers, they prefer those teachers who are humourous and amusing. As for academic records, they prefer four-year course college graduates.;이 연구의 목적은 국민학교 학생이 기대하는 교사의 역할이 성별, 학년별, 지역별로 어떤 기대를 갖고 있는가를 규명하는 데 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해 교사의 역할과 바람직한 교사상을 선행연구를 중심으로 분석하였고 국민학교 학생들은 국민학교 교사의 학습지도면, 생활지도면, 인성지도면, 인간관계면, 학급경영면, 특활지도면, 신상면에 대하여 성별, 학년별, 지역별로 어떠한 기대를 갖고 있는가를 연구 문제로 설정하였다. 조사 방법은 질문지법으로 조사하였고 연구대상은 서울 시내 국민학교 4개교(397명)과 농어촌 국민학교 4개교(393명)로 하였다. 분석결과 성별, 학년별, 지역별로 국민학교 학생이 기대하는 교사의 역할은 다음과 같다. 학습지도면에서 보면 남녀학생, 5 , 6학년학생, 서울, 농어촌학생 중 많은 학생들이 교과서를 재미있게 실생활과 관련지어서 지도해 주는 교사와 잘 웃기면서 흥미롭게 가르치는 교사를 좋아하고 있다. 생활지도면에서 보면 남녀학생, 5 , 6학년학생, 서울, 농어촌학생 중 많은 학생들이 학생을 이해하며 사랑으로 가르치는 교사와 공평하게 지도하시며 이해심이 많은 교사를 좋아하고 있다. 인성지도면에서 보면 남녀학생, 5 , 6학년학생, 서울, 농어촌학생 중 많은 학생들이 정직하고 성실하게 살아야 한다고 말씀하시는 교사와 학과 보다 올바른 사랑이 되기를 바라는 교사를 원하고 있다. 인간관계면에서는 남학생은 편애하지 않고 공평하게 대해 주시는 교사와 운동경기나 게임을 같이하며 놀아주는 교사를 좋아하는 여학생은 편애하지 않고 공평하게 대해 주는 교사와 친구처럼 대해 주는 교사를 원하고 있다. 5 , 6학년학생, 서울, 농어촌학생 중 많은 학생들인 편애하지 않고 공평하게 대해 주는 교사와 친구처럼 대해주는 교사를 원하고 있다. 학급경영면에서는 남학생은 아동들의 의견을 많이 반영하여 학급을 운영하는 교사를 원하고, 여학생은 흥미롭고 즐거운 분위기를 만드는 교사를 원하고 있다. 5 , 6학년학생, 서울, 농어촌학생 중 많은 학생들이 흥미롭고 즐거운 분위기를 만드는 교사를 원하고 있다. 특활지도면에서 보면 남학생은 광범위한 취미를 갖고 조금씩이나마 두루 지도해 주는 교사와 그리기, 만들기등 미술 영역을 책임지고 지도해 주는 교사를 원하고, 여학생은 광범위한 취미를 갖고 조금씩 이나마 두루 지도해 주는 교사와 글짓기, 동시(문예)에 관한 것을 지도해 주는 교사를 원하고 있다. 5학년 학생은 광범위한 취미를 갖고 조금씩이나마 두루 지도해 주는 교사와 체육, 무용을 책임지고 지도해 주는 교사를 원하고 있다. 6학년 학생은 광범위한 취미를 갖고 조금씩이나마 두루 지도해 주는 교사와 그리기, 만들기등 미술 영역을 책임지고 지도해 주는 교사를 원하고 있다. 서울, 농어촌학생 중 많은 학생들이 광범위한 취미를 갖고 조금씩이나마 두루 지도해 주는 교사와 그리기, 만들기등 미술 영역을 책임지고 지도해 주는 교사를 원하고 있다. 교사의 신상면에서 남, 녀학생, 5 , 6학년학생, 서울, 농어촌학생 대부분이 교사의 연령은 21세∼40세 정도의 교사를 원하고 있고 교사의 성은 남선생님이나 여선생님이나 관계없이 좋아하고 있어 교사의 성과 학생들의 기대와는 무관한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 교사의 성격은 유우머가 있으며 재미있는 교사를 원하며, 교사의 용모는 검소하고 수수하며 깨끗한 교사를 원하고 교사의 학력은 4년제 대학을 졸업한 교사를 원하고 있다.
