무의식과 의식에 의한 이미지 추구

Abstract

Of all the aspects of reality brought forth since the beginning of painting history, usage of the formative language with regard to spirit and expression differed, depending upon the swing of the pendulum of realism. Developing process of human mind based on where one places his basis of expression can be observed in the modern arts. Likewise, there are two distinctive attitudes shown in the modern arts in this regard. The one is abstractionism which accentuated conscious attitude while seeking discipline of form, and the other is varied kind of abstract world that expressed an imaginative dimension of unconciousness. In the flow of modern painting, where there is a strong tendency of defining one's personality and establishing one's philosophy in painting, this writer attempted to express the freedom of plane in canvas which tends to materialize as an accidental phenomenon of touch, and consciousness and unconsciousness in the paintiing that is created by moderation and division of space. What is being sought after by this writer, therefore, is to freely express lines and stains for the flow of unconcious images, while admitting the fact that conciousness plays an important and decisive part. This writer believes that undisciplined space can be turned into orderly and stable one when consciousness and unconciousness interact. Combination of emotion represented by stain and brush-stretch and rhythm or balance represented by straight-lines can lead to, it is believed, sustained equilibrium and freshness. Based on these ground, this thesis deals with substance world of consciousness whose root goes back to structurism, championed by neo-formalists of conscious and logical nature as well as unconsciousness of abstract expressionists, and it attempts to study methology and technique in the works. Seeking an improved measure of small formation method which occurs during a process painting, this writer intends to work toward establishing one's own philosphy in a painting.;회화의 역사가 시작된 이래 reality의 수많은 양상중 그것이 어디에 치우치느냐에 따라서 정신과 표현의 혁신적 조형언어 구사가 변형되어 왔다. 표현의 근거를 무엇에 두었느냐에 따른 인간의 정신 발달상태가 현대미술에 나타나 있으며 현대미술에는 두가지의 명백한 태도가 제시되어 있다. 그것은 자신의 내면과 세계관에 관한 예술가의 감성을 강조한 표현주의의 출발에서 부터인데, 무의식적인 상상의 세계를 화면에 표출시킨 세계와 의식적인 태도를 고취하면서 형태의 질서를 추구한 또하나의 추상세계인 것이다. 개성을 찾고 자신의 독특한 회화관을 추구하려는 현대회화의 흐름속에서 본인은 우연적 현상으로 나타나는 Touch에 의한 화면의 자유로움과 공간의 절제와 분할로 이루어지는 화면속에서의 무의식과 의식의 세계를 표현하고자 하였다. 따라서, 본인이 추구하고자 하는 것은 "무의식적인 이미지의 흐름을 위한 터치와 얼룩을 자유롭게 표출한 반면, 의식이 중요하고 결정적인 역학을 한다는 것을 무시하지 않는다는 것이다." ^(1)) 무의식과 의식이 상호작용을 함으로써 무질서하고 절제할 수 없는 공간을 질서있고 긴장감 있는 화면으로 이끌수 있다고 생각해 보았다. 얼룩과 붓터치로서 내포되는 감정과 직선에 의한 리듬과 균형이 종합됨으로써 지속되는 평형감이 나타난다. 이와 같은 근거로 본인의 작업과정은 추상표현주의의 무의식의 세계와 의식적이고 합리적 사고의 신조형주의를 기반으로한 의식의 세계를 내용으로 하고 관련작자들의 작업의 방법적인 면을 기법적 연구과제로 삼았다. 회화를 창작하는 과정에서 발생하는 '형상의 탐구와 기법의 변화의 가능성을 모색하면서 새로운 회화관을 정립해 나가고자 하는 것이다.
