한국의 무용 레파토리 공연의 현황 조사·연구

Abstract

본 연구는 무용예술에 있어서 레파토리가 지니는 의미의 중요성을 인식하고 현재 우리나라의 무용 레파토리 공연 현황을 살펴보므로써 그에 따른 문제점을 인식하고 레파토리 공연의 활성화 방안을 위한 기초를 구축하고자 하였다. 무용에 있어 레파토리란 작품에 필요한 장치, 의상, 음악 등이 갖추어지고 그에 대한 연습이 이루어져 있어서 한 단체가 언제든지 공연할 수 있는 작품들의 목록을 의미하며 또한 이러한 작품들이 재연되는 행위를 일컫기도 한다. 각 단체들은 기존의 걸작을 원작 그대로 반복 공연하며, 또는 창조된 작품을 수정·보완하므로써 단체마다의 고유한 레파토리를 보유하게 된다. 이는 무용이 공연예술이라는 점을 감안해서 볼 때 걸작 보존을 위해 가치있는 일이며, 또한 작품의 예술적 가치를 향상시킬 수 있고, 더불어 무용을 진정으로 이해하고 즐길 수 있는 전문화된 관객의 확대를 초래한다. 따라서 이러한 레파토리 중요성의 인지 하에 우리나라 무용 레파토리 공연의 현황을 조사하였다. 크게는 국·공립 단체와 민간 단체로 구분하였고, 또 그 안에서 한국 전통무용과 고전발레를 포함하는 '전통무용 부문'과 한국 창작무용, 창작발레, 현대무용을 포함하는 '창작무용 부문'으로 구분하여 조사·연구하였다. 전통무용 레파토리의 경우, 정부의 '전통보존', '국가적 대표성의 예술진흥'이라는 취지하에 국·공립 단체를 중심으로 꾸준히 진행되었고, 민간 단체에서도 '테크닉 습득','창작을 위한 기반 구축', '걸작의 체험'을 위한 의도로 존속되어 왔다. 창작무용 레파토리의 경우, 1990년에 들어서 소수 민간 단체에 의해 그 중요성이 인식되기 시작했고, 1992년 정부의 '우수공연 레파토리 지원정책'이 책정되면서 본격화되기 시작했다. 공연횟수는 해마다 증가추세에 있긴 하지만 대부분 단순한 재연, 순회공연 형식이었고 의미있는 레파토리 작업의 친척은 소수의 민간단체에 국한된 것이었다. 종합적으로 레파토리 공연은 우리 무용계의 발전에 지대한 영향을 미칠 수 있음에도 불구하고 우리나라 레파토리 공연의 현황은 그 중요성의 인식에 비해 활발하지 못했다. 레파토리 공연의 활성화를 위해서는 레파토리 전용극장의 설립, 민간주도의 안정된 재정기반의 구축, 의미있는 기획전의 마련, 소극장 중심의 공연으로 확대되어 나가는 것이 필요하며, 이러한 방안 마련을 통한 레파토리 공연의 성행은 우리의 무용을 전문화·대중화하는데 크게 기여할 것이다.;This study has been carried out to understand the significance of the repertory in the art of dance and realize the problems in the Korean dance world by investigating its situation of repertory performances and then it is intended to prepare the basis for a further study on the method to promote repertory productions. The term of repertory in dance means the list of works for which a company has settings, costumes, and musics and has rehearsed in order to put them on stage anytime. Sometimes it also means the activity of reproducing them. Dance companies possess their own repertory by repeating the production of master works in their original forms or modifying and complementing them. In the view that dance is a performing art, repertory productions are very important to conserve master works, to improve artistic value of dances and even to enlarge a specialized audience who can really appreciate and enjoy them. For this study, first of all, the Korea's dance repertory performances is investigated. Dance companies are categorized into stateㆍpublic and civil ones. And the category of dance itself is divided into 'traditional dance division' which includes Korean traditional dances and classical ballets, and 'created dance division' which includes Korean created dances, created ballets and modern dances. The traditional dance repertory has been steadily produced especially by stateㆍpublic companies to the effect that the government should conserve the national tradition and promote the nation's representative arts. And civil companies also have produced the traditional repertory for the purpose of mastering techniques, building the foundation for creation, and experiencing master works. In the case of the created dance repertory, its importance began to be acknowledged by a few civil companies from the year of 1990 and its productions started remarkably after the government support policy for excellent repertory performances in 1992. Although the repertory performances are on the increase every year, most of them are just reproducing conventional works. Significant repertory productions are limited to some civil companies. Consequently, the situation of our repertory productions is not satisfactory considering such importance that they could make a great contribution to our dance world. To promote repertory performances, it is necessary to establish repertory theaters, to prepare stable economic sources for dancers, to make consequent projects and to transform dance works into the proper ones for small theaters. Through such measures, prevalence of repertory performances would contribute to the professionalization and popularization of dance.
